    About the water in the boat inspection, water on a boat/kayak from another lake spreads contamination (quagga muscles). But if you purchase your live minnow from bait/tackle shop with a receipt provided, it's assumed you got it from safe source of supplier without any contamination, you are good to go. But you're still at the mercy of the Inspector. I hope that makes sense.

    • @DieHardFishing
      @DieHardFishing  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That does make sense, thank you. I still don't know how they regulate that since I did not need to show any receipt or anything but I guess its mainly to prevent spread of water directly from other lakes. I presume it is impossible to have a perfect system but this should help.

      Eventually they will find their way into the canal system and SLR....it is inevitable.

      A local tackle shop, Coyote Bait and Tackle if you live in the area.

    Wow, you are able to car top your hobie outback on your Toyota Corolla with just the cross bars and no J-cradle or pads, impressive !!! I am getting my Yakima roof racks this Friday and hobie compass soon. I would love to go kayaking fishing with you, Matts and Ish one day. I know Matts well, I met Ish once and you are such a cool guy. Btw, I noticed you have a lot of poles, pole holders, fish finder, etc around your kayak; if you flip over isn’t it hard to get back into the kayak with all that stuff. Another great video !!!

      Congrats on the new kayak! I see many exciting fish catches in your future. It isn't too bad to hop in my kayak and I can always take off some of the rod holders if necessary. Hope to see you on the water some day!

      Yeah this was the least windy day of the month, lol. Been blown off that lake many times. Another good place we can hit up with Ish in his inflatable if the weather is right!

    What kinda hooks you using for those live minnows?

    • @DieHardFishing
      @DieHardFishing  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Small live bait hooks, I think like size 2 or 3.

    Nice catch, nice video. Liking the music man. How do those fish cook up? Ive always been curious. Ive only caught undersize from surf.

    • @DieHardFishing
      @DieHardFishing  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are a real mild fish. The fish from the ocean are a little tastier in my opinion but both cook up real nicely.

  • @vaajrambo2053

    Awesome Stripers... Yeah, some lakes that are strict on live minnows usually makes us drain the water out, and refill it with drinking water before launching... protect the lake from mussels I guess

    • @DieHardFishing
      @DieHardFishing  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats interesting, never had to do that. Makes sense to avoid spreading invasive species.

    Wasn’t the striped bass state record caught in that reservoir?

    • @DieHardFishing
      @DieHardFishing  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I believe so! They have some over 50 pounds in that lake. I think the record is around 60 if I remember correctly.

    • @markdebolt1919
      @markdebolt1919 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      okay so 20 lb leader? same size as regular line? mono or flouro?

    • @DieHardFishing
      @DieHardFishing  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah same as the main line. I used mono but flouro will work too!

    Do you typically rig livebait through the lips? Can never keep a bait alive long enough doing that

    • @DieHardFishing
      @DieHardFishing  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on the bait and the application. If you find your bait dying, try hooking closer to the front of the mouth. If you hook it too far back, you hit some vital organs and that will kill the bait faster.

    Great video you should wear a life vest though my friend I want to keep watching videos plus the game warden catches you pretty sure he will lecture you on having a life vest and may give you a ticket just letting you know it's really easy to forget and if something happened like some crazy man on a speedboat hits you wich I hope never happens the vest will keep your head above water other than that keep up the great videos I messaged fisherman's life and said you to need to partner up you would do crazy good I promise you that you guys would kill it with promotions and shit good job

    • @DieHardFishing
      @DieHardFishing  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and your comment. I did have a life vest on the kayak but was not wearing it. I agree it is safer to wear it rather than just have it in the boat. It was just too dang hot out there, lol. In the ocean I always wear it though.

      And yeah, hoping to get out with Fisherman's life soon! I am afraid he is going to leave me in the dust with his new zodiac but I'll see what I can do, haha

  • @J_Cache
    @J_Cache 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Those wardens can be strict. I had a little water in my kayak and they denied my inspection. He wouldn't even let me wipe it down. Waste of a trip.

    • @DieHardFishing
      @DieHardFishing  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah they can be pretty strict. I always double check everything in the morning before I go.
