Congrats Duncan! You've helped me with painting at a higher quality than I thought I'd ever achieve. And have given me the confidence to tackle intimidating models like Magnus and Mortarion.
My first Duncan video was how to paint a Necron Warrior years ago. It's only fitting that you would be painting The Silent King to celebrate this huge milestone. Thanks for teaching me how to paint. This is the best hobby I've ever been involved in.
Little more than a year ago, I was hesitant to get into the hobby, feeling intimidated by painting and afraid of ending up with something worthy of the infamous THIN YOUR PAINTS video. I ended up asking around the community for advice, including in the comment section of one of your videos. To my surprise, I got a reply from the man himself, and took it as a sign that I should give it a go. Now I'm about to put the finishing touches on my Indomitus box (decals and varnish are all that's left). It's been quite a journey, punctuated by stressing over glow effects, accidentally leaving a massive green fingerprint on a deathwing bladeguard, 1 new scar on my thumb and a paint shaking incident that painted my ear white, , but now I have a 2 small armies I'm very proud of. You have a very real talent for teaching other about your passion and making it seem so accessible. I remember having written out wet blending as an advanced technique that'll I might learn someday, until I saw your Sigvald tutorial were you taught us how to wet blend without us realizing it. Thank you for teaching us.
You deserved all the thousands subs and two thin coats in the planet man. Thanks to your videos now I got a SUCH GOOD hobby and it helped me sooooo much to handle the most rough times during this pandemic. Cheers!
Incredible work as always. Helped me get into painting a year ago when I stumbled upon your painting guides as a citadel employee. I was glad to find you now have your own channel and you are still doing incredible paint jobs on minis. Keep on inspiring
I just want to dogpile on the comments. Your videos have been immensly helpful in bringing my army to life. I'm a pretty mediocre (on a good day) painter, but listening to your tips has made my growing army look fantastic. I'm very happy with how things are going and each video helps make me a better painter. Thank you.
Congratulations Duncan, it brings tear to my eye. A job well done. Thats how standard issue professional imperial painting looks like. Now aim for a million!
Thank you so much duncan, your calm clear instructions have made me fall in love with this hobby, two thin coats has been the real key for me. Thank you again for helping me find a creative and calm hobby.
Thank you for this, Duncan! I followed your guide to build my Szarekh, which was a deeply intimidating model at the start. Now, it's undoubtedly the best looking model in my case and I can't wait to bring it to the battle mat.
Duncan, we are the one to thank you! Thanks for all the incredibly helpful tutorials you put out there you're the number one source I look to for Warhammer painting tutorials!
Oh hell yeah! Szarekh, the Silent King is one of my all time favorite characters from Warhammer 40K!! I love your videos, I find them very informative and soothing.
Congrats on 200k subs! I love those new Necron colors, they work really well for my Minotaurs army. Spray Rune Lord Brass. wash with Cryptek Armor Shade Reapply Rune Lord Brass to brighten things up again. Highlight with the Canoptek Alloy. Apply Red for the shoulder pads and black for the guns.
Thank yoy for all the technicks and colours. Teached from you. Advise about superglue was essential. Saved so much nervs. Thank you for your youtube activity. If not for you, many people wouldn't be happy.
I'm been collecting the paints Duncan used over the last few months. I got my Silent King in the mail and slowly took my time assembling and painting him. I followed his instructions to the best of my ability and it definitely paid off. My Silent King doesn't look as great as Duncan's but it's going to turn heads. Throughout the process, I found just one minor error,. Here on TH-cam beneath "show more" and "Paints Used" there is no mention of Corax White, which is required of somebody attempting to follow Duncan in the video. Not a big deal, just mentioning for anybody else. Thanks a lot Duncan, you've taken my painting to the next level, and I'm looking forward to seeing you next time.
Congratulations Duncan ! And thank you. For helping me with some painting process and making them accessible. But, also for helping me with night anxiety, I was using (and still do sometimes) your long painting guides as lullabies, can't count the times I fell asleep listening to your Magnus or Mortarion guide, or more recently, Sigvald ! P.S : Any plans for a Alpha Legion colour guide ?
Cant reccomend the painting academy enough, unlike all of the youtube videos out there Duncan shows you piece by piece exactly how to paint different effects for a whole range of armour types etc. Definitely worth a few quid a month
Congrats! To add to your superglue temp base tip: Freezing the model will make the superglue even more brittle in case you run into undue resistance when removing the base.
Congratulations Duncan. You put this up at a perfect time I'm about to start my silent King and some parts I wasn't sure on but now I am 😀 keep up the great work.
This is amazing! Congratz on the 200k!! You deserve them all as so much more! Can't wait to watch this Awesome video while i paint! Thanks and keep up the great work!
Congratulations.👍 You deserve it. Saying you have helped me is an understatement. You have been incredible for the release of the tutorials. Just hoping for some more middle earth tutorials 😁
Congratulations on 200.000 thin coats.
400k with two thin coats!
@@MatthewMcCabe damn you got there first
Have you learned nothing??
lol
Shouldn't it be 400.000? Cause you know, you apply them twice?
Congratulations my man!! :-) Love that green
I love your videos too!
@@chiefteefteefreturns3320 I see that you're really making the most of your Saturday night...
Thanks Brent, much appreciated 😊
I never painted a mini nor do I ever plan to but sitting down with some hot chocolate and watching Duncan paint is great fun.
I think that this isn't the first miniature he's painted. He's probably painted like 3 or 4 before this.
3 or 4 Szarekhs?
@@Snavels I think the comment is making fun of the reddit clout hounds that are very good and claim it is their first miniature.
@@carbon1255 I was thinking they were saying he painted 3 or 4 Szarekhs to practice for the video
@@Snavels honestly, that is possible.
Congrats Duncan! You've helped me with painting at a higher quality than I thought I'd ever achieve. And have given me the confidence to tackle intimidating models like Magnus and Mortarion.
Happy to help and thank you 😊
Same! I’m in the middle of Magnus right now. Mortarion was a blast!
You've taught me many things, both in painting and life. Thank you and congratulations 🔥

Same here!
The madman actually did it. He applied a perfectly smooth coat of Corax White with a brush.
Congrats Duncan! Remember thin your paints 🔫😁
Always!
With a lil bit ov wotah !
Don't cite painting magic to Duncan, he was there when it was written
@@scottlock8584 he wrote it himself
