    The only thing India needs to do right now is to focus on how it is going to bring broad-based economic reforms and reduce extreme poverty.
    As of now, India is a strong country and holds quite a high stature internationally but once India reaches those double digits in GDP then these backhand comments by western countries would be handled effectively

      It has to be both an outside and an inside job. In addition to the structural changes you suggest, we should invest in education that inspires inclusive dialogue, discarding of the poverty and survival consciousness that has gripped Indians for last 500 years, recognition of the role, contribution and necessity for wealth generation and generators, and turning inward to transform our collective consciousness based on the truths of our great civilization. Any economic clout garnered will be enhanced by the underlying foundation.

Becoming a manufacturing hub, rather than a service providing hub, which we're now. Improving our public infrastructure drastically etc.

      This way of approaching things is exactly the way our MEA ministers use to handle things. It is very important to look at recent developments from a Pakistani political perspective to properly understand how to counter their moves. And if you just want chest thumping devoid of critical analysis, there are enough media channels fulfilling that requirement of yours. When it comes to the game of geopolitics, analysis should be cold, which CtC does hence filling an informational void.

    India should focus more on her economic growth. Look at China, they don’t care what a country larger then them in population thinks about them, only because they are economically much stronger than any of their neighbouring nation. So why should India care so much about pakistan? Pakistan can continue their reliance on western aid. And hence they have to go to IMF for bailouts twice every decade. Western companies are not going to set up their factories and research facilities in pakistan even if the western government forces the companies to do so. They will stick to countries that have better policies, stable government and educated youth. Even now when US and China’s relationship is going through the lowest point, having started a trade war, US has not been able to stop US companies from investing in China or completely withdraw from China. Western government can do a lot of things but being the torchbearer of capitalism they can’t force their companies from a particular nation until and unless the said nation has committed a huge act of aggression against humanity, in that case US along with her western allies would be quick to impose sanctions. Pakistan is going to stay the same, inherently dependent on western aid for their survival. Once the west stops providing aid for a brief period like what happened during Trump’s tenure, pakistan would again move to IMF for another bailout.

US and Germany have woken up to the cause of Kashmir. Would appreciate if this is uncluttered. Our logical thinking suggests India's refusal to join western block in Russia Ukrain war and also purchase of oil from Russia against US sanctions seemed to have irked western Nations and they use Pakistan as a tool to corner India for this.

    Taking this discussion on a slight tangent, the main reason we are discussing this is the West is upset with India on its stance on the Russian war and is trying to piss us off by engaging with Pakistan. I'm very curious to understand your take on why the Indian bureaucracy is not more strongly against the Russian invasion. Our growth & prosperity is more aligned with the West. Most of our IT guys go to US/Europe and not to Russia. Much of our exports are also in that region (US - 18% vs Russia 0.85%). In general, the West also has better weapon systems than Russia if we want to import future weapons (although Make in India is the way to go here). Spare for our current Russian equipment is certainly a risk if we go against Russia. But I would argue that because of the Ukraine war, it is anyway at risk. i.e. tomr is there is an attack on India, Russia will not be able to supply us with spares due to the current Ukraine conflict. Why burn the political capital on something that is not just in the first place? After all Ukraine is a democracy and should have the right to chart its own future. Russia is not an economic power and the people of Ukraine feel that their needs will be better served aligning with Europe than with Russia. Surely Russia cannot force them based on their military might.

    • @reach2prasanna
      @reach2prasanna ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're absolutely right in saying that India's best interests is in aligning with the west. But this not the right time to do it. Russia invaded Ukraine on a whim, without any warning. If we jump ship now India will lose all its reputation as a non-aligned country, which has historical ties with Russia and being a bad ally. Instead I see Indian government is already taking steps to reduce its reliance on Russian weapons and its oil. This'll be a long process, just like the process of reducing the dependence of imports from China. But the wheels have started rolling.

    • @shreeram79
      @shreeram79 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You really would not want a Russia-China alignment that is against India. That was one of the very few things Nehru had succeeded in.
      We don’t need to conform to any bipolar alignment. If the West still has the Iraqi war era rhetoric of “if you are not with us you are against us” then they will continue isolating themselves. It is just detrimental to them, not to India.
      Geopolitics isn’t a binary where people will refuse to engage for such reasons. Look at their trade with China despite the fact that most countries dislike them.
