  • A walk starting from Wythburn car Park near Thirlmere in the Lake District.
The walk follows a clear path starting direct from the car park and heads up to Nethermost Pike (891m). We then follow the ridge to the Birkett of High Crag (884m) and the Wainwright summit of Dollywagon Pike (858m).
From Dollywagon Pike we return back along the ridge, skirting around Nethermost Pike before heading up to Helvellyn (950m)
After enjoying the views from Helvellyn ( and bumping into our friend Vince)
we return to Wythburn car park using the same path as the outward route.
    A superb walk.
    Distance is around 6.5 miles.

Hi Eddie, Hi Carol, absolutely wonderful, your drone footage is amazing, and the colours and light spectacular. I’ve never notice the contrast between the grass crags of Helvellyn and the brown/grey of the summit plateau before.
Thanks as always for sharing your adventure
    All the b3st

Hi Dave, thanks. It was great to be back in the Lakes and we both had a great day. We really enjoyed this route and is one we will be doing again. Simply spectacular Eddie! Fantastic views all around, and the aerial shots are just superb. Thanks for another great video, and for sharing your day. You have captured the splendour of the place so well. I've been looking forward to watching this one for a couple of days. I did the path up from wythburn years ago, some great memories. Hope to get back up there in a few weeks. All the best to you both.

Hi Peter, thanks for such positive comments, it is appreciated. This was our first time back in the Lakes in nearly a year and we really enjoyed being back on the fells. We both loved this route and will definitely be doing it again sometime. The views were great all the way. I took the plunge and bought the drone recently to try and add something different to the videos. I am still experimenting with the settings etc. We are hoping to get back over to the Lakes again soon, keep an eye out for us when you are there! Thanks again for watching & for the comments. Best Wishes to you from us both.

Hi Eddie & Carol. Great to see you back out in the Lakes. You got fantastic views of Thirlmere, Red Tarn and Ullswater beyond. My particular favourite is of Striding Edge at 5.24. It's absolutely knockout! Great views too of all the surrounding fells. Loved the drone footage. You chose a terrific route with nice easy paths to follow. Even I would struggle to get lost ha. Thanks for sharing & keep on smiling David

      Hi Eddie (and Carol)
Well four months ago I watched this video. Last month I watched it again in Newfoundland in Canada. Today, I climbed the exact route with some friends!
Don’t underestimate how good these videos are AND how helpful they are when planning hikes. It was exactly as you said it would be (except the parking meter in the car park was VERY temperamental!!
I wish I knew how to attach some photos. The view over St Sunday Crag from Dollywagon Pike was magnificent!
Keep them coming and thank you again for posting your videos!!
      All the very best
