- Test firing the engine requires hooking up the systems, power steering, transmission cooler, radiator and fill with antifreeze and hope it all stays in. Project mockingbird getting closer to test firing day and then getting the subframe reattached to the body.

Just want to say "THANK YOU" for filming the detailed build. Someone I worked with gave me a 67 Firebird completely restored, but it was just a shell. It was a rotisserie restoration, but it sat for a few years waiting to be put together. Engine and trans out of the car, no brake or fuel lines, no wiring harness, etc. He had purchased everything for the car so I didn't need to purchase a lot of pieces, HOWEVER, all of the bolts, brackets, clips, etc were in a suitcase LOL. Having no idea where things go, your videos have been like lego instructions for me, helping me identifying what brackets go where, where the lines run, fuel tank install pieces, etc. Keep up the great work, I still have a ways to go, but at least the car is already painted and ready to assemble. I've restored quite a few cars over the years, but never one that I didn't take apart, so finding all of the pieces and where they go have been the slow part. Your videos literally saved my butt on this one.
Very cool. Nice to know what the videos help accomplish and saving another bird is the best. Thank you for watching and appreciate the feedback as well.
I love how detailed you are, not a lot of youtubers like you! I'm loving these videos and whatever you decide to record either super boring or super cool, I'm going to watch!
Right on much appreciated, the details matter and really doesn’t add that much time either. Make a huge difference in final results. Thank you for watching and comments it helps me out 😎
Great stuff Jon! I wholeheartedly agree that it is much easier to work on/fix without the fenders, nose, etc. Would love to see an in depth how-to on putting together the nose components - front header, side bumpers, reinforcements, headlight mountings, fillers, bumper, etc. And then getting all of that to align and look decent. Thanks!
Definitely will be adding those to the video library, thanks.
Seconded on this. My 69' is not well aligned and it would be great to see the process!
Great vid about doing a specific part of the restore! Detailed enough for nubes, but also informative for old hands!
That is quite the compliment, glad to hear this helps newbies and seasoned builders I like the sound of that.
I know my old eyes miss a lot, but I didn't see the part number on the screen. I remember the 454 video. Good job.
I didn’t add it 🤦♂️. Sorry about that
Can’t wait to see how you align the sub frame to the body.
You will like it. Very low tech and easy to
The rubber radiator mounts on the drivers side allow the radiator to expand and contract as it is heated and cools, otherwise the radiator will develop cracks.
Make sense to me, I like that reasoning
That rubber nut is providing vibratiion dampening. I learned by my exposure they are called well nuts. Some antizeze might help the removability.
Well nuts are also used on the voltage regulator on 68 birds, might have to buy some in bulk if i keep building birds
Pretty neat. I've never seen a power steering cooler before, must be a Pontiac only thing.
I think it is. I know the first time I saw one I had no clue what it was for.
Im getting a big high off your Pontiac builds, Awesome work!😎
Fantastic! I do enjoy breathing some life back into these old Pontiacs
John you seem do very methodical work to me sir!! I like watching your vlogs on Pontiac Firebird John! Keep up the fantastic work!!👍🏽
Thanks, you got it! I will be test running the engine very soon.
You could mount the radiator on the support before installing it as well.
You do bring up a good point. Even the shroud could be installed. Thanks
Very nice job and good content and thanks 🔧👍
Thanks 👍 and welcome
Love your Channel. I am a Chevy guy but your videos are fun to watch.
Much appreciated! Thank you watching
That is a really nice kit and looks easy to install as well. I might even be able to install it. Great info on the radiator install as well.
This was the first steering cooler I have put on and will say quite simple and straight forward.
Great information on this video brother you are doing one heck of a job 👍
Much appreciated
Great video! Thanks
You're welcome!
Looking good!
Thanks! It’s ready for a test run and camshaft break in. Hopefully no issues
Great content as always love following along
Much appreciated
Love the videos, and that real 1 of 8 convertibles your talking about I was fortune to see it in person, was a barn find and was for sale at a swap meet in Canfield Ohio about 2010 ish for 28k man what a steal that would of been
If one of the 8! Truly a better deal than the 427 cobra I nearly bought in 84 for 27k! Jon does an amazing job of teaching and accomplishing! Part-time in his garage! Super Impressive!
28k i would have mortgaged the house for that! What an amazing find that would have been.
Porniacs just seem so complicated. Nice job as usual😊
Thank you! 😊
Really coming together Jon. Outstanding work as usual and all the little tips that make the job easier are most appriciated. BTW is that a quadrajet carburetor??
Yes it is a 1969 Firebird 400 quadrajet actually. Not a ram air carb but looks the same. I really like qudrajets on Pontiacs they have done the best for me over the years.
💪😎
Thanks!
👍
Thank You!
😛😛😋👍👍👍
🤣 thanks
I’m surprised the cooler runs on top of the rad! Seems like a great place to burn yourself. I’m not smart enough to look before I put my hand down. Lol
I remember the first time I saw one and had no clue want it was, I really can’t see it getting that much air flow to make a difference but it was how it was
