The story goes that when Margaret first saw the statue in 1931, she said that it looked like her uncle Oscar !

I think one of the movies should have best original score and maybe visual effects and at least a Oscar nomination for Ralph fiennes
im a LOTR fan myself,but i think Prisoner of Azkaban deserve atleast 1 oscar.

Overtime I grew out of Harry Potter but now I'm realising it is a consistently good series. I don't think it's that great but I reckon atleast one or two of the movies deserve some type of Oscar.
Saying that Harry Potter deserved oscars is like saying that Home Alone or Jumanji deserved oscars.. they are good pieces of entertainment, and they hold a place in our hearts, but they are just not at the oscars level, I wish it was not the case but it is

The fact that Interstellar, Arrival, Dead Poets Soceity and Shutter Island did not win more Oscar kills me.
Interstellar won for best visual effects, Arrival won for best sound editing, Dead Poets Society won for best screenplay.
But, yeah, they all deserved better.

The Shawshank Redemption was nominated in 7 categories for an Oscar (one of it for best picture) but didn’t win any. That doesn’t take away that it is a fantastic movie!

@@eyan1114 the ones after 1960 or so would surely not be boring. The ones before that might be a little boring because filmmaking styles were different back then and we aren't used to those styles anymore.
@@ritam8767 but you can get into it. I have been watching a lot of 40's and 50's movies recently, and I learned very quickly to like them. Look out for the best Noir movies, I bet you'll have a good time. Also there are great westerns, look for the ones directed by John Ford, Hawks and Anthony Mann. Stagecoach is one of the most impressive movies I have seen in my life, the action scenes are so intense and real. Japanese movies are also great entertainment.

Titanic is a really great movie with great production and direction, with love theme and disaster concept, with great soundtrack and film score. Besides that, it was made in 1997, the year where technologies still limited but managed to win 11 oscars.
James horner was one of the greatest film composers in the history of cinema. RIP

Recreated historical costumes and recreated Titanic, by scientific expeditions are not good enough? Maybe you weren't impressed with the visuals, especially for 1997? Cameron invited 17 studios to create special effects, many of which were first used in the film industry. A sinking ship, falling people, flying around the ship? Is the sound weak? Was Cameraman performing a simple task? All those scenes in the water? General plans? The song that became a 1 hit and the soundtrack in the movie? A director who worked on such hard shots, managing a crowd of extras?James personally made 12 dives to the Titanic on the Mir-1 and Mir-2 bathyscaphes. At the stage of preparation, his team built a mock-up of the liner almost in full size. So-so scenery? Could you not give an Oscar for such nonsense?
It is prestigious for a film to receive 5 Oscars: best film, screenplay, director, actor, actress. This is called the "Big Five". Titanic, by the way, received only 2 of these.Only three films were awarded the "big five Oscars" (for best picture, best screenplay, best actor, best Actress, best director) - "It Happened one Night" (1934), "Flying over the Cuckoo's Nest" (1975) and "The Silence of the Lambs" (1991).

@@someguyinazoo to be fair, the adaptation of LOTR was godly and in HP, Ron was reduced to a comic relief.
sometimes you need to look at what the other awards are for and situations. Other than Malek's Best Actor, everything is sound related and editing. While The Godfather took 2 of the big four (Picture,Actor) along with Adapted Screenplay. Also I think the fact that they had three actors up for supporting actor (Pacino, Duvall and Caan) split the votes for that award.
Seeing a LOTR movie at the top brings a smile to my face. One trilogy to rule them all
Ben Hur is such a masterpiece, It's definitely the best movie I've ever seen in my entire life and hardly any movie will top it, unfortunately it's so underrated, this movie deserves every award it's won

The fact that The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King has all the Oscars makes me shed tears of happiness, because it is my all-time favorite movie, it is the one that together with its predecessors makes me feel like it is the first time that I see them, a new beginning, a new journey, with an ending so moving and so epic. Thanks to their stories, and their soundtracks, it is that they generate a sea full of emotions for me.
The trilogy will always have a place in my heart.

It's not enough to be a good movie in order to win oscars, you also have to put in account the competition. See what happened in 1994? Epic movie clash...

Kind of weird that Pulp Fiction did not win an Oscar but people will totally agree that it is the best movie of the 90's.
Pulp Fiction did win one Oscar For Best Screenplay written directly For the screen. It had Seven nominations. It was nominated For best picture but the Oscar went to Forrest Gump, also a great movie.

The 90s sure had a lot of great movies, like: Forrest Gump, The Matrix, Jurassic Park, Pretty Woman, Schindler’s List, The Truman Show, Good Will Hunting, Fight Club, Goodfellas, saving Private Ryan, The Silence of the Lambs, The Shawshank Redemption, Seven, Heat, Trainspotting, Unforgiven, JFK, L.A. Confidential, The Usual Suspects. And for sure there are a lot more good movies from the 90s. I’m sure I haven’t mentioned them all ( there are also a lot of animated movies). So what exactly is the best movie of the 90s. Don’t know! For sure it’s personal taste, but also in time people changes and so do their taste of movies. I would have to watch them all again to make a list of my best movies now!

Yes indeed, although a fantastic movie, Fight club was only nominated for the category best effects, sound effects editing.
Even the sound effects and editing were not that amazing. You need to be happy about the nominations. But at least better than Black Panther in nearly every way, the most ridicilous thing is Black Panther has 3 Oscars.

The Broadway Melody, Grand Hotel, and Mutiny On The Bounty, all won best picture that didn't make the list in this video, lol. the requirement was 2 wins or more. all those 3 best picture movies won 1 Oscar each.

Haven’t seen the two movies you mentioned. So I can’t say anything about it. The only other Bong Joon Ho movie I have seen was Snowpiercer. Will put the two movies you mentioned on my watchlist. My watchlist keeps getting longer and longer....LoL 👍✅😃
