I agree with Mike. A good Filipina may ask for money. Asking, in and of itself, doesn’t make a Filipina a bad woman. Having said that, I understand your point. 100% of the bad ones ask for money so it is a red flag. But just because 100% of the bad ones ask for money that doesn’t logically mean 100% of those who ask for money are bad. That is the same logical error as the following ::: 100% of the time it rains there are some clouds in the sky, thus 100% of the time there are some clouds in the sky it rains. Nope. It can be cloudy without raining just like a woman may ask for money and not be a bad woman.

We have a saying in the Philippines which states: walang manloloko kung walang magpapaloko. In English, it means no one can scam you if you choose not to be scammed. Absolutely true in every day life.

The fact that this girl is going to college in Cebu, away from her family, means that the family can afford to pay the tuition fees, the boarding house, her food, etc. If they couldn't afford that, she wouldn't be there! So why should you start sending money, Scott? And if you know about yourself that you have bad hygiene, do something about it! Shower every day, brush your teeth, shave, use Cologne, get a haircut, dress well ... Man, these are things that you have in your own hands!

This is not a "scam". This is one of many Filipinas crying poor and eventually asking for money, and a lonely man in the west happy for any attention from a woman. Despite so many vloggers saying "don't send money to someone you have not met in person", guys just don't listen. These simps are ruining SE Asia.
One thing important that Mike always share (and he is pretty consistent with it) is that men should be financially stable to enter into any relationship. So he should take care of himself first and make sure that he is stable. Otherwise he has no business bringing someone into his life. A man who is not financially stable is setting himself in a lot of hurt and frustration if he cannot provide. That is the nature of a man. A man’s happiness is his ability to be a provider and a protector. Of course you have to be smart too and make sure that the woman is on the same page as you and not taking advantage.

On my journey preparing to live in SE Asia, I met dozens of men who said they want to go like me. All of them live in severe denial. Financially, physically, emotionally they could never leave the US because they don’t have a contract with reality. I do. I lost my loving sweetheart to cancer two years ago and stayed to care for my mom for 10 years - she passed recently. Two weeks after my mom passed I was in SE Asia. I was setting the table for my feast of life. You see I love myself and treat myself accordingly. I don’t abandon myself. I have very high self esteem because I do esteemable acts like take care of my loving partner by myself every day until she passed and the same for my mother. So now it’s my time. Healthy relationships are reciprocal. Even though someone may not be able to be reciprocal financially they can be reciprocal others ways. LDR aren’t healthy and feed unhealthy fantasy

I always say don't send more then $100 per month, more then that, you are changing there lives. The first 12 months of knowing my wife, she never asked for money. The first 12 months, i sent $300, 100 per time for special events.

WOW….Scott, your priorities are out of order. Go the store and buy you a bar of soap, a razor, deodorant and a brush. It doesn’t seem like the lack of money is the issue in that respect. Invest in yourself first. How you view yourself will change if you do this.

Good video Mike. You made a good point in your video about coming to the Philippines to meet the young lady. That is the best way to get to know a person to find out if they are sincere. She could be pretending to be his girlfriend because he's sending her money. She can also have a Filipino boyfriend according to her Facebook post that she's in a relationship. Beautiful Filipina women get a lot of attention from Filipinos. Some Filipina women have local boyfriends, and at the same time go online and seek foreigners for financial support.
Scott, being shy and or awkward especially around women is not at all uncommon. Nothing wrong with that I was that way until my mid 20's..
But being unkempt and having poor self esteem are things you can change! I strongly suggest you find a counselor who can help with those issues. There is nothing to be ashamed of by visiting with someone who can help work with you. You may be amazed at the difference it could make in your life.

And if you sometimes have fantasies about that girl, why not? Thoughts come and go... it's just having a good time to bridge the period you cannot go abroad yet and learn about persons and the country in advance. Be aware that things may come out different when you enter the country and meet in person.
I would tell him to save his money and wait until he comes if that is his intention, unless he can afford to throw money away. Chances are, she has a BF, and even if she doesn't, the chance of a relationship with her working isn't good. I made many of the same mistakes he has, and I have decided that online dating is a loser. They get your money and you get very little in return. Some friendship and love, but it's not real. It's better to just wait until you get to the Phils, IMO.

If I could just add a bit of advice- There are many of channels to help improve yourself as a man. Start working out, start working on your marketplace value as a man. Take a class in martial arts, join some kind of social group that forces you to socialize. After doing some of that, then think about coming to the Philippines.

Girl is about 24 lives in Cebu told me she was in America in 2019 but Visa is now expired and wanted to come back.
She asked for load on phone.
She promised if I help her come to America she will come to Ohio and be with me. She needed this that and the other thing of a long list. In the end she got me for 2500 bucks all dragging it out she would come here and she ghosted me after I stopped sending money and asked for receipts. Her name was Hanna wonder if it's the same girl?

Sounds to me like he needs a Saint and not a girlfriend. It's just a decision to have good hygiene and it's unlikely that she would look past it. I would ask him, what's the purpose of the fridge. Most likely the fridge was for her family or maybe a nearby sari-sari store that she owed money (utang). In a boarding house expenses are normally a set rate just like the rent. $20 for water in the Philippines is insane, you can't drink it. Mike you mentioned that she might be staying with other girls in the room. It's also possible that she is related (cousins) with them and she is just embellishing the cost so she can pay for them as well. $2000 dollars over a 2.5 month period is terrible. Even if this girl was genuine when they first met, he has ruined her and the entire family by sending the equivalent of nearly 2 years wages in 2 months. He will forever by an ATM now, and once the money dries up, so will her time. Chaulk it up to a charitable donation and work on yourself before visiting the Philippines.

This is a rental - just come to grips with it - then decide if it’s worth the money to have someone to talk to - also never never do the K1 thing until you have lived with her for atleast 6 months - I was with my girl 2 years before we did the K1 approach

I don't think its a scam. Scott needs to fix his personal issues. He knows what they are and has to do some work on himself and fix those issues. By fixing the things he stated he will start to feel better about himself and self confidence will come back. If he doesn't he will stay lazy and unhealthy. Why on Gods green Earth would you send that amount of money to anyone you don't know an most especially to a young woman you have never met in person, He should never come to the Philippines because he will become a more broken man than he already appears to be. He needs to definitely get his act together, stop sending money period. He will be used badly and the relationship is transactional so no it will not work.
She’s 24, and now she has money. And he is all the way across the world. No offense, but by sending money, he is making her more marketable, again nothing is wrong with that, but he is all the way across the world. It’s nice for a woman to depend on a man if the man is present. But he is not. Young beautiful woman , 24, given some sort of a financial independence without the man around is a recipe for disaster. She is just way too young, and without some sort of a guidance it could be bad. He should fly to the Philippines and meet the girl. This way they can really measure each other. Right now, she has no idea how it is like to be with him. That’s a big question mark.

I agree with you. He needs to get off is butt and work on himself and invest in himself before even chatting with a Filipina. Find out where the nearest barbershop is. Get your hair colored if needed. Shave. Clean your house, etc. Additionally, try fixing any medical or dental issues you may have before thinking of coming to the Philippines to retire.
The answer of whether or not it is a scam depends on your definition of scam. For me, a scam has to involve dishonesty. If she was honest about all the things she spent money on AND was honest about relationship intentions, then it isn’t a scam. However, I think it is likely that she has been at least a little dishonest. If she has no intention of being with him but allows him to think she does, that is scamming. If she never bought a refrigerator for the dorm, that is a scam. If her phone was good enough and she claimed she couldn’t do this or that and she really could (or didn’t want to do it even if she could) then that is a scam. I think the temptation to get money is very powerful and it would be hard to not mislead some, even if not whole-hog. If I had to place a bet, I would bet low-level scamming has occurred though not all the money was given under a scam.

Poor hygiene is a choice sir. You have way too many issues to be worrying about anyone other than improving your own life and circumstances. Some people just want to live in a fantasy world of their own making, and have no intention of actually meeting in real life. And if you are 54 and just now considering saving for your retirement I hate to say but it's way too late pal!

yes it is. Many reasons not to be in college right after high school. money. family problems. Maybe a sister had to finish first
2 months and 2 grad….cheaper than miss Chleo….way too soon to be sending money. He’s a willing participant. Use this to get his confidence up…friendly voice…but don’t get so attached you can’t move on if you decide to say no more money.
Wow, this guy Scott has some SERIOUS SERIOUS problems!!! Why in the world even THINK of foisting those problems on ANYONE? FIX YOUR PROBLEMS, then you will have some more value than just being an ATM. My sense is that Scott already knows this, but is too selfish and self centered to break out of it.

There is no way any guy should send anyone money, especially if he has never met her in person. I am not bashing this guy, it sounds like he has issues. I'm attempting to be kind, for the record. I do feel for him, I don't see this ending well for him.

Mike, I believe that until you are ready to move to the Philippines, you should not start a long-distance relationship. I personally will not start one until after I move to the Philippines and have found where I want to live.

Scott, first make your bed! Think about it, how could you make any women a good husband the way you are now? How do you expect to project your control of the world if you can't control yourself? If you lack self-confidence the first way to gain confidence is to control yourself, you will feel better about yourself it will give you even more confidence to take more control. I would highly recommend getting the book: 12 Rules for Life.... by DR. Jordan Peterson. DR. Peterson has countless videos here on TH-cam, you will not go wrong listening and acting on his advice.

I think that he is scamming himself by not doing the minimum to make himself a better man. He doesn’t care enough about himself to maintain basic essentials like hygiene and his future retirement… 🤷🏻♂️

I feel for this guy, I think at one point we've all been in a similar spot but it was some tough love from a man that I deeply respect that caused me to turn things around.
Step back and sort things out, I'm rooting for you man.
My opinion is that she is using him and he wants to use her. This is understandable, but, not really a solid basis for a relationship. He doesn’t seem to have enough money to keep feeding her. When the money runs out, what will happen to the relationship? If he still feels strongly about her, he needs to go visit her. But, be ready for a possible ghosting. If she does meet with him, he better have some money. If he runs out, hopefully he can get back home. If she sticks with him after the money runs out, maybe it’s a good sign that she may really be in love.
Sending money too early and having sex too early can cloud good judgement.
