I purchased my P45 about a month ago and I absolutely love it. I got the package with the L85 stand and a bench and it looks and plays great. Everything I wanted in a digital piano!
Julian Leal Does it have touch sensitivity? Meaning that does it play quietly if you press softly and does it play loudly when you press hard? Please answer. I'm desperate :) Thank you.
Yes, and you can adjust the settings for several functions. From the Yamaha site you can download a free copy of the owner's manual. Right now they have great bundle deals going on. I'm just a musician and fan of Yamaha keyboards. :-)
Hope you dont mind me asking, but how much did you buy it for? 325 pounds or 400 dollars is what its worth online, but in a local shop they sell it for an equivalent of 550 dollars! The heck.
Giò music hiii...I'm a beginner..some have told me that the sound of this piano p45 Yamaha does not appear as great as it is shown in the video..suggest me if I should go for this digital piano or not!! I'm desperate..please help :)
Yes it's the true, my instruments are p45 inside an amplifier for acustic instruments, Scheltler jam 150, but the sound is the piano...i love this piano, for a biginner it's very good, i use it in studio too, if you consider the price, in Italy 399 euros, the keyboard is very very good, i consider to you to go in a store of musical instruments and try it.....the sound without the amplfier is almost identical to the video but much lower volume but if you have a good amplification it's ok
Hey. I'm wondering what piano I should buy. I have this shitty practice keyboard. I'm not looking for anything too expensive. I was wondering if this would be what I should buy. Thanks
Would still recommend me to buy Yamaha p45?? Coz some have said that the sound from this digital piano..is not that great unless it is not connected to speakers? I'm desperate.please help. Thank u!!!
yes you can to play in Headphones, but the volume is not so good, if you have a little amplifier for headphones it's ok, i use a little amp Roland AC Mobile for the headphones....
I got Yamaha P-35. What is the major differences between Yamaha P-35 with Yamaha P-45. I noticed physically P-35 was MIDI In/Out Port vs USB. Can guide me how to check the key stroke is it working fine or not? Yamaha did very good in their P-xx / xxx series of digital piano...compare to Casio which I don't like
I am really interested in this digital piano. My only concern is the output connection to either powered PA speakers and output for recording it to recording equipment. It shows on the manual that in only has a 1/4 jack ''phones'' output. Will this only 1/4 jack ''phones'' output work well for connecting it to external mixer/speakers or recording equipment? Thanks a lot!
How to fix yamaha p45, automatically play demo songs and i can't remove it even pressin the grand piano button, when I turned off the piano I tried to turn it on but the red light is blinking
I want to transpose into lower key. Ex: from key C to Bb without changing my chords....HOW? On the manual says "there is" but theres no instruction HOW. Plsss help me....
Hold down the Grand Piano/Function Button and simultaneously hit the 'F' in the top octave to drop 1/2 step and hit it a second time for another 1/2 step. Release the function button and your P45 is a whole step down in pitch. To return to the default key use the Function + the F# in the top octave. Page 22 in the manual is the Quick Operation Guide and it explains all the hidden Functions. Good Luck!
How does the key press feel to your fingers? Do you feel/hear any click/clack at the "strike?" Or is there ample felt underneath for a soft "strike?" Do the keys feel solid and heavy, or typical lightweight plastic? Thanks!
Hi which one would you choose between the P45 and the Korg SP-170s. do you have an idea which is better? the P45 is newer but that doesnt make it better right? i'm new to piano. thanks
i bought the sp170s a year and half ago, the weighted key feature degrades to the point they keys hardly make sound. apparently im not the only one. really upset, out half a grand now. would not buy again
Is it possible to use the headphone jack to run a split TRS lead to an amp, audio interface or studio monitors? If so, this piano is an excellent deal.
would you recommend this one or the yamaha p-115 for an absolute beginner?? I'm looking into buying one, and so far these models seem to be pretty popular. Do you have any other model to recommend, one that is affordable and sounds like a real piano? I would appreciate it!
I would certainly recommend the P-45 for an absolute beginner, but the p-115 is also a great keyboard. Contact us at N Stuff Music for a great deal and our keyboard representatives will gladly help you out.
+obligatorynagger No unfortunately. It's just a volume for the internal tone generator. I've checked the manual and no mention of controller style functions other than typical note numbers and such. If you need more control try adding a Korg Nano Kontrol2BK Controller to your setup. At just $59 it's worth every penny!
Great video! Did you manage to find how to change the reverb on the P45 piano? I followed the manual and pressed function + C5-E5 keys, the confirmation sound can be heard, but there is no change in the sound. >.>
vince wilson hiii...I'm a beginner..and I wanted to have a digital piano..! I was wondering if I should go for Yamaha p45 or not..because some have said that the sound is not as great as it is shown in the video demo of Yamaha p45. I'm desperate..please help!! Thanks :):)
srujana mulakalapalli - Hey there I think for a beginner it will be great!!! Even for some advanced it would be great. Just depends on what you need it for. Just starting out getting decent sounds 88 keys and it's light weight. What more do ya need?! Hope this helps! Not to mention last I checked there $399
This sound comes out from headphones jack? What about the sound from the speakers? I'm interested only in the grand piano sound (not pipe organ, not clavecin and the stuff like that)
I'm just getting into recording and all and I own this keyboard, does anyone know how he recorded it exactly? Not trying to send data with the USB port. But my question really is, would it work if I plugged a mixer to this and then to my computer through the headphone jack of the keyboard?
Bought one, had it for three weeks and really tried to like it but it didn't happen. Glad I had thirty days to return it. I wanted it mainly for piano sounds and it was no where as bright and crisp like all of the videos I've watched and listened to. The piano sounds were muddy and back it went... I realize it was an entry level board but I returned a DGX650 a few months earlier for the same reason, muted muddy piano samples... The search continues!
Were you using rhe onboard speakers? This video records the sound directly and if you listen with good external speakers they are very good samples. The low end built in speakers gives it a muddy sound which is why I opt for external ones.
+Nathan Schupp The keys are a graded hammer action and are touch sensitive, meaning the harder you play the louder the sound and vice versa. It's a true piano experience.
Does it have a headset plug that cuts the output to the speakers? Can I bypass the build in speakers and output to my own amp and monitors? Does it have a petal or will it work take a 3rd party petal? Also can I use it as a controller only with any midi out sound module using a midi to usb cable? Thanks
+Mike Breler The P45 has a headphone/audio out and when something is plugged in, the internal speakers are turned off. It comes from Yamaha with a footswitch style pedal but Package B adds in a piano style universal pedal. The P45 has USB out only for transmitting midi info. It must be connected to a computer and then can be used as a controller for external modules or virtual instruments.
+Anna Truong Make sure you don't have anything plugged into the headphone jack as it switches off the speakers when used. Also, there is a factory reset that's done by turning on your P45 while holding down the highest C until the light stops flashing. If neither of these fixes the issue, bring it to a Yamaha service center. Good Luck!
Does anyone have it? i bought it and i love it, but i think high notes have low volume. When i play at night with low volume i can barely hear the last octave, is it normal?
He probably could, except it would probably be better if you bought some amplifiers to plug the keyboard into, because the speakers onboard are not loud enough
Annette Espinoza Basically weighted keys are when each key requires pressure to make a sound. The lighter u press a key the lower the sound and the harder u push the key the louder the sound.

Don't mine me as I'm new but here's my question. Are you really really Pro with the piano or I can achieve the way you play soon ? like in 1 year ? Or were you playing really pro level ? Because the first performance was OUTSTANDING and I wonder what will it take to reach that point :o
+M. Fazy There are those who have a natural God given talent and those who work at it for a lifetime. I started piano at 5 yrs old and I'm 60 now! It doesn't happen overnight, but who knows, you may be one of the blessed?! Either way, never give up!
For this demonstration, did you record the external speakers or did you plug into the keyboard to record the sound? I just got the p45, but the external speakers are dreadful compared to the headphone quality. Wondering if that's an issue with my particular keyboard or the p45s in general.
As I said in the video, polyphony has been upgraded to 64 from 32, piano samples are new and improved, as well as the addition of several reverb effects. Other than these changes, they are very much the same.
I would say yes, it's very easy and has enough keys to accommodate most beginner pieces. the only complaint I have is that the different instruments sound pretty bad, but apart from that it's solid.
hola, para mi es muy similar a un piano de cola, auque se nota que es mas liviano, el sonido es exelente. soy principiante asi que no puedo decirte mas que eso. aprendi hacer 2 o tres temas y salen igualitos a los originales, saludos.
The review, though comprehensive in demonstrating the features (appreciate the different styles which were in keeping with the instrument sound being demonstrated) seemed a bit low key (sorry) and not too enthusiastic but the P-45 is a really good, low-cost option. I bought it primarily to use late at night, using headphones, but it was the sound of the organ and the quality of the action which convinced me to buy it. I've heard that some people consider the action to be a little heavy but my main piano is a conventional grand so I found it to be just fine. I compared the P-45 with a number of more expensive models including from Yamaha themselves but it held its own against them and provided all that I needed without any of the bells and whistles.
I'm a beginner to everything that has to do with music but I've tried to learn a lot now that I want to start to play the piano, but there are still a few things I don't understand. What's Midi and how can I use it? What things can you do with the USB thing? And is it possible the use headphones? That's one of the things I HAVE to have if (when) I buy a piano And for anyone reading, have a nice rest of your day! :)
i am also in the same boat (a beginner to music in general and want to start learning piano). I think you can plug in headphones (also important for me). Thinking of buying the P 45.
Hi David! Midi is used to play on PC, changing sounds and making it sounds better than it is! The USB helps to plug the piano into the PC and make amazing recordings! and yes! you can use headphones. I hope I came clear to you! Cheers
Using the FUNCTION key + certain piano keys. From the manual: "You can specify the Touch Sensitivity (how the sound responds to your playing strength). While holding down [GRAND PIANO/FUNCTION], press one of the A2 - C3 keys." A2 Fixed - The volume level does not change at all regardless of whether you play the keyboard soft or hard. A#2 Soft - The volume level does not change much when you play the keyboard soft or hard. B2 Medium - This is the standard piano touch response (default setting). C3 Hard - The volume level changes very widely from pianissimo to fortissimo to facilitate dynamic and dramatic expression. You have to hit the keys hard to produce a loud sound.
So many videos and you'ree the first one to record the sound of the yamaha in stereo (through a mixer I mean). Thank you.
I purchased my P45 about a month ago and I absolutely love it. I got the package with the L85 stand and a bench and it looks and plays great. Everything I wanted in a digital piano!

What kind of headphone jack does this piano have?
I believe one is 1/4, but is there a normal 3.55mm - 1/8 one?
Cant get a clear answer anywhere
Oskar You need an 6.5 mm one, you can just buy an adapter for yout 3.5 mm
Were do you put the headphones at ?
I really love the sound of the organ. That second organ is really heavy!

If that P-45 is as great a keyboard as the pianist you are, then I guess I'll buy one. My compliments on your talent Sir.
Great review, concise and very helpful 👍
Is there the possibility to plug in Headphones? The only reason why I'm buying a keybored is because I want to play silent for my own entertainment.
Most Definitely! Playing silent is a cool feature of the P45.

what kind of pedal is that? do you sell it? thanks...
+JONATHON SEAGULL A Yamaha FC5 Sustain Pedal. We do sell it indeed. Here is the link.www.nstuffmusic.com/p-11531-on-stage-ksp100-sustain-pedal.aspx
Thanks!!
For this demonstration, did you record the external speakers or did you plug into the keyboard to record the sound?
I just got the p45, but the external speakers are dreadful compared to the headphone quality. Wondering if that's an issue with my particular keyboard or the p45s in general.
All sounds you hear in this video are line outs to a pro tools rig. No built in speakers are used for this demo...
Whats the difference between p45 and p45b ?
+Masterpg2007 The B just means the color is black I believe, from what I've seen
Oh yeah, I found that today, it was the same thing with the 105, there is a 105 and 105b.
Great review, buddy!
Can you connect this digital piano with headphones? So that you are the only person who can hear what you play?
Not a problem! Just plug in and the speakers go silent. Great for private practice sessions or late night inspiration.

Thank you, that was very useful! I am thinking of buying it and this helped me!! :)
are these good for live??
Now if I am to give keyboard and voice lessons at a daycare, I could totally use that kind!
How many watts speaker?
What is the diference of the p-35? I have it
As I said in the video, polyphony has been upgraded to 64 from 32, piano samples are new and improved, as well as the addition of several reverb effects. Other than these changes, they are very much the same.
Thanks , one more question ...
How will I connect my p -35 to the computer and record audio and program use?
The answer is appreciated
*****
USB for midi program use and there is a headphone/audio output to access the audio.
Thanks :D
Sounds really good. Suena muy bien
Is this good for a beginner?
I would say yes, it's very easy and has enough keys to accommodate most beginner pieces. the only complaint I have is that the different instruments sound pretty bad, but apart from that it's solid.
Thanks for the reply! I don't think the different instruments will be much of a problem so I'll look into buying this.
Yes, and the advantage is that they keys feel like a real piano.
why wouldn't it be?
Can you play soft and loud by hitting the keys harder or softer? that would be a very nice feature...
yes it has key velocity
it has transpose in????? may i do c scale to c# ???
Yes, it can transpose.
That's one of the things I HAVE to have if (when) I buy a piano
And for anyone reading, have a nice rest of your day! :)
i am also in the same boat (a beginner to music in general and want to start learning piano).
Cheers
how can I set its touching sensitivity?
Using the FUNCTION key + certain piano keys. From the manual: "You can specify the Touch Sensitivity (how the sound responds to your playing strength). While holding down [GRAND PIANO/FUNCTION], press one of the A2 - C3 keys."
A2 Fixed - The volume level does not change at all regardless of whether you play the keyboard soft or hard.
It worth buy The p115? Or this is enouth?
The Yamaha p115 is a joke. So is the p45.
He seemed happy...
weight test on any key in gram
What was the last piece that you played after you stopped giving the guide?
Actually, that was a piece of original material from a couple of years ago. Thanks for asking.
Looks like he has a nicer sustain pedal than the one that came with mine…
wish I could at least play that jazz progression
first song name?
How would you compare this to the Roland FP-30? Thanks :)
Erich Lim if you've budget for Roland FP-30.. must buy that :)
