  • (K&N Install starts at 2:00 mark) Going through how to remove the tank on a 2005 to 2010 Triumph Speed triple 1050 and install a new air filter; I also put in a higher capacity Antigravity ATX-20 Restart Lithium battery. Toward the end I test ride the bike to see if the filter changed anything!

Been watching your videos since you had that sweet Suzuki SV1000. During that time I picked up a 2010 Triumph Street triple, so it’s pretty dope to see the big brother version of my bike out on the east coast. Glad to see you share the same enjoyment of the classic round headlights of this generation street and speed triples as I do!

@@jerryx2000 My 2013 Street Triple burned a little in the first year while it was bedding in, 24K miles after that and its been pretty much as you'd expect. Triumph tend to over-engineer everything, at least on the mechanical side, so as long as you do the regular oil changes it seems pretty robust. Steering bearings are a little soft on them and need tightening up, as did the frame mounts when I noticed some vibration through the footpegs.

I always love to see an older Speed Triple getting some love. I often regret getting rid of my 08 Speed. I replaced it with a 13 Speed which is amazing but not quite as visceral. It doesn't seem like its always trying to kill me like the older one.
Definitely need an exhaust on that bad boy, you'll be blown away at what an Arrow or something similar does to it.

Got the same battery. The nice thing about those batteries is the battery screw and nuts actually fit in the terminal connectors. So you don't lose the square nuts as easily too. Bike looks really good. Was never a fan of the double headlight. But its working.

Nice! Belated New Year to your, family, and friends Illestrator, currently watching..
.. couldn't really hear any difference, but it's not my everyday aural experience as it IS yours.
But a clean, new filter will add a slight percentage of performance, and noise without it being full of accumulated dirt and crud actings as a dampener.
Nice to see some triple power raising its head in celebratory affirmation.

I miss my triple. Anyways, you’re letting more air in the top of the engine but it’s still restricted by the exhaust. When you install a less restrictive exhaust you’ll now be able to flow more mixture through. More power. But you’ll need to tune at that point.

The early Speed 1050's (2005-2007) suffer from stator failure due to overheating of the windings.I have a 2005 model and it's on its 4th stator in 30,000 miles.Apparently the fix is to fit a stator, rotor and stator engine cover from a late 2008 to 2010 model.I always use Motobatt batteries....I dont trust lithium ion batteries, they can catch fire if overcharged and if the battery ever gets really low it is ruined,or so I've been told.

Hey, just had my 06 Speed Triple lose battery charge after I left my key in it last night. This morning I had to jump start it with my SUV. It started by really unstable. And It didn't charge the batter with the engine running. And for the first time, the engine check light came on and the bike started overheating. I shut it and parked it. Is this simple a matter of a low charge battery not runnig the radiator and spark plugs correctly? Can I just charge the Lead Acid Yuasa battery with a 12V wall charger?

That fuel pump connector is fun huh? XD That fuel pump is the last part on the list for getting my friends speed triple going. Shes running a different tank than stock and because of that we need a matching fuel pump. And on top of that fuel pump and level sender are seprate connectors on her bike, instead of one single connector like the new pump will have. Should be straight forward to wire up thankfully worst case I'll need a resistor on the fuel level sender for it to read right, or she'll just have to check the tank.

Not to be a downer but there is a reason i have a 2007 and a 2009 speed triple, and that is because i had a lithium battery in my 07 and because the electrical system didn’t like the lithium the battery caught fire and took out my computer, now mine wasn’t a antigravity but just be careful and maybe upgrade the rectifier, but as far as tuning it goes TuneECU is where its at, the cable is about 50 bucks on eBay and you can tune it with just a android phone or tablet

I stick with OEM with Triumph... They can be picky especially with warranty as the service guy told me that a K&N oil filter has been known to damage the engine. So I only use OEM for my oil and air filters.

    • @eskertoo
      @eskertoo ปีที่แล้ว

K&N oil filters with the nut on the bottom for easy removal can be dangerous. The weld around the nut can split causing oil to dribble out and get on the rear tyre.I nearly crashed 100 miles from home due to this happening ...the rear tyre was covered in oil! Apparently this is not unknown on those filters. So I was stuck 100 miles away and the breakdown man would not recover me because of covid regulations.Anyway I contacted K&N in the UK and they were not interested as the filter was not fitted by a'Trained Technician.'I have seen a TH-cam video of a bloke on a Triumph Daytona 675 and the oil filter had exploded!

..yes, that current system looks all stock stainless steel; you can tell because it's all Truinph's chrome plated (&/or highly polished stainless) as standard against UK s rain & road dirt corrosion, and to help with additional thermal retention for the CATS in the cans.

Sound difference is likely all placebo... I've looked at the lithium mod, but living in a 4 season state is not good. Lithium dislikes cold. So unless you are removing the battery from the bike or storing in a warm garage. Not worth it. AGM batteries are typically good for ~5 years.. I had to push my bike home 3 miles when it died during a ride.. Twice..

DO NOT wash Triumphs really any motorcycle with a hose .. the water is captured in the connector , then corrodes.. really should wash any road going bike w/ a hose, pressure sprayer type asher.. Take all your connectors apart and saturate w/ dielectric grease. Triumph doesn't have weather tight connectors .. Lithium batteries are the worst in cold weather...Grab a charger and install a the charger "pig-tail' on the battery... but you'll need a special lithium charger .. Nest time you go to clean your K&N, leave it dry, no filter oil..yep DRY.. we'd run our 245 and 265 HP kitted Rocket III w/ dry airfilters .... no issues . air filters are a maintenance item ..offer very little if any added performance unless you have a hi performance built engine that can 'use' or requires more air... The Speed Triple triple, airbox induction can only 'process' so much air no matter what filter you have in ..Keep the battery on a charger.. far better off to remove a battery during cold months, even if only a few weeks.. regardless if Lithium or lead acid AGM battery. When you install it it has all it's CCA available ...
