Tracked Can Am Recovery: Snow Cat Mountain Rescue Off Road Recovery (Noddy)

- We are On the Road Again to recover a broken down Can Am four wheeler with tracks and a Snowmobile. They were located on Brian Head Mountain in Southern Utah. At over 10,000 feet elevation we had a lot of snow to deal with. We loaded the Noddy and we will take you along for the ride. I am a total rookie at video editing, so I hope you enjoy it.
Thanks for watching. Casey

This video popped up. I realize that it’s old but I still enjoy seeing you and Matt working together. I truly thought you guys had great chemistry. I realize that I have no idea what happened behind closed doors, but hope you guys are still friendly. Wishing you the best.
Yeah, it would be so nice if they were still collaborating! I read in some comment that it was due to a disagreement regarding pay between matt and casey, not sure if that's the case tho. I also miss Randy, i wonder what happend there
@@OMGWTFBBQSHEEP Randy sometimes shows up on Casey's videos but does have his own channel " all terrain Randy "
There was a comment made by Matt in a response on Facebook. Matt said he was served a court order to cease and desist with any video that depicted Casey. Now obviously something happened before hand to cause such an action, but I have no idea nor do I want to guess what it was. Though the speed difference of how both channels have grown is huge. Matt is a million plus now.
Awesome video. Love love love the bluegrass music, my favorite. Well done you all. God bless.
Reminds me of the kids story of the turtle and the hare, only the bombi and the noddy. Great showing the "outtakes" at the end. Thanks for all the work doing the video, it gets easier editing but the easiest way is to have your kid do it.
The Noddy is fast downhill lol
Sure enjoy you guys taking us along for the ride!
Great editing and fun to see some of the more candid clips; Matt apparently pulling up on the wrong side of the pump; deciding to fasten his seat belt etc. Loved the music and the story.
Thanks for watching. We try to have a good time
Heck yeah Casey! Glad you started recording too!
Hey Casey & Matt with ALL the Crews !! Great recoveries !! Think I would have liked to have a wind break on the ""NODWELL" rear seat as looked kinda ""COLD"" !! HAHA Have a good 2022 year for sure !!
Now that was fun to watch, give us some more of these types of rescues.
"So, I got a call from Matt, he's stuck....." 🤣👍
Subbed and liked. Your 110 is the only one I've seen without a cab. I worked with Nodwells in the high arctic long ago and they all had awesome gas heaters for those -40 workdays, something not seen today due to CO risk.
Interesting that both tracked vehicles are Canadian. 2 Canadian tracked vehicles to collect yet another Canadian tracked vehicle. Not surprising when you understand around 95% of Canada is wilderness with no road access and 20% of all terrain above the 60th parallel is muskeg.
I hope they don't let you down. 100,000 oil workers in Alaska and northern Canada love that 110! Even Russians are big fans of Nodwell and Foremost. Best wishes for your future tracked endeavors!
Thank You. They are great machines. I have seen a few around without cabs. This one may get a cab sometime down the road.
@@CaseysOffRoadRecovery I think that would be a real good idea. And maybe some insulated gloves or mittens too!!
@@danstinson7507 it has a big heater and the engine about cooks you. Working hard in that snow.
That four-wheeler and snowmobile was not stuck you just went up there to play with your new toys and make a cool video. I appreciate that it looks like you guys had a lot of fun
Busted!
That was a pretty cool rescue. Awesome to see those snow cats getting some work!
Casey should have more subs.. well ya got my like, between the music n scenery, and the fact I'm no longer able to go out and explore, I must say the videos take me back. Thank you
And a good time was had by all. Great scenery and recovery. I’m with you on good, black Licorice! It’s tasty!
I see a log loading crane mounted just aft of the cab on the Nodwell. Reach out and pick up those broken side by sides and set them on the deck.
Black Licorice - "Candy of the Gods"
Yaaaaassss! Great footage! You'll get the editing down, no worries. 👍
Really like those tracked vehicles. Good job just finding the recovery site!
They are good tools. Lol Luckily It was an area we knew well.
One god sir! Beautiful land you live in and work thank you for these videos.
That looks like a COLD ride in the Noddy!
Good music. That Nodwell is a weird old beast, looks like a cross between a tank, old furniture truck and a Mississippi swamp boat. Singing is expected please Casey and thank Matt for the link.
Thanks. It sure is a weird looking rig. Thanks for watching.
You should weld up some ramps that double as sides with the stake pockets.
Great Idea!
Very nice up on the mountain.
Wow Casey, if you towed that beast up the 143 out of Parowan in the winter you're the man. That one set of switchbacks is a beast, can't imagine maintaining traction on snow or ice with any sort of a load. Looked like fun playing on the snow though.
Wow we just flew past a 1000 subscribers! Thanks for watching!
Casey Lofthouse
More singing.
Less TH-cam music.
17k more in 6 months, that is darn good!
@@assholesplace I wish I had a better video quality on this one, but hopefully we have the technique down..few glitches on this one
@@CaseysOffRoadRecovery Didnt make the content any less great! You all have come SO FAR in so little time. Keep up the great work.
Congratulations s
Good Grief. 141k views. I wish I had done a better job at editing this video! Thanks for all the support! I see a reboot in the future!
Very well done and very interesting. Thank you for the great show.
Back in the early days of you two working together. Great team then just as you are now!! I enjoyed the "ride". Just wish you'd have filmed the side by side predicament of getting it the rest of the way off of the trailer!! LOL!!!
About time you made a channel! Subscribed. Look forward to more videos with you and Matt!
That sure looks like a lot of fun! ❤ Greetings from VA
It was a riot.
So glad you are posting video's now Casey. Just subscribed. Was wondering when you would start . Keep it up. Already over 500 subscribers.
And one year later , over 48,000 subs ! 😲
Since I almost pulled a snowmobile once, I looked up how to pull them without tearing them apart. With the equipment I have, the easiest way is a tree strap and two soft shackles from where the skis attach to the suspension. I also have a chain bridle but the tree strap is alot lighter and does the same thing. Cheers.
Most people are more tech savvy than me
@@CaseysOffRoadRecovery I had to look it up and there are more, I would guess, snowmobiles here than there.
That's got to be a Very Cold Ride in that Open cab. How Casey's got double long johns on.
Hilarious everything's melted by the time yous get back, awesome!
Great video...too damn cold for these old bones
Good luck with your new channel Casey.
The Casey and Matt show.
Nice Job and the new channel and video Casey, looking forward to all your videos to come!
That looked like a blast!
It was a good time.
great job, great place
Beauty place and beauty machines.
Man thats an awsome truck, i wish a had one 👍
Thanks Casey. I liked, subscribed and hit the bell.
Thanks!
Good to see some videos from your side of the camera too!
Thanks Edwin
I love you guys' commeradery
Great video thank you!
Oops!!!!! Hope y’all got it unloaded!! Enjoyed
I think they got a forklift to finish the effort...?
Look at you now over 18k love it!
Matt had more to say on your video than he did on his own. Well done guys.
It happens. lol
Did not know you started your channel..Auright! Subscribed and looking forward to more adventures. Take care n stay safe.
Thanks
Nice video, so rock chips in the windshield is just something you get out west? Nice expedition, glad you all made it safe and sound. Did they leave the hydraulics in the bombi when they redid it with the chevy engine? I am glad you guys are doing this for people.
We get plenty of rock chips. It has a driveline mounted diff fluid pump filter and cooler. Mechanical turning brakes as well as a mechanical on driveline.
@@CaseysOffRoadRecovery Thanks and I hope you do well with your channel. I expected to hear you singing along though man, you have some good pipes.
Black Licorice may be the candy of the Gods, But DIET COKE is the Nectar of the Gods!
Nice Fiddling !
Now I remember why I live in Florida
Great video
Just google mapped where yous are, awesome!
That Big Boy Buggy needs. 6 pak heated cab brutally cold 🥶
Surprisingly the engine heat will cook ya out.
Your own video: wow. Now it’s waiting for your own singing and music in the video
great video
Good video, good job.
Great Video Guys!
Glad you enjoyed it
I bet that was really chilly up on that bald area with the wind blowing!
Thanks for sharing your adventure. That was some beatiful country but obvious very brutal. Nice rides! The bombi was really nice to see in action as well as the other one. What was wrong with the tracted atv? That looked really cool!
I could only think how cold you had to have been Casey! You got no protection on your rig! Wind was blowing too! I'd love to hitch a ride with my skis in tow to the peak of Brian Head!
It actually wasn't bad. I had my snowmobile gear on and that motor puts out some heat. Plus that big Mohave Heater on the hood. What a riot. It will get to the peak...lol
@@CaseysOffRoadRecovery The Nodwell needs some wind breaks, why should Matt be comfortable ;)
@@rickinoakville1549 it wasn't that bad.
That was too much fun.
Great video Casey. Can I suggest a microphone of some kind in the near future? I hope you will keep up the cheriokie tradition and throw out some random runes from time to time. Much success and I look forward to watching more videos.
Thanks, We had a few issues as this was the first video I have ever edited, I hope to get better. Thanks for watching.
I am sure you will get better at it. It was a great first edit. Keep up the good work.
amazing stuff
Thanks
Brilliant, lots of fun and earning at the same time, yay 🤣👍🏻🇷🇴🇬🇧
It sure is!
tracked vehicles for the win, don't see them much where i live
Awesome 👌
I would take the track machine with the heated cab!
Not that it really matters but I was thinking after I saw how the unit sat on your trailer after you parked, if you would have gained enough traction or not to climb that last slippery section by temporarily moving the Nodwell as far forward as you could on the trailer, probably overloading the pickup in the process though.
It was slowly creeping I didn't want to get sideways...so I stopped and just had Matt hook me up.
I knew I would like this video once I read “rookie editor “
Great recovery guys. How old is the Nodwell? She's quite a workhorse.
Thanks 1966
Forget the tracked quad and snowmobile, Matt probably wanted the Nodwell present in case HIS cat broke on its first run!
I wanted the Bombi present! It was a good time.
@@CaseysOffRoadRecovery After helping to get is 'shipshape' you have a vested interest in seeing its maiden voyage. FYI..Here a brief video on a 1976 'Bombi' 100. The driver is CENTERED while driving (using levers) instead of seated to the left.
th-cam.com/video/2XQ_icznYsI/w-d-xo.html
That was one expensive recovery
Dont forget the cost for Casey to replace his windshield from the chip introduced at 3:29
Got themselves in a little predicament. Didn't they.
Nice snow cat and bombardier
love see the TOY out or say recovery tools
It's a great tool...lol
Amazing
i was thinkin you should have some hooks on the ramps to keep them from shifting-? run a 3/4 in. bar acrost back of machine with supports hook in ramps - done -!! i have a 1973 bombi sw-48 nothing like your machine -but fun - good show-!!
Looks like that Star Wars frozen planet!
My first year working on the North Slope 40 years ago I worked seismic work and we used Nodwells and TerraFlez tracked rigs. There had tracks are like the ones on yours. Those suckers would go anywhere. I also remember changing a track myself doing summer maintenance. Did you go home and build a heated cab for the Nodwell? Maybe an electric heated suit 🙂 to bad I can’t call you when I break down or get stuck..
That is awesome. We didnt do anything on the cab. It is a no worse than snowmobiling.
@@CaseysOffRoadRecovery probably true as a Nodwell is pretty slow. I worked in Prudhoe Bay on and off for about 35 years and I used to ride is some pretty cool rigs for the first few hours then it wasn’t so cool. I’ve been in those big rig with the real wide smooth tires driven by rollers, they do about 12 MPH. I’d ride in these going to remote drill sites with our communications module, generator, satellite dish and tower materials. We’d set up communications for the remote drill sites they built on ice pads.
You guys should invest in a Hagglunds BV206, they'd be just as much use in the sand in summer as the snow in winter!
I have always wanted one.
@@CaseysOffRoadRecovery they're amazing and totally unstoppable! I used them when I went to the Falkland Islands with the British Army. There are British army surplus sellers in the USA that can get you them, plus you can get them with twist lock tails on them so you can fit a cab, a flatbed, crane or whatever.
US Army used them as well as the M937 and M1067 Small Unit Support Vehicle. Plenty have been surplussed in the US. They’re not cheap, but they’re lots of fun.
Please show us your build on your XJ!
I sure will, it's coming in the next few weeks I hope.
Best build a cab/heater for the "fresh-air" rig, lol!
Love me some black licorice!
You certainly must enjoy the "Brisk" air........................................
Just curious. What was broke on the Can Am? Been thinking about getting tracks for my quad, and it would be nice to know the pitfalls.
Lack of use and ethanol fuel. Keep Non Ethanol fuel and use them often.
Looks like Bombi has the speed, but Noddy has the strength
The nody goes good down hill cant wait for the Cummins conversion
@@CaseysOffRoadRecovery What's the weight of the Noddy? Not much to it up top, but looks to be lots of steel underneath.
@@Zyzzyx42 it weighs about 11000 pounds and has a pay load of about 11k
@@CaseysOffRoadRecovery A Cummins conversion? Adding that much torque and power may quickly reveal weak links in the powertrain, hydraulics and both cooling systems.
On the other hand, you can have too much fun.
the Nodwell is from Alberta Canada (where im from) and is designed for our northern swamps and peatmoss (muskeg) and snow in the winter, they are all over the place up here hauling powerline drilling and setup rigs to hauling oilfeild equipment, they are a hauling beast
the bombardier is from Quebec and is more of a winter people mover/ small equipment mover--- they will have a 4cyl from factory ---matts chevy 4.3 v6 is not a stock unit---- in fact if you google image the bombardier 100 youll see something that does not look anything like matts besides the tracks and skid frame ----- matts cab and bodyworks are 100% custom
Nice recovery, how did the snow cat and snowmobile both break down?
One lost a belt, then wouldn't start. Then the other wouldn't start after working on the first one.
Hello love the vids keep it up
Glad you like them!
I wanted to see how you got that Can Am on the ground. It might be time to make a way to attach those ramp to the back of the snow cat.
I just grabbed the forklift. It's always a work in progress.
@@CaseysOffRoadRecovery everything is the next time it may have on track missing.
Winches are also very handy.
Hey Casey love that you are doing a youtube channel also. Been watching Matts! love it. Question how are you related to Ethan Lofthouse? We had Ethan here putting on a wrestling camp a couple of years ago. Great kid! Good luck with the channel.
Thanks Ethan is my cousin! His Great Great Grandpa and my Grandpa were brothers.
Like the video. But how come one cat has no doors or protection from the elements??
I kinda like the open cab. It was that way when I bought it and just have not changed it up. It actually cooks ya out of the "cab", that old straight 6 engine is working and putting off some major heat.
That’s awesome content. Just one complaint about the GMC...looks like it should be a duelly.
Long wheel base dually 4 door with a BIG fuel tank.
HOW many adverts?
I don't know youtube keeps them rolling
@@CaseysOffRoadRecovery yeah I had to manually remove them after TH-cam put them on all my videos a month back.
@@c90adventures I just modified it
COOL 👍👍
Wonder how many times on this job you said to yourself time for a enclosed cab on the nodwell
It will actually cook ya right out of the seat. That engine is one big heater
@@CaseysOffRoadRecovery never thought about that just like a coe truck never need a heater and got a place to heat your lunch lol
I have watched every video on your channel !! but older videos keep popping up that I haven't seen?? I cant figure out why lol. Any who keep up the good work dude!!
I have no idea. When you get to my channel click on Videos, then select by uploaded date. This was one of my first and now I wish I had done a better job on it. Thanks for watching
Casey's Off Road Recovery you did just fine!! You definitely look like you were freezing your but off though!! Lol I saw the elevation sign and was like wow..I’m in southern Maine at 559’ above sea level!! Hahaha take care! You guys are all awesome 👏
@@cruzer1373 ya I think we were at 10, 200 or something. Thanks
Is there a trick with the jacket over the cable?
Suppose to keep it from wiping you out if it breaks. Not saying it works, but it will slow it down.
5:00, heater better be on high on that one, ha!
