As weird as this is, whenever we got to the 3rd act of Origins, and have the propery in Denerim to stay in, i always just left again so we can be back in camp.
I've replayed origins multiple times simply for the immersion and nostalgia effect of it all. Wonderful game, excellent storyline, hard choices, overall beautifully done. Arent they coming out with a remastered version sometime soon?
After waiting ten years and getting a peek at Veilguard, im afraid this might be it. No game will ever capture my heart like Origins did. Thanks to Inon Zur for creating the introspecrive soundtrack to my life. Makerspeed everyone.
You know every single generation of homo sapien has echoed this about their great works of moving experience since we started outputting the first great cave paintings and sweet dancing and music 10k's of years ago? E.g., "There won't be something like this made again. That was the best it was. It was so much better then." This subjective take on generational shared experience is perhaps the only unchanging aspect of our nature. :) No disrespect to your sentiment or any intention of taking away from what you're throwing down - I think DAO is one of the finest games yet made.
Bioware games ruined me as a gamer. Even when I play a good game now, part of me is like "But....but why can't I make any choices? Bioware games let me..."

@ZernoHD I love Mass Effect to death and whilst I definitely would rather take any of that trilogy over DA2 and DAI, DA:O in my opinion is legitimately one of the greatest games ever made. I’d most certainly take it over ME1 and I’d have a horrible time deciding between it and ME2 and 3.
Dragon age origins helped me a lot, it save me from the grief and despair I was feeling and the phrease Wynne say to my dalish "a bad person doesn't care about being bad" save me, it maked me search for help and that change everything, im sure that save me from a horrible fate Hearing this melody again it makes me cry a lot, because it feels like "you did it lethallan, you win the battle, it took you several years and it was difficult, but you did it, welcome home".
Best music in the series tbh, i spend hours lost in thought because of this song. This song also makes talking to your companions feel more emotional and impactfull.

I highly recommend you start with the first Dragon Age: Origins it's a bit outdated but more then worth it, then Dragon Age 2 then the last: Dragon Age: Inquisition. Have fun Commander! Hackett out.
I cannot count how much I would pay for a week back in my childhood when I first played this game. That's the kind of virtual experience that change you from the inside out. A true journey without leaving home

the camp fire has got i think the most melancholic theme in video gaming. Its sighing effect , speaking of sadness, but also of love , all while talking with your squadmates about personal matters, history, lore, hopes ... oh, and some sex..haha.

I only played this for the first time in 2021... what a time. Dragon Age Origins is still one of the most profound games I have ever played. Every time I think about it I want to listen to this song and just sit and think endlessly about the world and how far away Orgins took me from all the torment and toils of the world. Wish I could play it all over again fresh.

The only upside to having caught Covid in Jan 2021 was being so deprived of things to do that I was essentially forced to finally give Origins ago, after having got it on GwG in 2017 and having tried several times to play Inquisition but ultimately losing interest. i wasn’t expecting much, yet found it to be one of the absolute greatest games I’ve ever played. This one game alone made that lonely 10 days in a bedroom locked away from my family felt like an opportunity to explore a grand new world, meet new friends and for that, I’m eternally grateful to this game.
I hope you're feeling better. I too got DAO on GwG in 2017, and i must say it was one of the best things that happened to me, i spen dozens of hours playing that game and enjoying every single second, when i finally got my Gamer PC i bought DAO with all DLC's and played it 2 more times. I really love this game

i can just fall back into my pillow listening to this. this is probably the theme i appreciate most in the game; sometimes i'd just stand in camp and listen to this before going off to do whatever it is i need to do, because this really is damn soothing
It's like if everything that once was precious to us was fading away... we probably will never enjoy a game as much as this one. Fortunately we still have our memories of the good old days.
I really wish that DAO gets a graphics and combat update one day. I don't want them to touch the voice acting (not all of it, anyway), some cutscenes and animations during those cutscenes tho.
just remaster the entire game keeping in the voice acting and soundtrack. a graphics and combat overhaul and maybe a quest fixing and its a dream game.

This game holds a tender place in my heart and so does many fond memories of it. Not to devalue the greatness of this game by any means, I've realized over the years that this seems to be the place I come to when things are really tough, when I find myself struggling mentally. A camp to stay at to rest deeply, to let go for a moment, and just let emotion out.
All those times I spent playing this as a kid, from morning till evening, during summer holidays. I learnt a lot of things from this game; it kindled my love for the fantasy genre and introduced me to one of the best fantasy novels of all time, LOTR which, (it might sound crazy) ultimately led me to literature. This game will always have a special place in my heart.

You've somehow made it exactly perfect for my liking 💙 this version is what I always subconsciously wanted the camp theme to sound like. Oddly resembles the Eluvian theme in Inquisition. Also, this theme makes me feel nostalgic but I never played Origins when it came out bc I was a child at the time. I think it’s bc of the year spans between the games that I’m getting this feeling

Off topic. But my iphone rope charger is very useful as a rope. Very durable. The one with wrapping whatever. I replaced it with a new one. Had it for almost 3 years. 👍
I like listening to this while thinking on things, origins and the first mass effect were probably the only times Bioware actually did something right. Afterwards they all went down hill fast.
Robert Morris I actually think that the first games of Dragon Age as well as Mass Effect are the worst of the trilogies. Still good on their own and definitely good enough to make me want to keep playing but not as good when compared to what followed.
I may be a minority, but I definitely enjoyed DA2 way more than DAO. DAO, while it offered a lot of dialogue choices and was a long game, had a very cliche main plot.
I also really liked DA2 despite its problems. I liked being more focused on a smaller area than a huge save-the-world plot, I liked having an in-game family, and I liked having a small group of friends to hang out with and get to know over a few years. Of course, DAO had Zevran as a companion.. so it's fairly balanced ^^
alfirin657, completely agree! it was so intimate, atmospheric, all side quests were interesting and in some way related to the main conflict. it was so much less obvious good/bad conflict. all the characters somehow made a difference. there were no forgettable companions ,unlike Dao (Stan, Nathaniel,) or DaI (Viv, Blackbeard). the humor was great and the best main character since Shepard! Origins was great, but not so good for replaying. I only managed to finish it twice, Inquisition once, but DAII is so well and tightly written, that its never a chore to replay.

Alistair is my BAE. 🥰 I have a fully modded playthrough on my channel with my Mage OC, Kylara Amell if anyone is interested. 😉 I used a ton of mods to really flush out the whole romance between Alistair and Kylara... I also used the DAO Toolkit to personally remake and remodel a lot of NPCs to avoid the "clone effect". I just recently finished Kylara's modded DAA story as well. Next up will be Garrett Hawke's story. I will be modding DA2 and posting the videos on my channel starting in the next month hopefully.

I played the shit out of this game for years. With and without mods as male and female warden, almost every race (not dwarfs).
