  • My old battery is getting bad, so I bought a new Lithium battery from SHIDO.
They say it is a big difference in weight between ordinary
    lead battery and Lithium battery.
I weighed the batteries to see the difference.
I didn't think it would be so much difference in weight between the two batteries.
You see the difference between the two batteries in this video.
Excuse me for my little insecurity, but I've just removed the battery once before and it was a very long time ago.
The video is filmed with GoPro Hero4 Silver.

Thanks for putting together this video! It's so much nicer being able to watch someone actually get to the battery in real life instead of having to put it together through diagrams. Greatly appreciated! :Also, you should totally sign up for Amazon's Affiliate Program and then put links in the video notes to both batteries (some people still prefer lead-acid) so you can get a little cash for referrals. I'm buying the SHIDO for my '15 after watching this. :)

Thank you very much for enjoying the video.
It's always nice to be able to help someone who may have a little trouble.
I have to change my tires soon, maybe I'll upload a video how to remove the wheels.

Thanks for this, very informative. Just replaced the battery on my '13 (first time doing it) and it helped a lot. Still had a number of issues, especially getting the connecting bolt to thread onto the nut in the post (especially the positive terminal). Also, the new battery is less tall than than the old, so the bracket holding the battery doesn't lock down, but I'll find something to prop underneath later, but finally managed it and she starts up fine now.
I still may well get this same battery you installed in the video, looks to be a lot better. Thanks again.

Nice that you like the video. I can imagine that there will be little problem if the battery is not as high as the original. The only negative I have about my new battery is the cold starters. If it is about 10 degrees Celsius or colder, it became very difficult to start the bike.

Thanks bro. very informative! Just to check if we can just install SHIDO right from shelf? Any pre-charge is required?

      Thanks!
You can probably mount the battery directly. I did not have to charge my battery when I installed it.
At the top of the battery there is a button that you can press to check the battery status.
If you are going to charge the battery, I recommend a charger for Lithium batteries.

@@TheJocke77 Thanks! Appreciated it...I am sick of having my lead-acid charged once every 3 months. By the way, this tutorial can be applied for my 2016 speed triple as well, no much different

      Hi!
The brand is Healtech and I bought it from one of their distributor in my country. You can go to Healtech's website and see which distributor there are in your country.

No, I've never felt like I needed a steering damper.
Yes, the SC Project slip-on had no db killer.

Did it make a difference, especially in terms of hot-starting? A before-after might've been a helpful addition to this video.

The only thing I noticed after I installed the battery is that the bike is hard to start after being parked outside for about 8 hours when it's cold outside, 10 degrees Celsius and lower. Talked to the dealer about this and he said that the Lithium battery is weak when it's a little colder outside. I got a tip to let the ignition be on for about 1-2 minutes before I start. It got better after I tested this.

@@TheJocke77 Thanks very much Yes, he's right, LiPo batteries need to warm up to deliver starting current. Warm weather round here, so doubt I'll have that problem. However - I was hoping that you'd have observed some improvement in cranking or hot start ability. I run into that problem frequently, the bike simply won't turn over if turned off when hot, typically have to wait for five-ten minutes. Maybe your lead acid battery was in pretty decent condition to begin with.

    • @TheJocke77
      @TheJocke77  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@cyclegear1403 I've never had any trouble starting when the bike is hot neither before or after installing the battery. Maybe the bike starts a bit faster after installation, but it may be my imagination. What you describe seems a little strange.

@@TheJocke77 That's disconcerting. When it first happened to me I looked it up on forums and found a fair few people experiencing the same thing so hopefully it's not something that's just wrong with my bike. Perhaps wherever you are just doesn't get hot enough to produce that problem. In any case - I hope to be fitting the new battery over the weekend so hopefully things get better. Thanks very much for your videos and your insights. =)
