    That white Traxxas Slash is the most sick insane upgraded car I've ever seen. More power to you brother keep those videos coming kudos

    I picked up a slash vxl 4x4 a few weeks ago and while I'm sure the newer 4 pole vxl setup is a better performer than the 2 pole that came in yours, this video made me want more. More power, more speed, all while keeping it on the cool side. I initially was going to order the same motor and esc as you but opted for the larger 3674 2200kv version of the motor, and went with a trackstar 120a waterproof esc capable of 4s. I will have it all installed end of next week and I'm excited.
    Thank you for these awesome videos you put out. You're my go to TH-cam RC guy 😁

    That is the most impressed I've been on a slash yet. 2s seems like more than enough juice for this thing. If you are getting the Losi xxxl you will be amazed at the size and power that thing has got.

    Turnigy is actually REALLY good for the price. I'm running a 10.5t brushless motor on the 120a trackstar turbo and it makes my short course rustler SCREAM and has insane accel/top speed plus the battery runs for about 45 mins on this setup

    When you ran your truck on 3s and when it stopped. Was that a heat issue? How hot was the motor after? Was the car ever in danger of burning or did you program the ESC to cut off at a certain temperature? What do you usually do to combat heat problems?

    Hi Vas!.....I personally like the new format....it actually puts a figure on each category and then the overall number and once you get several more reviews then you will have an established baseline that viewers can look at and be able to see which rc would give them the best bang for their buck especially for someone that is new and looking for their first or second rc...nice job great idea IMO to set a number system up for your reviews. Now all you have to do is redo all your other reviews in this format...lmbo 😉

    Sir, I ordered the combo....you said in the video that you used a 20T-pinion on 3S. Since your results are perfect I will do that too.
    Of course I want to make use of the 4S-capability of that setup. Do you see a problem with that? The motor on 20T/3S was super-cold, was'nt it....so 4S shoud work fine, right?

    Although I really like your contents, this one was jaw dropping. Unfortunately I couldn't finde this motor and esc in stock on the net. Could you please name a similar motor(s) and esc(s) of this category (2s-4s) for the Slash now, 3-4 years later? That'd be great.

  • @MatthewFant
    @MatthewFant 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I was going to say, HUH? But damn, it's hard to argue with results :-) I've ben thinking about going all out on mine for awhile now, but I still like it stock. It would be fun to cram the 1/8 scale brushless motor and some 4s lipo in. Perhaps this body, and similar 2.8 tire setup. You made it look pretty damn awesome Vasco, great job.Oh, BTW, E Revo Brushless still going strong! Stock diffs, no crazy breaks. And the other day, I tuned the slipper clutch so the car would not wheelie even on 6s, and set some blazing fast laps at my local park! 53 mph on the stock gearing!

  • @InTheDogHouse3DPrinting
    @InTheDogHouse3DPrinting 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you have a smaller pinion gear or spur gear wit the 3MM holes, can they be drilled out to 5MM without hurting them? Would there be enough meat left on the gears themselves so they don't blow up while running?
    Another great video, and this truck runs better on 2S than mine does on 3S.

    • @AussieRCPlayground
      @AussieRCPlayground  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never a good idea to do that. You risk drilling it off centre and that will cause all sorts of issues to your spur and could even run the motor too hot. Plus, a pinion is only a few bucks, so not worth the trouble.

    • @InTheDogHouse3DPrinting
      @InTheDogHouse3DPrinting 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with drilling it off center, especially if you drill it by hand, but I was thinking of using a drill press to keep it centered.
      But if you have a motor with a 5MM shaft, there aren't a lot of gearing options for it yet.
      That is what I was thinking about.

    Hi Vas,
    Another great video. You said you used a 22T pinion and I assume this is 32 pitch. Did you use the stock spur gear with this set up or a different spur gear size?
    I was also thinking about using this same motor and similar esc in the Vaterra Ford Raptor. What would you recommend for the pinion size and pitch and spur gear size for the Vaterra's?
    Your help with answering these questions is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    I have the same slash with tsm system but I had to upgrade the esc and motor so picked hobbywing esc quicrun and mamba monster 2650kv motor with 20t pinion gear.. Of course I had to remount receiver box under front shock tower but the car is now very speedy and maintains great torque on 3 cell battery although I can run even 6 cell battery using the new esc.. Soon I will post a video to show all these upgrades but thanks for your video it's very nice.

    What a great video I love this car so much ... but I think everyone should get the dust proof bag it’s very annoying how much dust and dirt goes inside the body ... lots of fun really but I have a little bit doubt that the arrma centon would be much better cuz I didn’t like the castle ESC on this one at all it overheats quickly and keeps disconnecting to low voltage mode.. just my personal opinion.

    So with the xk-3665 3190kv motor and 120A esc, it seems that would be a downgrade from the velineon combo, right? ...Or am I missing something?
    I mean, the fun run is impressive, but how does your motor/esc combo compare to the stock velineon setup? Thanks

    • @AussieRCPlayground
      @AussieRCPlayground  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This truck is about 3 years old and at the time I bought it the Velineon system was no good. It was under powered, it ran very hot and was inefficient. Most that was due to the poor choice from Traxxas to run a high kv 2 pole motor that was not meant to be run on their 4x4 vehicles.
      This combo will run much cooler, faster and far more efficient. And it will do so all day long. This is a 4 pole motor with far more power and it's matched to a much better (Hobbywing rebranded) ESC. The results speak for themselves, so it is NOT a downgrade, but a very budget friendly upgrade. You can check out the speed test I did with this truck to draw your own conclusion. Cheers.

    • @ryandorman8005
      @ryandorman8005 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Aussie RC Playground the newer ones with the 4 pole motor are decent once you throw the garbage esc in the parts bin, I went a bit more uparmored on mine, 3800kv 3656sl 4-pole quicrun motor and a hobbywing wp-sc8 esc, no I don't run it on 4s, 3s it's bombproof and plenty psychotic for power, simply because I drive the thing through or over anything that gets in my way, beit sand ,varmit, or lake, so the waterproof is mandatory, all in all about $125 here in the states for the motor/esc, your still missing out on some bombproofing, need mip x-duty steel cvd's front and rear, a tekno big bone center shaft and my choice for servo is the turnigy 1258tg it's faster under load than the savox 1258tg and half the price, as for power, 3s 6500mah 60c hardcase brick (GForce from value hobbies here in states), set of 2.8 proline masher monster truck tires, geared 13/54 (safe to run wfo on a 90deg day in a parking lot track/bash fest without cooking on 3s at well over 50mph all day long) you can roll it up to a curb till the bumper touches, yank it wide open and it will pull a double backflip before it hit's the ground. there's just something about a slash 4x4 with a good esc/motor, it scratches an itch that no other rc can quite get to, doesn't need to be an 1/8 motor, the last year has given us the glory of ungodly power from a 3655ish size/class 4-pole which honestly will go faster and harder than anybody can drive the thing outside of strict speed runs.

    • @AussieRCPlayground
      @AussieRCPlayground  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Adam Bawden Be careful putting into the Basher SCT, the diffs aren't very strong and you may find that you'll blow out a diff once in a while. However, for gearing go with a 18 or 19T pinion, it's what I used on my Basher. Try to stick to 2S and turn down punch on the ESC or use expo on the remote for smooth acceleration. If power comes on too strong, it's bye bye diffs. Just a heads up.

      Aussie RC Playground, I was just wondering if it was capable of it. Was thinking about putting on a light weight buggy. What would be a good motor with a can no bigger than 3660 that would match up with a hobby wing 60 amp esc running 3s it's a 1/10 scale 4 wheel drive. That's not gonna cost me that much? I'm just learning about all this kinda new to brushless systems. Could you help me out please, some people just make fun of me an tell me ta buy this esc an this motor. I don't have money for all that or I would I'm just trying to find a motor compatible with my esc an doesn't cost that much.

      If you check the description and click on the link in the info it says it can run 4s or 16.8 volts basically 5s but 4s would be possible but watch for temps you know because when something is max out at the highest current it might get pretty hot and aussie if you read this click your own link and looked at it it changed from what it used to look like now also 5s capable and the diffs in the slash can take 4s just check Kevin talbot he made his 4s and he ran 4s on the velion motor which says on 3s but he also ran it on 6s so go for it and its 30 to 35$ which is cheap for 4s capable motors 😄

      The motor was about $30AUD from Hobbyking and the ESC was about $80AUD from Tower Hobbies. The body was about $50-60AUD and I can't remember how much the tires where, but you can look them up on the Tower Hobbies website.

    Just curious. is there a reason why you don't care too much about the Traxxas brushless motor. I do see in this video that the motor that you have in there just put out more power it looks a little bigger too. I know that my two wheel drive slash is quick and fast but not quite as much as that truck you have there. 😎🤘

      @AussieRCPlayground  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      So far, so good. I'm a dozen packs through it, some on 3S, and still going strong. I think it's rated to 4S (if I remember correctly), so using it on 2&3S is not really pushing it.

      good to know, i recently got this kershaw motor 3674 2700kv which was only 30 bucks and it has been absolutely awesome.i want something a little higher kv though for 2s. Im convinced now that buying a 100 dollar motor makes no sense. thanks vas!
