Shoot, I meant to brag more :-) the "bragging" is trying to convince listeners that what I'm showing them is worth watching. It doesn't matter how useful something is if it's not watched.
First of all, that's not bragging. If you know something worthwhile and you are sharing that with the world, you are allowed to "brag"... As much as you want to

Chords are certain combinations of notes to make a variety of sounds. Major and Minor are different types of chords you can play, which are based off of the notes you play. For example, if you play a C Major chord, your first finger (thumb) will be on a C note, your third finger (middle finger) will be on a E note, and your fifth finger (pinky) will be on a G note. That's what I got from it. I've never played piano, but I do play guitar a lot. I got interested in piano/keyboard, but I don't have one. I'm currently saving money to get one.
What an amazing video. It's so hard to find teachers who know how to eliminate all the unnecessary clutter and stick to what beginners need right now. Thank you so much!
I started to learn how to play the piano about 15 years ago, and DO have a basic understanding of music theory, but the simplicity of major and minor chords was never defined to me like this. I think it's awesome! Certainly beats trying to memorize all the chords. I'm anxious to see what ELSE he can simplify!
Yes, but this leads to the confusion that @InstantPianoGenius speaks of and why the numeric system is an easier way of learning. The method exploited here only displays 7 counts (Whole-Whole-Half-Whole-Whole-Whole-Half) and does not consider the root note. The full scale is 8 notes, so unless you state (Root-Whole-Whole-Half-Whole-Whole-Whole-Half) it does not add up only notates (Re-Me-Fa-So-La-Ti-Do) again, only 7 counts versus adding the root (Do-Re-Me-Fa-So-La-Ti-Do) that is 8 counts. 3-4 right next to each other and 7-8 right next to each other is a brilliant way of explaining it on a beginner based level. Video games have a symbol system approach: One could say a certain power move is Kick-Kick-Punch-Duck-Kick and deliver a superpower for the character. However, when taught it is learned as (Triangle-Triangle-Square-Circle-Triangle) and that is easier to grasp for the end-user than trying to remember what Kick or Punch is initially. The numeric system in relation to the piano is BRILLIANT for learning the essential patterns of scales and chords before the hassle of remembering notes because it will only circle back to the numbers game anyway with chord progressions (like the popular 2-5-1) and fuller chords (1-3-5-7-9-11-13) and/or their tight or wide inversions, etc. So starting with numbers, as done here, and where a musician ends up anyway makes complete sense.

Playing the piano require practice with both hands by doing drills/exercises. Music scales and chords are like patterns, it is important to remember each pattern scale to be able to see what you are playing. I consider myself to be a contemporary classical pianist with a strong background playing keyboards, etc. The more you practice your hearing will get sharper. Practice, practice and practice is the key to learn to play the piano or keyboards. Buying the musical instrument of your choice is the first step, practice 1 hour per day min, recommend 2 hrs, you will see results in a short time, Good luck!
+David Suazo I understand that practice is everything and I have been focusing on learning specifics of songs but what can I practice other than scales to make me more fluid on the piano in general?
I will encourage you to purchase a full size keyboard 76 key or 88, heavy weighted keys. Each finger has it own memory believe it or not. You can start by learning all your minor keys: C, D, E, F, G, A, B... C . this is 1 octave in the key of C mayor. Learn all the accords/Chorus of each note like for example the accord for C mayor will be: C, E, G. I feel that the best way for you is to start playing your accords with both hands, you start slowly, each hand has it own rule of finger position, so , you need to apply this single rule, why? because in order to play with both hands your hands have to be ready to play more complicated scales. Through the years I have learned that every good pianist or keyboardist have to practice everyday. If you don't practice you will never see good results, so, practice minimum 1-hour each day, I guarantee you results. I'm getting ready to launch a sequence of piano and keyboarding lessons for free. I feel that visual aids through video is the way go. Guitar Center has a poster for keyboard or piano where it shows all the music notes, relatives, etc. This poster is a good reference to have because it shows you the position of each note, accords, and relatives notes, etc. Your hands position is very important, each finger position is to be obey in according to how to play on each hand. My English is not good enough, for this very reason I will start making video lessons. You can always write to me at suazorecords@gmail.com In order to master the tempo through a song is necessary to play with both hands. All fingers are utilized when playing the piano/keyboard. If you would like to learn the right way, practice is the key.
I am a beginner pianist and this Numbering system makes WAAAAAY MORE SINCE than forcing a beginning to learn sheet music‼️‼️ This numbering system is way way way easier to learn and understand than sheet music will ever be. I could care less about music theory or even reading music. I just want to learn how to play the piano and play a song‼️‼️. This explains it‼️‼️ Thank you instant piano genius for this video‼️
I've been playing drums for 8 years but I always wanted to learn HOW TO PLAY THE PIANO. My one and Only goal is by the end of this year be able to play "Giant steps" on the piano, thats why im here. Happy new year everyone!
I've been playing drums for 11 years and I'm in the same position as you I want to learn different instruments, like guitar and piano, love this video, very helpfuk
+Cristiano S I started playing drums mainly and piano (intermittently) at 18... at 42 now I am so glad to have started with the piano and I feel blessed for making that decision. Primarily, because it literally keeps me young, but there are many benefits. In the present, I have mastered a whole style of sound and (in the last 5 years) after being able to make my hands independent from each other, it is a "whole new world" the piano itself (even a digital one, such as I have), especially if connected to a set of "stage speakers" (even if low) for rehearsals/practice, etc. You can accomplish a lot in these times with so many online tutorials and if you practice 2~3 times a week for 3~5hrs. a day, I definitely would recommend it, and you should progress at a higher rate than students trying to pursue this musical direction like 25 years (or more) ago, when the Internet was non~existent [as an educational tool]...
First Teacher who simplifies keyboard player, not those guys who come teach absolute beginners in 1 minute a move they have practiced for 1 month. Kudos to you boss, I have just subscribed to your channel all the way in Cape Town South Africa
I already knew these basics but the trick to just count from 1-8 and remember in numbers which notes are half steps and not full steps is a genius tip! All other tutorials tell you to learn to remember fullstep-fullstep-fullstep-halfstep..... to remember the scales which is WAY more difficult to remember than to just remember these numbers. Thank you so mcuh!
Oh my god. This lesson has changed my life. I have been trying to learn music since a long time.but nobody told me about this golden secret. Thank a ton Sir.
This video is my first step to learning piano/keyboard. I've always wanted to learn, for as long as I could remember. I learned how to play guitar and took guitar lessons, but Piano has always been my endgame, I just never learned it because I live in a small town where no one knows how to play or willing to teach. 25 years old I've decided to learn how to play myself. I'm bookmarking this video for when my keyboard comes in the mail and I can get started!
Marq Mac right!!! I use mpc so i placed notes all the time but could never play it on my keyboard straight live. I wanted to learn all the chords and tricks of key notes because i noticed some notes blend with others way out of range . So far since the numbers portion at the beginning of the video i realize i been doing it all wrong, and this is going to make it all right

This is way easier than looking at a colored scale for major/minor chords and trying to figure out how the crap to actually play them. This is so helpful and seems super practical and easy
This is actually pretty simple if you just really listen to him carefully and take your time watching it even if U have to watch it over and over you'll just be understanding it more.your brain will automatically train itself. Just takes time and practice very logic.
+Steve Kimble I go to school for this shit, so I didn't get lost, but it was very informative. Bottom line, watch it a couple more times, it's worth it :)
This is an amazing video! I think the people that don't understand the number system, or the ones that are getting totally lost, do not quite understand: what a scale is, playing in a certain key, or other music theory fundamentals. Also, in order for this to be helpful, you need to have a piano or keyboard in front of you to practice each concept after he introduces it. Once you have a grasp on it then continue watching to the next part of the video. Good luck learning!
Honest review? I came here after 5 years only to write this. This video works!! I thank God that I came across this video. It saved me, my time, my effort and my money.. Thank you so much Mr. Tim. You're a Gentleman first and then a great teacher and musician.
Wow. I've been playing the guitar for about 6 years now, and thought I'd grown enough to experience the motherboard. Well, thanks to this video, the keyboard/piano makes so much sense it's mind-boggling. Thanks for this video, dude!!!
That's great, Drew. Because I played piano first, when I play guitar I think of intervals and chords in terms of piano. With piano everything's laid out in front of you so you can SEE the notes and the intervals, etc. I'm not really sure how guitar players picture things in their head, since to me at least, it's all "hidden" in the frets. :-)
i could say the same thing about myself since im also a guitar player for 5 years now, and after watching this video i guess now the way music runs in my head is kinda more clear, because after all music isn't just notes on sheets nor a put-together sounds, it's more of an image that reflects the person using the methods i'v just pointed, i like this counting system i think it'd work pretty good for a new starter, and it is true that no one has ever tought me that although i used to take piano lessens when i was 5 or something, so here's a +1 and a sub sir.
InstantPianoGenius In my case as a guitar player I think of a fretboard as simply a series of movable shapes - be it the chords I know or the scales I know

Finally..... I found the video I watched 7 years ago to learn how to play the piano. I used to watch my older sister play the piano like a prodigy while I was just standing there, staring at her play and not knowing any single chord or note that my sister plays but just enjoying the vibe of the music. Now, I am 16 years old and I teach a kid from my school how to play the piano. I want to teach her first the basics so I have thought of this video that first taught me how to play the piano too. So, I searched up again for like a half an hour and finally, I found this video. I will send this to that kid and I am excited to see if she's going to be like me someday.
This is an amazing tutorial..thank you Tim..very clear and easy to follow..my 9 year old son is hooked to the piano after watching this video..and just after 10 days he is able to play many chords with ease..thanks a lot again Tim.

+David Suazo I understand that practice is everything and I have been focusing on learning specifics of songs but what can I practice other than scales to make me more fluid on the piano in general?
Greetings. Do you play piano or electric keyboard?
David Suazo electric keyboard
You can always write to me at suazorecords@gmail.com
In order to master the tempo through a song is necessary to play with both hands. All fingers are utilized when playing the piano/keyboard. If you would like to learn the right way, practice is the key.
"There is no difference between white and black"
Well, it's good to know he's not racist :^)
heh, a piano joke x3
you made my day hchdbzhsbxh lol
And size doesn't matter. :D
its still racist... threre is no asian color on it.. only black and white!
Joni Tan 😅😅😅.... lol.. they need to invent another piano/keyboard with Asian on it
I am a beginner pianist and this Numbering system makes WAAAAAY MORE SINCE than forcing a beginning to learn sheet music‼️‼️
This numbering system is way way way easier to learn and understand than sheet music will ever be.
I could care less about music theory or even reading music. I just want to learn how to play the piano and play a song‼️‼️. This explains it‼️‼️
Thank you instant piano genius for this video‼️
Holy shit, I just bought a keyboard and was going to take lessons, but now I change my mind. After watching ur video I dont need lessons..
Good job 👍, how is it coming along?
David Brown maybe not good because he hadn’t responded.
@@DavidBrown-dh7jf he is busy with simply piano now...lol

It's still better to take lessons than to learn on the Internet
I've been playing drums for 8 years but I always wanted to learn HOW TO PLAY THE PIANO. My one and Only goal is by the end of this year be able to play "Giant steps" on the piano, thats why im here. Happy new year everyone!
happy new year gbu!!!
+Cristiano S Haha it's my New Year's resolution
+Cristiano S ive been playing drums for 6 years, and im also here to learn piano haha
I've been playing drums for 11 years and I'm in the same position as you I want to learn different instruments, like guitar and piano, love this video, very helpfuk
+Cristiano S
I started playing drums mainly and piano (intermittently) at 18... at 42 now I am so glad to have started with the piano and I feel blessed for making that decision. You can accomplish a lot in these times with so many online tutorials and if you practice 2~3 times a week for 3~5hrs. a day, I definitely would recommend it, and you should progress at a higher rate than students trying to pursue this musical direction like 25 years (or more) ago, when the Internet was non~existent [as an educational tool]...
it is sound so easy,But i am trying my best ...You are a Legend man...
first 5 mins I was like wow he is such a good teacher,
the last 5 mins I was like wtf is going on here !
Me too 😅
Literally same!!
Yep
Yeah a little quick at the end.
By far the most advanced "Lesson 1" yet.
Same feeling bruv
First Teacher who simplifies keyboard player, not those guys who come teach absolute beginners in 1 minute a move they have practiced for 1 month. Kudos to you boss, I have just subscribed to your channel all the way in Cape Town South Africa
THIS IS THE WAY HOW THIS SHOULD BE TAUGHT. PERIOD.
So glad to be here.
Me, at the beginning: I can't do this, I'm a failure.
.
.
Me, at the end: I am THE piano genius.
Hey how’s your piano journey? I am a beginner if you have any tips for me then please share:)
Oh my god. This lesson has changed my life. I have been trying to learn music since a long time.but nobody told me about this golden secret. Thank a ton Sir.
Wow I've learnt more in these 10 mins than I had watching hours worth of other tutorials. Nice one, 1-8 is a great method
How is it going?
Have you been playing ?
I Lové It!!!
It gave me just thé push I needed to Dust off my old midi and get back to playing
Same !
My brain has never been happier understanding this so much simpler
holy shit. been playing by ear all my life. this video lifted the veil so to speak. it is all clear to me now.
Marq Mac right!!! I use mpc so i placed notes all the time but could never play it on my keyboard straight live. I wanted to learn all the chords and tricks of key notes because i noticed some notes blend with others way out of range . So far since the numbers portion at the beginning of the video i realize i been doing it all wrong, and this is going to make it all right
Same here xD
Played all the time by ear and it sounds actually good, but know I know what I can do better. :-)
FACTS
I knew there's gotta be some sort of technique in learning how to play piano than hearing the old fashion and boring way from our music teachers 🤣. Finally this guy was generous enough to share it with us. Bravo! Thank you sir!
Me: i want to learn piano.
Also me: doesn’t understand a single thing 😂
Team Celena I feel you 😂

well i spend my 15 years as wating to learn piano and lately just started to learn piano XD it been 8 months and i wish i were start like a 10 years ago at least XD You can check my lates upload i just uploaded my practice session for the first time hehehe i still need a few years more to be decent tough
My whole piano game changed, a few years back when i stumbled upon this masterpiece video... I was able to easily play and sing along on piano.. ❤ So Grateful. And still learning...
I might have to watch this a few times cause i totally got lost.
+Steve Kimble I go to school for this shit, so I didn't get lost, but it was very informative. Bottom line, watch it a couple more times, it's worth it :)

+Steve Kimble exactly!!
+Steve Kimble Too right. I got a headache! started easy! dramatically went nasa
During the Quarantine I don't know what else I'm going to watch. Thank you China.
please upload more videos, you are an awesome teacher !!
The number system is a better way
Espen Steven
The number system is how i was taught just never stuck with it
Superb. This numbering system can help many of us to play so well. I really appreciate your support and help. Good on you.
Definitely, man. It's an arduous journey, but if you stay the course, it's a lovely instrument to have under your belt.
Cheers, dude. SERIOUSLY.
i could say the same thing about myself since im also a guitar player for 5 years now, and after watching this video i guess now the way music runs in my head is kinda more clear, because after all music isn't just notes on sheets nor a put-together sounds, it's more of an image that reflects the person using the methods i'v just pointed, i like this counting system i think it'd work pretty good for a new starter, and it is true that no one has ever tought me that although i used to take piano lessens when i was 5 or something, so here's a +1 and a sub sir.
InstantPianoGenius In my case as a guitar player I think of a fretboard as simply a series of movable shapes - be it the chords I know or the scales I know
hi everyone ,if anyone else trying to find out beginner kettlebell program try Alkarno Kettlebell Alchemist (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my brother in law got amazing success with it. Try it. I'm sure you won't regret it.

Samuel Abraham so give it to me straight, can you play piano or not
Nelson Arias I believe I can find my way around the piano
10 months later, give it to me straight, can you play piano?
Yes
Finally..... I found the video I watched 7 years ago to learn how to play the piano. I used to watch my older sister play the piano like a prodigy while I was just standing there, staring at her play and not knowing any single chord or note that my sister plays but just enjoying the vibe of the music. Now, I am 16 years old and I teach a kid from my school how to play the piano. I want to teach her first the basics so I have thought of this video that first taught me how to play the piano too. So, I searched up again for like a half an hour and finally, I found this video. I will send this to that kid and I am excited to see if she's going to be like me someday.
I just wished my piano teacher taught me this years ago...well done
This is an amazing tutorial..thank you Tim..very clear and easy to follow..my 9 year old son is hooked to the piano after watching this video..and just after 10 days he is able to play many chords with ease..thanks a lot again Tim.
Wonderful! :-)
I was very curious about the minor and major but then after watching other version right after this one it became so easily recognizable this has helped me so much as an beginner
This saved me quite a few hours + made the fretboard on the guitar more 'readable'? for me instantly.
What a gem to find when starting out.
Why am I here I don't even own a piano lmao
Majda Cekic Download a piano app
I know this is old but i cant find any apps.
pianoist is a good one

Majda Cekic You should know it rather than asking us. Overacting ki aulad hai ye sale Angrez. Foolish.
I like how while im learning to play the piano, i'm getting flipped off in the process unintentionally
This is amazing after 11yrs this is still relevant and helpful
Tim, you are the absolute best teacher, eliminating all the bs and just cutting to the chase...
This video is absolutely fantastic and changes the way I look at a piano. I always looked a piano as very very difficult to play and I thought I could never learn it but this video changes my mind. I play bass guitar but have always loved piano and I can read sheet music a little.
"there's white notes and black notes. They're all equal"

Dear Friend,
What a wonderful person you are. Thank you so much for simplifying your skillset. I have loved music and keyboard/synthesis since childhood and always dreamt of learning. I'm a 50yr old father of 4 and have just have access to a Casino CTK-3200 and just completed lesson one. Amazing!!! I wish you the greatest success and happiness. I hope your day is wonderful and I hope you and your family's future is full of love and joy. You have inspired me to commit to daily practice. Sending you love and all green light from Sydney Australia.

This is absolutely amazing and motivating - thanks for your videos. I learnt so much more in 20 mins than i have in my piano classes lol - unbelievable.
Great to hear!
All music classes from elementary school, middle school, high school, choir and music theory in college combined taught me less than in this short video. All my life I wanted to play and simply couldn't understand and gave up after college. I'm slow to learn when it comes to math and music. If only I had been taught this as a child. I'm 29.
I am 29 too and its been two days i have been praticing one day i will play (chopin-spring waltz ) and (van halen- right now) bad in music and math too hahaha ... Its alright its never too late to keep trying just dont stop
I got lost at 0:00 , didn't understand a word he said throughout the video, went to the next one and was like "uh uh, gotta go back, I feel like I'm lost in a black hole"
ROFL!! My thoughts exactly :D
David, he goes way too fast.
just put the speed to 0.75 or 0.50
I thought it went to slow. The main thing he's teaching us is that in Major Chords 3 then 2 keys in between and reverse the 3 and 2 for a minor
David I know me 2 and in my opinion he was going way to fast
BEST TEACHER EVER.....👍🏻👍🏻
Damn my dude... this explanation is as comprehensible as it is packed with information as much as it is fast, so I'll be watching this several times alright...
I think it's one of, if not thé best video on quickly learning to play the piano/keys, that I've come across! Thank you! this really helps!
This was one of the easiest lesson I found on youtube. If every piano teacher teach like this😁❤
Brilliant, thanks!
WOAH I'M MINDBLOWNED. I BOUGHT A KEYBOARD AND I THOUGHT IT'LL BE A HARD THING TO LEARN BUT BY WATCHING THIS, EVERYTHING NOW IS EASIER...
