That has to have been the best explanation of a sealer I’ve ever heard. Simple and straightforward, thank you. PS I thought you did a great job getting the frame squared up in the last scene I also thought it was funny how Stewart walked in at the end and looked around like “who are you talking to man?” 🤣 Take care.
Another great refinishing Job Larry, once again you prove that you and Mr. Ton are my favorite go to guys for knowledge, craftsmansip, it is an Art what you do. Thanks again for sharing. beautifull job.
Great to see you again. Buddy it's too damned hot to be working that hard.....lol.....but as always, an amazing result. Now go get a cold one and some air conditioning.
LOL. Yes it was pretty uncomfortable. Fortunately I wasn't under any time crunch so I could work in the early morning and knock off when it got too hot. A cold one does sound good!
Oh my, you did an amazing job! I wish we could get you to work on ours. The leaves sat in water (we didn’t know). We use this table everyday and it needs your expertise. 😢
Awesome job! I am looking forward to adding Glaze to a MCM Kent Coffey dresser I refinished a couple of years ago that needs better depth of color. Your explanations and techniques as MUCH appreciated. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us who love to refinish excellent vintage furniture.
@@LostMountainRestoration my mam as I grew up had the type of furniture that you restore. She was always giving out to me. Please don't put hot tea on the furniture (okmam) we had a bronze bottle called (ring away) that we would apply to the table to remove the ring. White ring would appear on the table. Please reply ¿?????
Hi Larry, I too learned a great deal from your video. But here is a question I hope you can help me with. I have refinished a beautiful antique table. But the top looks like quarter sawn oak and it is very orange. That Toner you used what did you dilute it with? And can you put if over Poly and then give it another coat? Thanks Ellen
This a full time gig for you? Or just something for the side? I work for a local furniture store and repair all the case goods that come in damaged or damaged on delivery and on the side I restore used and antique furniture. love your videos you have alot of talent! Keep up the great work.
It is more of a side gig to supplement my retirement and keep me busy. In the past I bought, fixed and flipped a ton of furniture. That market has faded, so now I do just a few client pieces and then repairs and touch ups for an antique mall. I'm pretty much slowing things down, picking my work carefully and trying to make more free time for other things as I get older. Best of luck to you with your business. Thanks for watching and commenting. Best regards.
Check with your local authorities to make sure you are in compliance with their regulations. In my case, I scrape it into a container with news paper and when it dries it can go in the trash. Best regards.
Did you try flaming it out? I don't know if that finish would work with that technique. You just put some alcohol over the area and light it on fire. It will remove water stains in a lot of situations. One of the neatest tricks I have ever learned.
Can you tell me what video you had done some work with solvent based grain filler? What brand do you use for stuff like that, maybe a personal favorite? Thanks
In this case I think it was the best option. You saw what happened to the factory finish, which I believe was some kind of urethane. No finish is battle armor and each has its benefits and short comings. I use lacquer on most of my projects and have had good results. Thanks for watching.
It depends on your area. If you call around you can get prices from various refinishing shops. Often, they charge by the foot and the finish type requested.
Sorry. We'll see what the future holds. I am in the process of re-arranging the shop (again) and hopefully I will have more room and larger projects won't be such a challenge. Best regards!
U could of used an iron to get out the white spots. Instead u went through all that work for nothing... and your wasting your time with sealing, toning, top coating, then glazing, then Top coating again. You should’ve just stained it Then sprayed it with lacquer done deal
Fantastic job sir! The little dog at the end was too funny!
Glad you enjoyed it
Great job!!!
Nailed it Larry! Nice work. It is good to know that other refinishers have OCD moments as well. LOL.
I have plenty! Thank you.

I think this is the best content you have produced so far ..... a great job of work
Thank you.
Well done. Beautiful neat work.

What a beautiful job! I think your customer should be very happy. I like all the detail work that you do. 🙂👍

You do everything the way I do. I did however change my final clear coat to mohawk conversion varnish 2 coats equals 8 coats of pre catalyzed lacquer
...how nice of you to help the owner restore her table, I know she will be thrilled with it!
Not at the end of the video and that table looks amazing! I just love to watch you refinish furniture you are so amazing. Thank you!
How kind of you - thanks!

Wonderful, wonderful job of refinishing.

One of the big challenges I have is discarding the mess I get off the furniture after stripping. How do you get rid of it?
Check with your local authorities to make sure you are in compliance with their regulations. In my case, I scrape it into a container with news paper and when it dries it can go in the trash. Best regards.
This was the find of the week thanks ,one question I’m tickled with the light any info ?
I got it off Amazon. It's made by Astro. Harbor Freight has a similar model for less money. Best regards.
How do you charge for refinishing ? By the hour ?
Did you try flaming it out? I don't know if that finish would work with that technique. You just put some alcohol over the area and light it on fire. It will remove water stains in a lot of situations. One of the neatest tricks I have ever learned.
I have done that on old shellac finishes, but have never tried it on a poly finish.
Can you tell me what video you had done some work with solvent based grain filler? What brand do you use for stuff like that, maybe a personal favorite? Thanks
I used it on a video entitled "Restoring the top of a mahogany dresser". I use Mohawk brand because I can get it locally. Good luck!
Is lacquer the best finish for a tabletop?
In this case I think it was the best option. You saw what happened to the factory finish, which I believe was some kind of urethane. No finish is battle armor and each has its benefits and short comings. I use lacquer on most of my projects and have had good results. Thanks for watching.
I’m finishing a walnut beam above a fireplace this weekend. What finish do you think would be appropriate?
When you said no more large refinishing :'-(......when a 45+ minute refinishing video posted...yes..I did squeal like a little girl. :-D
Long video but worth it.
I’m up in Ball Ground. Where do you get your Mohawk finishing products?
Southern Paints and Lacquer Windy Hill Rd @ S. Cobb Dr. Smyrna. Thanks for watching.
Thanks from Savannah !
How much should I expect to pay for something like this? I have a large oak table similar to this one.
It depends on your area. If you call around you can get prices from various refinishing shops. Often, they charge by the foot and the finish type requested.
I found it to be helpful. 😀
WOW ! !
I will admit I was a little sad when you said no more refinishing.
Sorry. We'll see what the future holds. I am in the process of re-arranging the shop (again) and hopefully I will have more room and larger projects won't be such a challenge. Best regards!
Please don't be sorry. You have to do what you think is best. I'm sure I'll enjoy your videos whether you're refinishing or not.

The dog is wondering who you're talking to.
I get that look from him even when the camera isn't on - lol.

It all depends on what you want the final product to look like. Thanks for watching.
@@LostMountainRestoration I guess. Personally I would’ve just took an iron to it right from the start
