    lifesaver! just got back from my garage saying they needed to do additional investigation work on my Civic to fix my A/C issue. They spoke about the clutch not spinning, this corresponded with your video, went out gave the relay a tap. FIXED! 6 years later you've just saved me hours of time and money

    Brilliant! Just got back from garage to get AC regassed only to be told that the controls aren't communicating with the compressor, that i would have to take it to honda and bend over for them. A quick google, find this video and everything is sorted, brilliant work thanks for the help.

    I'm more of an airplane guy than a car guy but I have a Honda Civic that recently had it's AC stop working. I have yet to attempt this method of repair though I must say this was a great video - much better than any of the other results upon searching for an informative video. Great work.

  • @EminemLovesGrapes

    Thank you so much. I had my AC refilled at a Honda garage, and they told me "it should work" and it doesn't. Being able to identity which pulley is the aircon pulley and being able to diagnose helps me a ton to assess whether it's gonna be an expensive fix -- or if I can avoid wasting the garage's time. I'll try it tomorrow and see whether I'm in for a bill or not 😂

    • @EminemLovesGrapes
      @EminemLovesGrapes 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The gist of my problem was, a LEAK. A few lines were replaced, and the condenser as well. Now finally, after two years of baking the AC is blowing cold air again.

    Thanks for the video, I actually checked the relais and the fuse as the first two things when the ac stopped working but the fuse was fine and the relais was clicking so I expected it to work. Turns out that even if it was clicking it was not making proper contact. I opened it and cleaned up the contacts with some sandpaper and now it works.. so for anyone reading this you might be able to to the same.. Ofc the proper way to fix the problem is to replace it BUt as a temporary solution it may work for a while.

    I wish all AC repairs were that easy. On my MK4 Astra I had to replace both the compressor and condenser and once it had been recharged it was fine. On my Citroen C4 Grand Picasso I had the system recharged only to find out that the condenser was leaking so I fitted a brand new one. I damaged the end of the high pressure line from the condenser to the evaporator so I replaced it with a good used part along with new O rings. It was recharged nearly 2 weeks ago and it has been fine ever since.

    Hi, any dangers of making a tap on that relay ? My aircon starts for few seconds when I start the car and then shut's down for all the rest trip. Some mechanics said, that I need to change pressure sensor. Also an external temp sensor (this failed recently, but aircon failed earlier).
    I would like to test this method if it won't damage my probably good relay.

    • @OneAuto
      @OneAuto  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just a light tap as demonstrated won’t hurt it. You may have other problems causing it not to work but this is a common problem. If unsure take it to your local A/C specialist

    My Civic 2008 LXI Sedan AC works fine in Winter, I have had it gassed, Oil Topped up. But in Summer it will work for hundreds of km's but the minute I hit Traffic, it goes off just when you need it most. I have changed the relay made no difference. I am thinking there might be a heat sensor on the AC pump that is faulty or the Clutch won't engage when it warms up as it cycles fine until you get into Traffic. Any Idea's anyone, Take a shim out of the Clutch or is it maybe not getting enough power to pull the Clutch in when it's hot? Honda spares prices are scary in our neck of the woods.

    If the relay was ok but the system was low on gas would the compressor still spin?

    • @OneAuto
      @OneAuto  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ant Byrne No it needs to be fully gassed up

    Hey guys great video. I have that identical car. I tried tapping on the relay but the compressor still doesn't spin. There is a relay to the right of the ac relay,it doesn't say on the fuse box lid what it's for,I'm hoping it's a spare so that I can swap it over,does anyone know if it's the same type?..thanks
