Really enjoyed that.. i always wondered about that guitar After seeing it on the 1996 MTV acoustic unplugged gig. Never did i know it was just to record them classics.
Noel played 2 of these at Knebworth. That was 10/11 August. He then played one of them on MTV Unplugged on 23 August by which time it had acquired the soundhole pickup.
Hi James, thanks for all the great videos!Noel had 2 of those Takamine FP460SC. You can see him switching them in the 2nd night of Knebworth after Wonderwall. Hope Nick got the famous one from Knebworth and Unplugged show :) Cheers from Berlin
I just wanted to say to James that I'm 56 and was in my late 20s when Oasis broke in the U.S. I bought the Morning Glory CD and loved it and I think bought the follow-up but then sort of went off Oasis. During the pandemic I really got much deeper into the Beatles and their discography than I ever had before and then I moved on to Oasis, who was much more huge in the UK than they ever were in the U.S. I'm stunned at the amount of quality songs that were put out in such a short time from '93 to '96 or so. For many like me in the U.S., we simply didn't know how huge Oasis was as a band. James' videos are the best out there that I've found on TH-cam for Oasis fans and I've learned so much. Thanks so much for the content!
Some of us were hip to Oasis, & stayed w/em. And the Don't Believe the Truth album, AND TOUR, were really a huge comeback for Oasis, Stateside! That was the tour that saw them finally sell out Madison Square Garden in NYC, The Hollywood Bowl in LA, The GMU Patriot Center in Washington D.C./Fairfax, Credit Union 1 Arena in Chicago, & several other huge gigs. Oh! Red Rocks Amphitheater, outside of Denver, etched right into the Rocky Mountains!
This is every oasis fan's dream to do this absolutely fair play to you. I can't believe you got to play Noel's guitar that's just simply biblical let alone record there. I'd just be happy having played on it. Amazing video and I can't wait to hear your version.
Fantastic video as always. I was smiling the whole way through the video as it was clear to see how much it meant to all of you. Can't wait to hear the finished product.
I love how you completely go to town on every video you do! I would implore every Oasis/Britpop fan to check out this channel. Every video puts a smile on my face! I never knew Noel used the Takamine on these recordings. I’ve had a g-series for the last 10 years and it’s the most beautiful guitar to play as far as action, and as you said, the sheer depth of tone. Looking forward to hearing the track! Keep up the amazing work, James.🙏👏👏👏
What a fantastic story james! This is absolutely incredible! So jealous. Looking forward to hearing your don’t look back in anger which is one of my all time favourites. I still remember the first time I heard it.
Legend---wait for it Bravo James. You are a legend and have put together the most amazing videos. Thank you a million mate! From the states. Mn. Keep er going cause your gonna live forever!!!! True art never dies. Bravo--dairy!!!!!!
I used to take my old E-16 reel to reel up Rockfield back in the early 00’s for the legendary Otto (who is now sadly past away) to fix and relap the heads on it, the closest I got to recording there was just standing in the coach house and the echo chambers when Otto showed me around. Fair play James you nailed that song and I’m really happy for you man, what an experience. I remember Nick being around the studio when I used to go up and always was a dream of mine to record there, but it never ever came true. So glad it has for you well done to you man. I find your videos a lot of fun and you’re very engaging in front of the camera. 👍🏻🤟🏻
That's amazing!!!! You're getting so close to meeting the brothers themselves!!! A true Oasis historian; I'm so happy for you, and I can't wait for your next vid!!!
Enjoyed watching this video! That instrument is a true piece of history! Incredible that it still has the same strings on it. I believe the other acoustic guitar he used on the sessions was the Epiphone Frontier ( always thought that the Wonderwall sound was that guitar). A guitar that after 2000 disappeared from public appearances.
Amazing! Looks like you are all doing a great job. I’m heading to Rockfield to record with Nick in October. 2 original songs but with a bit of an Oasis vibe. Great job James. Craig
So Noel's over in LA visiting the Don't Look back in Anger video set whilst you are at Rockfield re-creating the same song with the original sound engineer. I think you and NG are in cahoots 😆😃
This is SO epic!!! What a lucky and memorable thing to attend to. If it would be possible for you to do a deeper dive in to the recording techniques of the sessions it would be absolutely bangin!
Just proves you dont need super expensive instruments to succeed in music. Those guitars were at that time considered to be "Budget" models but with a nod to the 60s(Epiphone). Thanks for making me feel 21 again.
ITS SOUND ENGINEERS LIKE THIS THAT KEEP ROCK HISTORY ALIVE AND WELL!! HE EVEN KEEPS THE ACOUSTIC GUITAR IN A TEMPRETURE CONTROLLED CASE, THATS MORE LUXURY THEN MOST THE WORLD LIVES IN.
Fantastic video, loved it. Hate to say that Takemine made and supplied a few of those guitars, so not all the clips you show are the same one (not that really matters at all - it’s the Rockfield link you want). Keep it up James!
You are living the Oasis nerds dream! If you ever need other nerds to accompany you to historical Oasis places then please don’t hesitate to give us a shout!!
I reckon Noel had two of these acoustics. If you watch Knebworth he seems to play Whatever, Cast No Shadow and Wonderwall before swapping guitars for the Masterplan. They look identical but neither seems to have the soundhole pickup.
Correction, he plays Whatever and Cast No Shadow and swaps for the second guitar with the capo for Wonderwall. If you watch the second night you clearly see him swapping back for the Masterplan. This explains how he gave one to Nick and still used one for solo live appearances.
I really enjoyed this such an interesting video it must of been a fantastic experience, but I'm just wondering if you publish the song on here won't you run the risk of getting a copyright strike as the TH-cam bots etc will probably think it's the original song.
Great video! 🙌🏼🙌🏼What about the Epiphone sj200 than the one in the cover of Definitely Maybe there are fotos of Noel And Alan where you can see that Guitar an in the supernova documental Noel uses the Epiphone frontier. I think he use those for Whats the story, and the Takamine Later after Whats the story had come out. So he use the takamine for Morning Glory??? Not the epis thanks an again Great video 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Great video. Love the channel. But...undoubtedly, the most important guitar of the 1990’s was whatever Kurt Cobain used on Smells Like Teen Spirit. (I believe it was a modified Japanese made Fender Stratocaster.)
That guitar could sell at auction for over a million dollars once Nick is ready to sell it. Maybe Noel will buy it back from him once he sells the catalogue he gets back from Sony.
Loving the authentic Riviera, though you didn't look too excited by it? You should borrow it and do a video, seeing as both Noel and Bonehead used them so much. Fun fact though, apparently Noel recorded DLBIA on an ex Johnny Marr 1962 Stratocaster!
Does anyone know what strings noel uses on his acoustics, not the strings that are used on the gibson/epiphones, but the ones he used/uses on takamines? love the video as always, keep up the good work :)
Great video, thank you for sharing! At the 20 minute point, to record John's lead guitar did Nick Brine use those two microphones he was holding? Do you have any pictures or video of that?
The strings can’t possibly be the originals if he uses it numerous times after the recording guitar techs change strings every session but still cool as fuck man
Nice video, it really transmit the joy and excitement you had there in that special place. By the way, I have heard, maybe in your channel?, that the guitar solo in DLBIA was recorded on a stratocaster, is this right?
Hi all. The make of the guitar is in the video at 01:46, it's a Takamine FP460SC with a retro-fitted Mimesis pickup.
Cheers, JH
Really enjoyed that.. i always wondered about that guitar
After seeing it on the 1996 MTV acoustic unplugged gig.
Never did i know it was just to record them classics.
Hi James, just wondering do you happen to know what the model of the Yamaha grand piano in the studio is? Thanks!
Daniel Jimmy Williams iam with you

Awsome. Oasis and the beatles for ever.

No it isn't, I'm a fan and can make do with a CD.
Fantastic video as always. I was smiling the whole way through the video as it was clear to see how much it meant to all of you. Can't wait to hear the finished product.
Final challenge : meeting Noel G !
Feels like a matter of time
I love how you completely go to town on every video you do! I would implore every Oasis/Britpop fan to check out this channel. Every video puts a smile on my face! Keep up the amazing work, James.🙏👏👏👏
As Will's Dad :) thanks James for inviting him and giving him an amazing experience. Can't wait for the music video!
Cheers to parents giving emotional support to their musician sons. Well done dad.
What a fantastic story james! This is absolutely incredible! So jealous. Looking forward to hearing your don’t look back in anger which is one of my all time favourites. I still remember the first time I heard it.
I love how Nick played Breathe by Floyd on it. Your content keeps on getting more amazing by the upload.
those strings are older than me 😂😂, loving this man, i hope i get to be in the same place as you for my own stuff 🤩
Legend---wait for it
Bravo James. You are a legend and have put together the most amazing videos. Thank you a million mate! From the states. Mn. Keep er going cause your gonna live forever!!!! True art never dies. Bravo--dairy!!!!!!
18:04 🤯 blur on noel‘s guitar
thanks again for having us down mate!❤️🏴
James, what an amazing trip. Congratulations and can't wait to hear the finished result. So jealous of you 🤣🤣

james your channel is a gift from god. keep up the great work!
mad fer it in germany
I can’t say this enough but your channel is amazing James. Honestly would love to meet you one day
That's amazing!!!! You're getting so close to meeting the brothers themselves!!! A true Oasis historian; I'm so happy for you, and I can't wait for your next vid!!!

Superb James thanks for sharing 👍🤘
Noel is my next door neighbor, the next time I see him I'm going to tell him about your channel
Amazing! Looks like you are all doing a great job.
I’m heading to Rockfield to record with Nick in October. 2 original songs but with a bit of an Oasis vibe.
Great job James.
Craig
Who says dreams can’t come true, brilliant everyone involved can’t wait to hear the finished track, thanks James
I have a feeling I’m one of your few American viewers. Just want to say this is epic- hope to make it across the pond to visit this place one day.
Amazing video James!! I feel happy for you, wish I was there in the UK to go with you :)
Awesome job friendo!!!
So Noel's over in LA visiting the Don't Look back in Anger video set whilst you are at Rockfield re-creating the same song with the original sound engineer. I think you and NG are in cahoots 😆😃
Enjoyed the video, I don't think noel would care about the guitar anymore but it was great you guys had fun in the studio.
Absolutely brilliant video - what an experience.
Brilliant James, i was also lucky enough to play this guitar which features on the latest single What Was Meant To Be.
ITS SOUND ENGINEERS LIKE THIS THAT KEEP ROCK HISTORY ALIVE AND WELL!!
HE EVEN KEEPS THE ACOUSTIC GUITAR IN A TEMPRETURE CONTROLLED CASE, THATS MORE LUXURY THEN MOST THE WORLD LIVES IN.
This is so fkn surreal !!! Keep rocking on
Great video for oasis fans. Thank u
Fantastic video, loved it. Hate to say that Takemine made and supplied a few of those guitars, so not all the clips you show are the same one (not that really matters at all - it’s the Rockfield link you want). Keep it up James!
Keep living the dream mate.
You are living the Oasis nerds dream! If you ever need other nerds to accompany you to historical Oasis places then please don’t hesitate to give us a shout!!
Did you get the model number of the Takamine by any chance?
I reckon Noel had two of these acoustics. If you watch Knebworth he seems to play Whatever, Cast No Shadow and Wonderwall before swapping guitars for the Masterplan. They look identical but neither seems to have the soundhole pickup.
Correction, he plays Whatever and Cast No Shadow and swaps for the second guitar with the capo for Wonderwall. If you watch the second night you clearly see him swapping back for the Masterplan. This explains how he gave one to Nick and still used one for solo live appearances.
I'm watching this wearing the same socks as yesterday wow!
No wonder he used takamine, I played one for the 1st time 20 years ago and it was absolute perfection, never experienced it before or since
Dare I ask, was the recording done to analog tape or digitally??
I stayed there this time last year when I was seeing family. Beautiful area
I really enjoyed this such an interesting video it must of been a fantastic experience, but I'm just wondering if you publish the song on here won't you run the risk of getting a copyright strike as the TH-cam bots etc will probably think it's the original song.
This might be the coolest vid on uTube. If there better than this, no, there isn't. trust me.
Cool video, James
Hora Prima was recorded in Miami, FL. BTW
another great video ❤
oh man, you must have been buzzin'
Imagine they go to the extreme lengths to recreate the music video. THAT would be unreal
23:58 this is amazing lol
Great video ❤️
What time of the year was it when oasis recorded don't look back in anger?
They recorded the album in May 1995
Wow very exciting channel if your a fan of oasis. Thank you
Great video! 🙌🏼🙌🏼What about the Epiphone sj200 than the one in the cover of Definitely Maybe there are fotos of Noel And Alan where you can see that Guitar an in the supernova documental Noel uses the Epiphone frontier. I think he use those for Whats the story, and the Takamine
Later after Whats the story had come out.
@Offgrid Confusing grammar. 😅 Though, I dare say Kurt's guitar was the most popular guitar of the 90's...All Around The World. ☺
That was brilliant
That guitar could sell at auction for over a million dollars once Nick is ready to sell it. Maybe Noel will buy it back from him once he sells the catalogue he gets back from Sony.
Loving the authentic Riviera, though you didn't look too excited by it? You should borrow it and do a video, seeing as both Noel and Bonehead used them so much. Fun fact though, apparently Noel recorded DLBIA on an ex Johnny Marr 1962 Stratocaster!
Bonehead is using an identical guitar at Knebworth and unplugged. So there were at least two examples of this guitar in Oasis possession at the time
Does anyone know what strings noel uses on his acoustics, not the strings that are used on the gibson/epiphones, but the ones he used/uses on takamines? love the video as always, keep up the good work :)
@inter yer mam FC cheers :)
Great video, thank you for sharing! At the 20 minute point, to record John's lead guitar did Nick Brine use those two microphones he was holding? Do you have any pictures or video of that?
The strings can’t possibly be the originals if he uses it numerous times after the recording guitar techs change strings every session but still cool as fuck man
I was going to say the same thing. Surely he would have changed them every couple of weeks?
Awesome vid again James , Can you just let us know what mic was used to record vocals , cheers )))
Japanese made Takamines rival the best of what Taylor & Martin are doing; I’ve got a PSF95 - beautiful sounding guitar.
24:24 was wayyyy funnier than it should have been 🤣🤣
Excellent, I can't wait to hear the mix.
What model Takamine is the NG guitar?
Takamine FP460SC
Sounds different, was it the same plectrum ?
Nice video, it really transmit the joy and excitement you had there in that special place. By the way, I have heard, maybe in your channel?, that the guitar solo in DLBIA was recorded on a stratocaster, is this right?
Great
Awesome! Did you get a chance to take a note of the model of that Takamine??
I have the same guitar, I bought it in 1996. I have videos of me playing it on my channel
have you done the oasis tour in Manchester?
Imagine your playing noels guitar and one of the strings snap!
QUALITY CONTENT
How much do we reckon that guitars currently worth ?
Plz tutorial for that version of dlbia
Wait, how did noel play don't go away live in 1998 with the guitar if he gave it to Nick Brine during the recording of Be Here Now?
Borrowed it back just for the tour
Was Nick only 18 when they recorded WTSMG
Not far off just a kid
“He’s going bald!”
Emotional damage!😂
What song is he playing at 17:27 seconds?
Half the World Away
What is the guitar model?
Breath breath in the air
It would be less hot if everyone took their jackets and sweaters off
For the record, as the resident Australian of the group, I thought it was quite cold
What gauge strings are on the guitar
Just confirms what crap noel had to deal with with Liam. Surprising is how he took it for that long
What mics where they ?
What type of takamine is that mate? do they sell it?
Today is going to be the day.
Maybe it was a different Takamine guitar that Noel took on tour
This channel is fucking Oasis GOLD
Nice
Drink every time he says "Rockfield".
My inner fan boy is seathing with jealousy.
bass guitar model? travesty :D
I think "most important guitar of the 1990s" is stretching it. Maybe in the BritRock scene, but not world and genre wide.
"thats gonna be worth 10s of pounds someday" hahahahah
Deluded
So just to confirm…. You did this exactly the same?
