Thanks, great video! I ride also with the tour or eMTB mode. I would add a mud flap for the lower pivot even though you have a good fender. I made the flap with old mouse mat :-) You have the same plans too, an eDropper and a better damper.
Do you have any comments on the performance of the SRAM DB8 brakes? You did mention that for now you weren't considering an upgrade on them. Reason I am asking is twofold. Original specs on the current Rail 7 Gen 2 call for Shimano 4 piston hydraulic disc brakes, with a M6100 lever and M6120 calipers Local Trek dealer has a 2023 Trek Rail 7 Gen 2 in my size spec'd with the SRAM DB8 brakes. They are offering one hell of a sweet deal on this bike at $3800.00. Thats even lower then the current advertised Trek website price of $4299,99, Original MSRP on it was $6649.99 Should I just take it as it is or ask them to put on the original Shimano spec'd Shimano brakes if available?
Man I tell you if you are a light rider you should be ok with just swapping out for better pads. For me they weren’t strong enough and felt too mushy, if that makes sense. Honestly for the price you getting the bike for just swap them for some code r brakes and door look back lol
I have the same bike, trek rail 7 gen 2. I’m weighing in at 215-220 and I’ve owned it for 6 months and put 2226km on it. Love the bike…maintenance is adding up fast.. blew 4 spokes in the factory rear rim..I’m upgrading to a carbon rear wheel next week. The domain front fork is ok, but I notice a difference between it and a zeb and or a fox 38. I just blew my stock rear shock last week..oil and air leaking from the rebound knob. Really interested in what you choose for a coil rear shock..just started to think about switching too something a bit more durable. It’s interesting how these bikes come with a wide variety of components as stock…my brakes are shimano slx, xt derailleur, Deore cassette which has been warranties and replaced already. I hope you post whatever upgrades or changes you make as you go along. I think I’m a bit jealous of that display.
@@ebikesandthings nope, not yet the shock was covered by warranty…after it came back rockshox said it was all good…so I decided to ride it till it breaks….I suspect next season will be its last. Replaced rear rim with carbon…really happy with it. My riding is ramping down here…snow at higher elevations , won’t be long before shoveling the driveway.
Just bought a 2022 out here in NZ/ suspect its new life will b a tougher experience than t previous owner lol. But so far very impressed w its ability to enable me to go way faster than usual DH…. guess I’ll find out about t weaknesses over time, but very happy currently. funny, t guy upgraded to a 9 and not noticing much of a difference aside from t rockshox DT3/ replacing t braking system! unimpressed +unhappy.
Nice vid! I’m on my second trek powerfly full suspension… Wanted to try the Yamaha motor so I got a giant trance XE plus one and it’s a cool bike but I’m thinking about the rail seven gen 3.. specked out nicely 👍
@@ebikesandthings yes as I think all the models apart from the small I’m a size large comes with the 750wt battery I’ve heard there’s a 250 range extender coming out in 2024 for all bikes with the Bosch CX motor which should be good 👍🏻

It seems like with all the upgrades it probably would have been more cost-effective to buy a higher-end model.

Oh man that’s why I want to upgrade all that you mentioned! I will be posting vids once more parts come in. Have you upgraded the suspension?

Hi, nice review man! Are you able to coinnect to the app with the Kiox update? thanks
Thanks! Yes you can connect to the app but have not tried the update yet.

About the only upgrade left to do is a Rail carbon frame.
Haha did that as well.
Hi what’s the rear mudguard called?? Looks ace I have a new trek rail coming soon thanks
Hi, Sicomtb makes them. Great fit.
@@ebikesandthings many thanks for the reply I’ve got my 2024 rail on order so can’t wait will have a look n purchase 👍🏻

@@scottbagley7513 oh niceeeeee! That’s a lot of battery.
What do you like about the Kiox upgrade?
I like how it shows more display features and can sync up with a heart monitor. And it has Bluetooth .
So in other words, the stock rail 7 is just bad if you need all this upgrades.
Nice, what phone is it? I like that feature.
It’s the Samsung S23 Ultra
