    Hey Ronny, I just watched " my overland tool kit" video from two months ago, and I really enjoyed it. so cool to see what
    you have learned you need and then how the point of view of mechanic that know overlanding can add to your already excellent kit was the best information you could have provided to all us fans. thank you!!

    Hi love the video and quality of the camera, you inspired me to get back into road trips and camping, I'm from Great Britain, so it's not quite the same but still, pack a BBQ, and tent in the back of my defender and off we go! Keep up the good work 👍

    • @EJL110
      @EJL110 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yuck Foutube Really there are only places that you pay to stay at, some are just in a farmers field for a few £'s a night, others are full on camping and caravan holiday parks with all the amenities you'll ever need. But due to planing restrictions you have to stay on a registered camp site or have permission from the local authorities....... other wise you are just a pikey! (British for Gypsy/traveller)!!!

    We went to the wind farm last January while holidaying in Albany , did'nt know of the great track to the beach otherwise would have gone down it . Never mind , a few days later got bogged on a track near Mandalay Beach out of Walpole so might have got in trouble there too , lucky two passersby in 4WDs were able to get me out . Great camera work , drone too , can't wait for parts 3 & 4 :-)

    Just got back from a week in Southern Utah, near Moab, but not the typical Jeep trail crap. We tend to find different areas. Went on one trail that full sized US trucks have no business to be on. I lost a tire, so did another guy, and the K5 Blazer broke a front stub shaft. Limped back into Moab and got the tires and shaft fixed in the campground. The Power Wagon did well, though it certainly is not as easy to navigate as my 80 is. A couple of sandstone shelfs, I had to gingerly set her down on the skids. Nice to have power though, one thing the 80 really suffers on. Another great vid! Peace out!

    There is a bigger campsite at Torbay Inlet BUT it is very popular and hard to get a spot, especially on weekends. It is located further up the inlet. There are a few good campsites in the Albany area but as most are accessible by 2wd they get pretty busy. Will have to send you a copy of our campsite guide, not a huge number of 4x4 sites as we try to list mostly for 2wd but you might find something useful.

    70m wing span = 229.7 ft * 3.14 = 721.25' circumference. It roughly looked like it took about 4 seconds to complete one full revolution of the blades. That equates to 180.31 ft\sec which means the tip of those blades are traveling about 122.9 MPH.

    Hi there,
    I just got my first ever Nissan Patrol - a 2002 GR 3.0 TDi - and I'm looking forward to building it up to an overland beast. I am based in the UK, and pretty much everything you can get in Australia we can get here. (I am on a low budget with limited mechanical skills!) so I have been looking around for the lowest cost options on everything from winch mounts to suspension setups and I have a few questions..
    1. Apart from the height, what are the main differences between a 2" and 4" lift?
    2. Can I use the stock wheels that came with the truck - 16" alloys - with better tyres, or do I really need to get some steelies?
    3. Are there any low cost sand ladders that you would recommend?
    4. Just wondering if you would do a budget build video, or can recommend some to watch.
    As usual, awesome video! Keep em coming :)
    Brian :)

    I am currently doing up an extracab Hilux and setting up the tray. I notice both you and Wayne have fridges straight on the tray, How do they handle the weather? I will have a 32L Engel as a freezer, and an ARB like yours as a fridge. Solar and deep cycle bat in a tool box(vented) like Waynes boxes, Running a redarc BMS30.
    Also I have the new HX-1 Hema. Can you show a few shots or talk about how you use it, I'm coming from a Magellan with the topo maps.

    G'day Ronny, Another really great video Mate. Can you or someone else tell me if you catch any flak or trouble with the off road roof mount driving lights please ? I notice Torben has his uncovered & very visible, has he had any hassles from police etc that you know of ?
    It's just I want to mount 6 spotties on the roof rack of my Hino 4X4 & didn't want to raise any concern if you catch my drift, also is it better to have covers or it doesn't really matter, thank's in advance, Steve.

    Which engine is better for overlanding and 4 wheeling - Diesel or Petrol?
    Over here in Dubai most of the 4x4s are Petrol because it is cheap, but I think that Diesel is better for torque and range. Any ideas?

    • @AZTLANSOLDIER13
      @AZTLANSOLDIER13 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Four wheeling is less about what kind of gas or motor than diff. height, wheel base, approach and departure angles and tires. I drive a 90s Silverado 7.4 liter and it would destroy anywhere these Toyotas go in these videos. But I do live the Land Cruisers, so cool.

    @ciumoiucucaca 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    500 rpm ? to me seems strange. I drove several diesel models (true, they were street vehicles ) and they were like 900 rpm at idle. is it the hill climb that forces the engine to go down to that low rpm ?

    • @Ronny_Dahl
      @Ronny_Dahl  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Uchuujin tamanegi normal idle for the VDJs are around 500-600rpm the hill forced it to stay at 500. Put the aircon on and it'll force it to 800rpm.
      I even used my high idle tune which makes it 1000rpm but the hill forced it down to 500rpm.

    Not a fan of these last few videos Ronny. The action has gone and its just like a Pat callinan show without the adverts. Its not always about the end destination but more about the obstacles and showing more of the trucks. Don't get me wrong the filmography has progressed a long way from your early stuff and we appreciate it but we would like to see some tougher trips.
    Cheers
