such a great vid bro i have these on flat but have trouble doing them off curbs and stuff but thanks to the corner to corner advice i can see the heelflip more clearly now
Hey Sean, great video! I am particularly having problems with the board going behind me, and committing with both feet (can land heelflips fine when holding on to a fence, and have landed a proper one once or twice). My problem is mainly that I can only focus on fixing one aspect at a time, which means when I try to commit my brain can't focus on both leaning on my heels and sucking up my legs. Trying to focus on both things is too much cognitive load. So when I focus on sucking up my legs I don't do the proper flick as I am prematurely sucking my legs back in. And when I think of keeping my body straight I forget about bringing up my legs. What do you think would be the best approach to fixing this? Is it just about really focusing on fixing one aspect at a time?
The reason heelflip is so tricky to me is that how you pop slightly affects if the board is popping straight or slightly backside or frontside. On a kickflip those minor differences are terribly important because you have line of sight to your foot and the flick point. On a heelflip you can kind of see it but it’s much harder and more of a blind flick. This causes people to lose the trick when they thought they had it - likely because something about their pop changed and their flick hasn’t adjusted yet. When I watch someone else heelflip there are different styles where some people are kicking their leg almost out and then very toe side while others go about the same angle as a kickflip but towards the toe side. I think these are all valid, but that they’re calibrated to the pop. In short, I think the more dialed in your pop positioning and mechanics are, the easier it is to find your flick and get used to it.
Hey everyone ! I have a little problem with heelflips :( so when I try to lend it , my second leg lend and the pop leg never lend , I don’t understand how to lend it. Pls some tips 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
It's really just commitment by that point. If you can land it with your front foot only then it's already there. Try working on tucking your knees up as you do the trick but maybe not necessarily committing yet for practice. Check out 5:05 in the video to see me go over that.
Hmmm that might be because you're tilting your shoulder more towards your back foot as you do the trick. Try seeing if you can shift your weight to be more on your front foot

Happy to help!
0:48 the board flips 360 degrees around its longitudinal axis, actually - 180 when it faces griptape down, another 180 and it's griptape up again
You're right, I actually meant to say that but had a brain fart haha
@@seanbrownskating it happens! great video, anyways, hope to finally get my heelflips on lock with your tips

I find heelflip easier then the kickflip somehow

just sk8
I always tend to have to board too far out in front. Nose end not side front.

My board keeps landing upside down (switch heel)
Switch heels are tough. I have that same issue. Sometimes scooting my heel up the board even more than what I talked about in the video has helped
@@seanbrownskating up or off the board ?
