When you show maps, it would be helpful if you didn't play videos in the background: It makes it difficult to read them. Also, a little animation showing thrusts and battles would greatly improve the video.

Lal Bahadur Shastri 's little known repartee to President Gen . Ayub Khan of Pakistan.
Gen Ayub was a hurly burly , Sandhurst trained Pathan. Ayub Khan used to feel very superior to Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji 's height.
Lal Bahadur Shastri ( around Indo- Pak War of 1965 ) -
"Gen Ayub Khan Kahate Hein Ki Yeh Hindustani Kya Ladengey. Yeh Log To Dhoti Pehentey Hain.

Failure has a different connotation in Pakistan. The mother of all ironies is Pakistan's "Defence Day" which is celebrated every year on the 6th of September to commemorate its utter DEFEAT in 1965. It's the war where Pak came to take Srinagar but ended up losing Lahore.

It is generally believed here that Operation Grand Slam was successful but at the eleventh hour, Yahya Khan took command and messed up the attack. But the information secretary of Ayub Khan, Altaf Gohar, has written in his book, "Ayub Khan" that this operation had failed, and when President realized that, he gave the command to Yahya Khan to wrap up the action. Yahya Khan was actually starting to withdraw troops when the Indians attacked Lahore.

This supposed success caused the conflict to spread into punjab proper and near Lahore. Pak army expected India to only fight on the Kashmir sector across the LOC and IB. Pak armys actios. On a divisional level are well rehersed and executed. But overall there is no clear war goal present in any of the wars.
The only victory was Yahya dictatorship and the battlefields near Lahore which are Defense housing Colony 6-8 and Paragon city.
So kudos you Pakistani citizens on this glorious achievement of DHAs which was claimed in the name of Grand slam.

no , The Operation Gibraltar went badly. The plan was to infiltrate thousands of troops into Jammu and Kashmir, India in the guise of 'mujahideen', who would carry out sabotage to demoralise the Indian forces and incite the local population to revolt. But the local population did not rise, the infiltrators were quickly identified and the Indian Army began to hunt them down.[19] In addition, the Indian Army moved across the cease-fire line to cut off the Pakistani infiltration routes and captured the Haji Pir pass in Azad Kashmir and some heights in the Kargil sector.[20]

@@sports-pirate There is no confusion about operation Gibraltar. I was asking about operation grand slam. It was launched to capture jummu. Here people believe that it was successful but at the 11th hour commander akhtar Hussain was removed and yahya was brought as commander which jeopardized operation. But Altaf Gohar, a civilion, has written that it was a failure from the beginning that's why yahya was brought to wrap up the whole action. What is the reality.

    1. Indian Army never seems to have learnt its lessons- it failed to know that the Chinese built a road cutting us out of Aksai Chin in 1949, it could not anticipate Chinese attack in Oct 1962, it failed in 1965 miserably, and in 1999, in Kargil as well as in 2020 in Galwan again!! Every time we are taken by surprise, when as we look back, we come to know that there were enough indications for the Army to anticipate what could go wrong and take adequate precautions. 2. Indian troops cover these grave errors by giving a gallant performance in the battle field and many become martyrs. 3. Hope at least from now on, we do not encounter such failures by the Army.
