Just had a United Aviate interview last week. Hopefully, I get accepted.
good luck! is that a cadetship program?
Dude just go part 61 or 141. The wait list of that program is insane
I hope you're not whyte lol
@@FlywithMikey96I agree

I've been in piloting school for a month now, and man, the learning curve is rough. But every single time I went back up in the air to fly, it kept motivating me to push through it. Videos like this are really getting me more excited to get to this position of airline pilot, especially since it's been a dream job of mine since I was a kid.
awh same, except im not in a school and really want to get into one, but budget's the problem rn
Student pilot here. Thank you for this. My training has gotten “mundane” and it can be overwhelming sometimes to where I’m like “gosh I don’t even want to go in why am I doing this” I gotta see the bigger picture. This is my dream✈️
Does pilot training requires you to be good at physics and math?
@@abdirizakyasin simple math bro I was a D and F student in math if I can do it so can you💀
@@JorgeAlxsRod tnx man appreciate the encouragement

I feel that right now and I haven't even started..
I'm in 9th grade and I really wanna be a pilot when I graduate. This has really helped narrow down my choices. Thanks! 😁
Great video. I have been a pilot for 30 years, and an International Gulfstream Captain since 2012. My son is getting ready to head to ATP for flight training soon. I feel like the sooner he can get in the pipeline, the better. As much as I enjoy flying corporate, there's no denying that the airlines have some massive benefits, especially if you have the years to give. It's a great time to be a pilot.
Hello Bryan! I was skeptical about “ATP”. Do you really think that’s a good place to start pursuing a career in aviation? I want to make sure I don’t make any mistakes and waists my money.
@@isiahbrooks818ATP is a factory. Get your initial PPL from a small part 61 school with a professional instructor. And then you may want to get further ratings there as well. ATP instructors are just recent students and they’re just not good. ATP also overcharges.
@@isiahbrooks818it is it is a great place 😂😂
@@isiahbrooks818 Hi! Current ATP student. I started about a month ago and I am about to transition to my TOL's eval and I and say that in a month with studying, already passing the PAR, and about 11 flights in, I am enjoying my progression a lot. It really depends on what you want your end goal to be. ATP advertises to its students that it has a fast track program to the airlines. A lot of that fast track progression is because of the self study that each student puts in and the constant flying that we have as well.
Although if you are interested in pursuing a career in aviation, I would do research first. Regardless of choosing ATP or a different flightschool, the cost of all of the training and progression towards the checkrides can be pricey. If you haven't already, I would go on a discovery flight with a local flight school to really get the feel of flying in one of their training aircraft to see if it is the right choice for you.
Heard horrid things of AtP. But i guess it has it perks. Many airline partnerships being that theyre so big. Good financing options
Just got my instrument rated and it was tough, watching these videos help keep the motivation
I am a newly high school senior planning on pursuing aviation so these videos are perfect timing
I'm really happy to be seeing you do these types of videos again! You were the first pilot that I started watching when I decided that I want to follow my dream and seeing you progress and what you have overcome is so awe inspiring! Thanks Garrett :)

Waiting for my CFII Checkride. Was suppose to be today, but the dpe was a no show! started watching garrett beggining of last year.

Happy to watch your videos. Love your informations that you sharing based on your own experience ❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing our industry.😊
Have a discovery flight planned for this weekend so I'm getting ready to start my own journey. Super excited to take that first step towards my dream!
How did it go?
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. You bring up great points and are well-spoken. This motivates me to keep pushing through my flight training, so that I can fly airplanes- something that brings me great joy- for a living! I'd also be curious to know about how you thought of "side gigs" that occupy your time off.
You can do it, @mpepi8778. Jesus love you : He took your place of punishment by allowing Himself to be nailed to a cross - undeserving of punishment because He is holy and perfect, without sin. He did that - knowing that all of us sinners deserve punishment for breaking God's law, something we can never repay - so those who believe will be saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ 💙 please do not rebuke Him, anyone who does not believe in Him will be judged harshly for their sins. Time is running out, your faith should lie in Him. He loves you and will save you , for He is the way, truth and life (John 14:6 ). If you reject Jesus you will be casted into eternal punishment - hell. Jesus loves you. Amen. Here's a prayer for you from Daily Prayer For You:

Pilot Garrett, your posts are very wonderful. Thank you very much for your interview. I wish you a beautiful, sunny and successful week. Happy flight and safe landing of the plane ☀️🌊🏖️🏝️🛫🛬🧑✈️✈️
I never realized all the benefits of being an airline pilot. But again well deserved for all the responsibility that comes along with the job. I love your videos. Always informative and the added benefit you’re easy on the eyes! Lol ❤
Man this sounds awesome! I’m 15 right now and I’m thinking about lots of job opportunities because I want to have a successful and happy future, I’m definitely going to do more research on airline piloting as a job alongside some others. Have a good day!
Cannot wait to get through all the training and get this career change rolling. Airline pilot central stays open in my browser just looking at all the new updates on pilot rates 😂😂

Greetings & Happy Holidays. Thank you for these very informative videos. I'm curious, where did you go to school to learn to fly? Also, what pilot pipeline program did you select coming out of school?

Great video! I have been in healthcare for the last 20 yrs but love to travel and fly. Last summer travel from Boston to Iceland. Absolutely love it! Wish i did not have to go to work at the hospital every day. Do you think it is too late to get a pilot license and start a new career?
God bless you for your service to humanity. Peace be unto you and your family.
At the moment, I am studying Meteo ATPL. Thanks for the video and motivation I really need it, for those that want to pursuit this career I strongly recommend the test are hard but definitely not impossible.

Hi Garrett. Really enjoy the videos and behind the scenes of the Pilot life. Just a quick question. Are you required to have or get a passport to be hired by a Regional carrier, especially since you are only flying in the U.S.? Thanks and keep up the great work.
I just love listening to your voice ❤️
Garrett’s favorite overnight in the regionals was Tri-cities!
great video, garrett. super insightful to see the QOL at the airlines. i’m about 2 months into flight school. about to do my first solo long distance flight
How did it go man?
@@ammanpandde5097 everything is going smoothly so far. just did my 3rd solo xc. flew 2.5 hours by myself today actually. moving on to checkride prep
Hey man I’m really considering going to flight school but i wondering what is the work load like as a student? Is it more in the books studying or more in the air flying completing your hours?
@@bud7861 flights are only 2 hour blocks. 60-90 min of actual flight time. so the rest of your time will be studying. unless you have other obligations, especially in the beginning, just focus on immersing yourself in everything aviation. it takes a lot of focus and memorization. it’s similar to chess, you want to stay a few steps ahead of the airplane at all times
Thanks for the video 😊
Congrats on your pay raise yesterday. I'm with Delta and My brother is at American as well.
I am currently doing my PPL in Quebec city, Canada and you are such an inspiration!

oooh I guess it's been a minute since I've seen one of your videos... congrats on making Captain!
It’s not his actual uniform.
I'm in the UK and things are very different over here. Especially with budget carriers it can be very difficult to get a day off when you want one and the amount of seniority you have makes no difference whatsoever. The pay is a lot less than $100 an hour for FO - halve that figure and you'll be about right. There are no or negligible staff travel concessions unless you make it to the likes of BA.
I'm not trying to rain on your parade Garrett and I really enjoy your videos and I would agree that being an airline pilot has many plus points but I think it's important that guys this side of the pond go into the career with their eyes open. It's not until they are able to graduate to the likes of BA or Emirates that they will see terms and conditions approaching those in the USA that you mention.
I’m also in the UK wanting to be a pilot , is it worth it ?

Can you do a video talking about the schooling process of becoming a pilot?
I think he has already done one. Perhaps check his previous videos
I think the last video was before covid or around that time. It is good to get a updated video. Things change. I’m also interested in this as I’m getting ready for my first medical exam. Haven’t picked a school yet.

Great video Garret!
Please do a video on paths possible to take to become an airline pilot when funding is a problem. Lucky you being happy flyer....well done
Nice vid man ❤️🔥
Just recently started really thinking about becoming. pilot myself ive been studying to fly drones because I love the views but I dont think there is enough money in it.... now becoming a pilot might be something id want to try for a few years instead of working on a cruise ship.
hey garret do you know the difference of pay between canadian and american airline pilots. Is there much of a difference at all between the two?
I’ve been going back and forth from wanting to fly helicopters or planes to military to civilian. Seems airline you get paid a shit Ton more but less of a life. Same with military, Helicopter’s you get paid fuck all for a long time but better hours and are really in control of the aircraft & flying missions. I am insanely passionate about all things flying, the only thing that really puts me off the airline industry is the control. How much are you actually doing whilst in the air? Are you just pressing autopilot and kicking back or are you flying it?
Hi Garrett! I was wondering what aircraft do u fly, and for what airline?
I just got my CFI and feel like i’m just getting started. Takes forever to get the airlines. One day though.
Whats pay like in the uk for narrow body FOs and captains and wide body FOs and captains
Traveling and Seeing the world would bet biggest motivation in becoming a pilot, but honestly some of the close calls in the air from unruly passengers to problematic aircrafts would be my biggest concern.
Everything you mentioned is valubale and important. I really wanna know if now is still a good time to start an aviation career to become a pilot and find a job since we here about pilot shortage, so any thoughts about that? How long do you think that the shortage will last before the airlines resolve it?
Right now every estimate puts the shortage lasting 2-3 decades.
So you have plenty of time.
Hey Garrett! Any advice during instrument rating???
Easy jet pilot ere. Bin flyin since 2015. Corperal captain 3 STRAP. You can do it guys takes abit of cash outta ya pockettt but easy wen tha puts ya head to it. Sum tames I fell like given up but tha knows what. Am ere na swoopin swoopin thru clouds like a dove bird 🦅 epic
He’s back
I love this! The only downfall is getting through flight training and the massive cost. With the profits all these airlines are making you would think they would start recruiting cadets and footing the bill of training until they can get the 1,500 TT flight hours. In turn candidates sign contracts binding them to time owed for x amount of years. Once this is done, I can almost guarantee, your shortage will diminish. Grab people off the streets and put them through training. All these airlines can afford to do so, I guantee it.
I believe some do, but you need to be an employee first
This.
Like the trucking industry
How do international AA pilot shifts work? For example, if you leave from JFK, do you get to LHR and then return to JFK or can they send you to LAX etc?
I always been trying to get on as a flight ✈️ attendant but not yet got hired for all the benefits and the free flights? It’s always been a dream for me is to become an a flight ✈️ attendant

Thank you. I got my commercial license. But I need to get in the hours. Without working for an airline, you can’t get the hours. Catch 22. I wish I had joined a cadet scheme. You can be with an airline by 46 or so. And fly for 19 years between Part 121 regional and major. Then fly for a NetJets, or Flexjet, or other Part 135 operators into your 70s if you desire. All depends on ability to maintain medical.

Do you have any advice for someone to get into this career being in a situation like mine?
I’m a commercial pilot building flight time! It’s tough but can’t wait till I’m at atp minimums
I have 60hrs and still feel that anxiety and nervousness before I fly. Does that go away eventually when you become experienced?
@@Adam-hx1gw yes, it does go away, but everyone is different. I recommend keeping your personal minimum’s high for a while until you feel more confident. Start flying with more experienced pilots that will help you adjust to lower personal minimums.
