      Thanks Stu, you are right about Yewbarrow, it was steep going up the first part of. We were gutted when the clouds rolled in, but as you say, it was atmospheric and added a bit more interest to the walk. We had a great day and are looking forward to heading back to the Lakes. Thanks for watching & commenting Stu, it is appreciated. Take care. Cheers. Eddie.

    Can’t do much better than having Yewbarrow and Haycock in the same walk Eddie😊. Shame though that Carole didn’t get to witness the views from Yewbarrow. Another great vid. Atb

      Thanks Stuart. The original plan was to head over to Pillar after Scoat Fell & Steeple, but the clouds seemed to be slower clearing from Pillar so decided to leave Pillar for another day and head in the opposite direction to Haycock. I was gutted Carol didn't get the views from Yewbarrow and I have said to her that she will have to do Yewbarrow again to get the views, ha! Thanks for watching & commenting Stuart, it is appreciated. Hope you are well. Take care. Cheers. Eddie.

    Grand views of Steeple and Ennerdale Eddie! Congrats again to Carole for getting up (and down) Yewbarrow, I think you made the right call descending off the side path to Dore Head, I did the same on my visit. Shame about the clag obscuring the views on Yewbarrow, but the weather came good in the end for you both. Atb Anthony👍👍👍

      Carol says " Thank You" I am not sure if she would go up Yewbarrow again, ha! I was disappointed for Carol that she did not get the views from Yewbarrow, it just shows how the weather can change quickly on the fells. I thought the views over to Steeple and Ennerdale were the best of the day, we really enjoyed that part of the walk. Thanks for watching & commenting Anthony, it is appreciated. Take care. Cheers. Hi Eddie and Carol, thanks for another brilliant video. What a fabulous walk that was. I feel more reassured by your footage of Yewbarrow - I reckon I could do it. I seem to remember some exposure on Steeple that nearly freaked me out, lol! Glad you had such a good day. Keep the videos coming. - always so enjoyable. All the best, Yvette and Mark

We had a cracking day and are already planning our next trip to the Lakes. Thanks for watching & for the kind comments, it is always appreciated. Best Wishes to Mark & Yourself. Cheers. Eddie.

    Been waiting for your next video Eddie and it hasn't disappointed. Really fantastic views over Ennerdale Eddie. Really good. Shame about the cloud coming in over Yewbarrow and Red Pike but what can yer do when yer clogs leak ha ha. Really good idea to edit in the views from your earlier walk of 2019. Carol still had a big smile on her face at the top of Yewbarrow! Glad to see it didn't spoil your day. Smashing video I really enjoyed watching. Cheers David

      Thanks David. When the mist and low cloud came in I decided I wasn't going to do a video as I thought there would be no point, without any views etc. We were both pleased when it cleared up later in the walk to give us some great views. Carol was so pleased to have "conquered" Yewbarrow as it is a fell she has been putting off doing for a while now. We were going to go over to Pillar after Scoat Fell but there was still a lot of low cloud around Pillar, so decided to go in the opposite direction to Haycock instead. We had a great day and are already looking forward to our next trip to the Lakes. Thanks for watching & for the kind comments, it is appreciated. Cheers. Eddie.

    Another great video Eddie and Carol. Great views. We did Grike, crag Fell and Caw Fell on thursday (8th of July). We were going to go on to Lank Rigg but by the time we trudged over to Caw Fell we couldn't see 10 yards in front of us. We wwnt back on the saturday to Lank. The plan is to do Pillar, Scoat, Steeple and Haycock this friday, we'll see.

      @@eddiecaisley5746 Thanks Eddie. We did the Coniston round a few weeks ago, Old Man, Brim Fell, Grey Friar, Great Carrs, Swirl How and Weatherlam. That made me think how much Carol 'enjoyed' Weatherlam. That was very cloudy/mist as well but by late afternoon it got a bit better. Just did'nt have enough energy left to do Dow Crag as well. We also got up to Red Screes and Middle Dodd and had to abandon that as well. We could see nothing and were soaked through. Leaves some for another day. Cheers

    Normally the camera does not show how steep a climb is but on this one, man, that looked a killer to get up and a real scrambley assent to the summit. I was a bit worried when the weather started to pull in but good to see your 'normal' weather returned, allowing some majestic views, no matter which way you looked. Long drive and a tough day as well, I'll bet, cheers Alan

      Hi Alan, yes it was steep with some scrambling involved to reach the summit. Yewbarrow is a fell Carol has been putting off for a while now, so she was really pleased to get to the top ( not sure she would do it again though, ha!) We were gutted when the low cloud and mist rolled in and I nearly stopped filming as there was no views, but as you say our normal weather came back and we got some views once we passed Red Pike. You are right about the drive, it is a good 3 hour drive for us to get over to Wasdale. A tough, but enjoyable day! Thanks for watching and commenting Alan, it is appreciated. Take care. Cheers. Don't know how I missed the video Eddie, Very well done to Carol, Yewbarrow is steep and a scramble in places, even the first part slogging up the steep grassy slope is bad enough, even worse coming down when your feet are killing you! Didn't see you going to The Chair on Red Pike, did you give that a miss? Great views from Scoat Fell and Steeple.Thanks for another great video Eddie.

      Hi Mary, Carol was really pleased to get Yewbarrow done, it is one she was not looking forward to. We were disappointed when the low cloud and mist came in while we were heading up Yewbarrow, but pleased when it cleared to give us some great views as we continued the walk. I didn't film much at all heading up to Red Pike and nearly didn't do the video due to having no views on Yewbarrow, but changed my mind when I had a look at the footage when we got home. We didn't bother going over to the "chair" on Red Pike due to the low cloud and mist. Hope you and Derek are both Well ( and have recovered from your adventure with Graham on Great Gable!) Thanks for watching & commenting, it is always appreciated. Take Care, both of you. Cheers. Eddie.

      @@eddiecaisley5746 Pleased Carol has got Yewbarrow out of the way then.We're both fine thanks. Our last walk with Graham and Rob was two days after the Great Gable adventure, it was the hottest day of the weeks walking, we did Pillar, Scoat Fell, Steeple, Red Pike and Graham had planned to do Yewbarrow via Stirrup Crag on the way back down! We were in shade until we reached Black Sail Pass but after that there was no respite from the baking sun, it really was far too hot to be walking in. By the time we'd left the chair on Red Pike and looking across to Stirrup Crag there was no way I could have faced doing that my feet were killing me as it was, I had the wrong boots on for walking in that heat, luckily everyone else thought we'd done enough too so Yewbarrow via Stirrup Crag can wait until another day. 10 miles and 4 fells in sweltering heat was enough for me. Having said all that I still thoroughly enjoyed the day. I really enjoy walking with The Fat Boys. Hope to see you and Carol again soon. Cheers Mary

      @@maryashbridge You did really well doing all that, without Yewbarrow in that heat. We are keeping away from the Lakes at the moment to avoid the heat and the crowds! Tried this yesterday and failed, more scrambling than I anticipated too difficult for a 9 year old. Does it look harder than it actually is up through great door?

    • @eddiecaisley5746
      @eddiecaisley5746  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, sorry to hear that you didn't get to the top, but you made the right call if your 9 year old was not comfortable with the scrambling. Once you get up to Great Door, the route is a lot easier with very little scrambling from that point onwards. Carol ( my wife) is not keen on scrambling and does not like sudden drops. She struggled with some of the scrambling, but managed in the end. You could try a different route, heading through the valley following Over Beck to Dore Head. There is a path which runs along the side of Yewbarrow from Dore Head and heads up to the summit. This path is rocky in places but avoids all the tricky scrambling. Take Care. Cheers. Eddie
