Karil you are a born teacher. You have that extraordinary capibility to engross the viewer in your talk. Moreover, your command over the subject is just exceptional.
This size octabox is a must for any portrait photographer for sure, but no way am I going back to that style of assembly. This type of box does indeed pack down smaller, but that old school style are a total pita. There are many many brands that offer folding octaboxes that make setup on location a breeze. Paul C. Buff makes a folding octabox that is totally bomber and slick as snot to set up.
Check QUADRALITE HEXADECAGON 150, i have one, and i'm absolutely in love with it. With whole respect to Broncolor, it's look little bit cheap in comparision with it, and it's more than 2x cheeper. Also... Thanks Karl for good quality knowlege! As always, you're TOP!
As Carl said Broncolor diffusing fabric is very neutral and stays neutral in time, cheaper fabrics turn to yellow after a period of time or after exposure to heat, even if broncolor high end flash have the unique function of TC fine adjustment. For a time to time use it does matter, but for a daily intense use in matters a lot.
Karl you sold me this giant octa. I have a Godox 120 but this one has top notch quality. Light quality, diffuser material are excellent. This product weighs much less compared to my 120 deep octa.
I have a Godox SK400II with a Octobox 150 and I'm very happy with it! Are you all going to get into some strip boxes Mr. Taylor? Should make for a great video. Thanks for sharing the knowledge!
I have a Neewer, double diffusion with grid. It's a little deeper and a tad larger than the Broncolor or Godox, but does so much even for an El Cheapo!
I have 2 umbrella octabox 150's. Thing i love in them, is that i can adjust their size with gaffer tape (expand to desired size and lock with tape on rod). That's my recipe for having multiple size softbox on-site. Please try it yourself and give feedback to our community :-)
I did broke my protective glass on the 2nd day of getting of siros L as I dismantle the softbox in the wrong way.. how did you pop out the rods so easily as I'm having trouble taking out the speedring of the octa and stripbox??
Please check 1st video on Karls TH-cam (Paris, Elinchrom Ranger RX, with two small umbrellas during windy weather 😀) 3people are holding stands with 2 flash heads 😃.
Hi Kevin, do you mean does the power drop or does the weight of the softbox cause it to tilt down. If so the answer is no I've not had that problem, the ability for it to tilt down is set from the clamp handle on the light and mine seem very secure when tightened. If you meant the power of the light no as the power is set as a digital input value and always remains stable.
I own a 150cm Elinchrom deep octa that has the possibility to be used with an internal reversed light or rear external as "normal" soft boxes. I only use it reversed and I am too lazy to make comparative shots with internal reversed and external 😊 Could please someone testify in one sentence what's the difference in lighting between the to configurations ?
I am a street photographer and I like to work alone and STEALTHY, although I love to take your advice, but for me personally, there is a little flaw in your statement. Just kidding Karl, great video and good info, always welcome ! Thanks for sharing
I have an Elinchrom Deep octa. It gives very nice light but is not color accurate because silver never is. I have a cheap deep umbrella with white interior and it is almost spot on the color temperature of my strobe. Not that my Elinchrom gives bad light. it is very nice. But is it accurate?. no it is not. It gives 5100k with 2 diffuser, with inner diffuser I get 5450k . so that expensive is better that is bullshit. My umbrella give me around 5600k. which is as close as it gets to accurate kelvin temperature(my godox strobe says the kelvins on the display. Plus i measure it with a color passport, and nert out on the rgb values in capture one.). But is a deep octa nice? hell yeah. Do you need one? no. you can do deep umbrella with or without diffuser than you have indirect light for 100eur/dollar/pound. try to buy an indirect octa.... that like 1000+ euro or something.
@@VisualEducationStudiogreat video. Given the size, do you ever disassemble it or do you leave it “ready to go”? I cannot imagine using a 150cm outdoors on location? Thanks

You think you know something well, until Karl explains it. Beautiful!
Always showing examples to make the info even easier to absorb.
I have octabox 120 with my speedlight and it works like a champ for me as a beginner portrait photographer. Also it is very effective
Great tutorial! I happen to have the Elinchrom version of this octabox and love it!

Paul C Buff just came out with a nice battery operated strobe but the only trigger you can use is their ugly limited trigger. :-(

Great idea when taking the softbox off. I’ve always worried about breaking my light
I have a phottix raja octabox 150 and love it ♡ I use it for high volume dance photography as my key light
Thanks for the info, it's a great all rounder.

Not a bad price!! I'll look into this one!!
Thanks Karl
Excellent video as always. What’s a good 150 octa that opens like an umbrella? Without needing assembly like this one
Deep umbrella with diffuser. that is pretty much an indirect octa but with 16 rods. instead of 8. if you put a diffuser on it it becomes a softbox.
Great video and info!

Thank you very much for this test. 👍👍👍I like your work.
Looking at your IKEA table, IKEA sell an electric and a manual adjustable height table, might be very useful for doing product photography.

Have you had any issues with the broncolor speedring?
Good class. Thanks
Glad you liked it
The Broncolor 150 looks to be shallower in depth than the 5’ ProFoto. Anyone know if it weighs less than the ProFoto?
HI Karl, whitch light modifier catch more wind (outdoor) between an Umbrella shoot through and a softbox of similar size?
I would say an umbrella

Do you have issues with big softboxes or umbrellas pulling the light down from where you had set it (does it drop)

The difference is: direct light (external setu) vs indirect (internal bounced light setup). I am sure you figured it out by now.
Excellent sales pitch for Broncolor ..... although it would be nice to leave this until the end.

Ahh yes not much use to street photography!
Glow softboxes as Adorama are just as good as those, for $100 or less... Can't believe anyone would spend more than that in 2023.
Godox 120$

Broncolor and Profoto were over price and it is made in China as no different to most Chinese brand, the only different is the price, it's rep off.
I want to invest in my skill to build a business, so thank you very much. Your videos helped greatly
Best of luck!
