Re: College - I've heard plenty of pilots say you should get the 4 year degree in something that isn't flying. The airlines don't care what your degree is in, so get a degree that will give you a backup plan if flying doesn't work out. There are a lot of things that can derail a pilot career even if you love it, from recessions to medicals to technological changes.

I’m certified in CDL-A and have driven over the road all across every state in the USA for over a year with a contract done by Prime Inc. I loved it! Definitely have a $130K a year career in a drop of a hat. Do not discount the CDL-A route, instant jobs and good money. No degrees needed.

Remember the scene from Top Gun, ... 💭
      Every good pilot does ☺️
Remember the scene from Top Gun where "Maverick" decides to quit flying and is sitting at the bar, ...
Or where he's sitting at the air field on the back his Kawasaki Ninja bike watching the air field lights (rabbit)
That's the other thing as I began this comment every pilot has done both of these watched the movie Top Gun too many times to count as well as considered walking away from this.
When that happens, go back to where it started for you, for me it was just as the character in that movie at the airport watching airplanes.
Blessing and Good luck with the CFI, CAVU and tailwinds.

You are my favorite content creator. You helped me realize that I want to do something different with my life. I want to fly and I honestly never knew that before. I didn't come from an aviation family so I was never around it. So it took me a long time to find this. It wasnt until I came to Florida around all the flight schools here that I even realized that flying was so huge. I came from a small northern town where things like this weren't even talked about. So being on your channel really helped me to know how far I could go with aviation.

I am turning 50, and I am switching career. After being a pediatrician for 24 years, I signed up for ATP and getting my Class I physical this month. My grandfather was a pilot in the first Chinese nasal Air Force, and both of my uncles were fighter jet pilots. I am pursuing my second dream and my destiny.

    • @CrossWindsPat
      @CrossWindsPat 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I'm sorry but I was doubting whether I should dedicate myself to ATP license but im only 34 and I already have a PPL. Getting you ratings won't be an issue but honestly even with a pilot shortage I really think its gonna be a tough one actually turning this into a career so late into the game my friend. Pilots get paid garbage for a while till they move up the majors and airlines. I honestly think your best bet is to make flying a hobby and don't spend the money on 141 school, instead buy a 152 for 40 grand instead and fly at your leisure while you work. A pilot wont make Pediatrician pay for at least a decade lol. Best part about doing it with your plane is you can sell the plane right back when your done and your gonna learn so much more about the mechanics and ownership of the plane. Also you can rack those 1500 hours up flying around with friends and family or doing whatever you want, instead of teaching.

from someone who has studied finance and has a bachelors and a masters in finance-- mutual fund performance does not persist meaning in long run it wont beat the market... there are many scientific paper on this... fees will kill you in the long run (front loaded fees, back loaded fees, and expense ratios).. final tip invest in a market index with a low expense ratio find lowest one since its just a passive strategy... ex VTWO, SPY, VTI

You do not pilot a 737 or any other commercial aircraft. You taxi, communicate with ATC and manage systems. These are important tasks. Soon software will replace you in these areas too. This is why people no longer die on commercial aircraft in the US and many other countries. I was part of the team at Honeywell that replaced the flight engineer in the late 80's and early 90's. Personally I prefer a human at the controls, however computers are safer.

Trying to decide between an accelerated program or Part 141 to get the lower required hours. I currently have a Bachelors of Aeronautics degree from ERAU. What’s your thoughts between going back to school for a second degree or paying the cost for a school like ATP. I’d like to get my ratings as quick as possible, but can use a GI Bill for a 141. If I’m trying to go to the airlines, is it better to get done faster or cheaper? Currently 36, so Age is getting up there.

How good is the 737 max?. Its so good that two of those planes crashed within months and killed hundreds of people and boeing had the nerve to blame it on the pilots when in reality it was the faulty mcas system. Anyhow w w

Is the age of 45 too late to begin a career towards flying for an airline? I'm 33 currently but am going to be retiring from the military(no flight experience) at age 40. Thank you

I’m recently a CJO holder for flight attendant, and wondering how do you handle having a dog and being a pilot? I have a dog currently and thinking of a plan 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

Love the video! Quick question, do the airlines allow tattoos on places that are not visible? (Like back)

Just curious how often do you have to wear your uniform in public for example when deadheading or on call and have you ever forgotten to pack regular clothes and had to spend the trip in your uniform
