  • Elon Musk got reality checked by an all-new company called Quantumscape. it's no secret Tesla has been at the top of the game when it comes to battery capacity and efficiency but however their all-new competitor turned Tesla's long-awaited cybercell into minced meat! because Quantumscape's new battery is more efficient, has a large capacity, and is also unparalleled in terms of practical usability. so how is this new company pulled off an amazing technology? and what are tesla and elonmusk planning to counter this battery technology?

It doesn’t exist. Every few months there is an announcement of “new battery technology.” If it existed we would see videos of at least a prototype placed in a car.

SSB is always just around the corner. Until I see them in mass production I remain a skeptic. However there are new battery innovations launched every week it seems so just because this isn't the THE battery right now doesn't mean it won't be 5 years from now. Different chemistries for different batteries... LFP, Sodium-Ion, Aluminum-Air are all still wanted and needed for different types of tasks and economic markets... Sometimes people are willing to sacrifice range for durability and thrift, I know I am...

Excellent, essentially in 10 years either hydrogen, ammonia, or solid state EVs will be mature and in the 2nd hand market. Will probably look at changing my luxury diesel mile eater around about then. Assuming anyone can still afford to drive in 10 years, hurhur ;)

Note This Video should be highlighted as an ad
ALL OF THE FEATURES SOUND THE BEST IN CLASS.
but I can't belive that one fixed it all at the same time.
Maybe this is the reason why no real numbers are said. All numbers I saw from QS are "estimates and model assumptions." So far away from any measurements done on protypes.
All solid state manufacturers struggle with the solid material that must be flexible to store the lithium ions.
Dailmler used 2021 already eCitaro with solid state batteries. These are already revoced because of broken batteries.
The 20 century as a concept was beause of a reason.
Solid State means a solid material. No company was able to combine the multiple layers in a way that the material doesn't brake.
Sure, I belive that Quantumscape solved the solid combination in Lab, but I don't believe that all attributes are solved at once.
Livetime due to degradation, mechanical livetime, charging speed (C-RATE???), volumetric and gravimetric density, temperature sensitivity, etc. and on the end the mass production capability.
Lets see when they come with someting other than estimate numbers.
Lets see once they come out with a product, but right now, it's the same "bla bla" I hear from all companies.

Gotta love when they try to sell these ideas with words of hope.
    “Bill gates saw the POTENTIAL”
“They announced that they were WORKING ON a revolutionary new battery type.”
“Solid states batteries have been THOUGHT OF as the FUTURE…”
    “They WOULD allow…”
    “We WILL BE ABLE TO…”
“… AND BE ABLE TO CREATE…”
Ok, I’m bored and couldn’t even get through half the video.
Reality is of this tech truly existed they’d have put a battery in a Tesla and would have videos showing us the lighter weight, the longer range, and the faster charge times. It’s all just hopes and dreams right now, and has been for a long time.

Tesla's latest million mile battery could outlive the.multi-generational nearby sources of supply it already has secured under contract, not to mention its multiple generations of families already registered as verified Tesla owners by founders, signature builders of record and maintenance histories.

Another day, another groundbreaking battery that's going to crush everyone, especially Tesla. It's all just hot air. These batteries always have issues, whether it's cost, weight, difficulty of manufacture, cycle life, or speed of charging. Most of all, most of these only exist in the lab or in nich manufacturing facilities. Tesla on the other hand, is massively ramping up its own batteries that are actually real.

The best storage system is a gas tank. It's cheaper safer and more efficient. It has a lower c02 footprint on both manufacture and operation over the much longer lifetime of a gas vehicle.

Toyota already has solid state batteries. Toyota also has hydrogen powered cars. Toyota does not have hedge funds trashing them to bankrupt them out of business.

@KlownDreamin Toyota has been talking about their advancements in solid state batteries since 2011 at the latest. Please be sure to let us know which decade they plan to emerge from the lab and actually make them available for consumption. Also their "hydrogen powered cars" are a dead end with annual production numbers in the low 4 digits.

Unless hydrogen vehicles have suddenly started working in cold temperatures, I don't see how Toyota or Honda (who were the first to hit that wall) would mass-produce something that only works year-round in the tropics.
