I found one of these in my grandparents old house about 5 years ago, I always just assume it didn't work, but I just didn't know how to use it. Thank you for posting this, It's really nice to watch all these old videos from when they were young :)
Aly - great to hear! I found this one online and gave it to my dad for all his movies. I also digitized all the reels , as you can see in my rudimentary setup.
If your picture is cut off at the top or bottom and a frame separation line is showing, rotate the framing knob until the full picture is on the screen.
There were a few dual gauge 8/16mm machines, but they weren't common. I think all of the ones I've seen were silent, and the 8mm was the old regular8, not Super-8. There were even triple gauge, 8/9.5/16mm machines, the Heurtier Supertri. There are also dual guage machines for 16/35mm and 35/70mm
NOt in the least helpful when you state HOW TO. Which way does the film go in, what about the loop bars, what happens when there is a jam, how to adjust, etc etc.
hello i have a bunch of those little one's the rinds that holds the film. i have a bell & howell 253 AR and i can't attach it to the metal part that moves the film wheel. and ideas on how i can do this? also the film is of my father that i have never met since he died when i was two. i have never seen him and it's on this 34 year old film..;< thanks you
@offwall that's awesome.... My grandparents have one of those I think, I heard about eatons from some old cartoon about "The sweater" I want a super 8 camera even though it wouldnt be too useful..
These projectors can be found very cheaply at flea markets and local antique dealers. I just bought a fully working B&H 346A for under $3.00. No kidding. And I found a beautiful fully working 1940's standard 8mm projector at a flea market for around $25. It's big and heavy but I love it. However I had to shop around and I bought a couple duds before I found the good ones. One unfortunate comment I heard from a dealer. He told me he's been throwing projectors in the trash because he can't sell them.
Your kitty is cute and pretty. I have 8 mm and a 16 mm projectors. I'm trying to see if they can play super 8 film. I tried to load it on my 8 mm but the wheel was too big for the holder, so I put it on my 16 mm, but I can't figure out how to use the auto load. I have heard that 8 mm and 16 mm can't play super 8 but then I also find information that says that mine can. Right now I'm trying to use Filmosound sound Bell and Howell Auto load projector.
Hello, I just purchased a similar model projector. Do you happen to know what exactly the frame knob on the side is used for? I can't seem to figure out what it does.
I know it's been a long time but better late that never. I just found this video as I just purchased a projector exactly like this one. The FRAME control adjusts the image projected on the screen. While watchin the projected image on the screen, if it seems to be a little high or low, or in other words, if the image on the screen shows part of another film frame because of a misalignment issue, use the FRAME knob to adjust it so that the movie only shows the frame it should. A little hard to describe in text but I hope that helps.
Hi Tyler, thanks for your video. I need to know where I can get a new rubber loading tire for my Super 8 B& H model 466A. Any recommendations? Also, can I load it manually? Help! Thanks!
Hi Tyler. I’m not sure if you still look at these responses since it been a while since you made this, I’m trying to make this B&H auto load to work and the large wheel does not spin. Is there a method I can trouble shoot this or is it needing a repair? Thanks!
Francisco torres I bought one for $25. It powers up and lamp works. I just ordered some movies last night off eBay. I thought it would play sound but you said it doesn't. how would I get sound for the movie? I might just have to sell mine and try to break even and buy one that does play sound
Francisco torres mine looks like it works fine. I have some films ordered and waiting for them to get here to test it fully. of anything I can part mine out to break even. I have the bell and Howell 456A with the bell and Howell 18mm-30mm f1.6 lens. I bought it and it was complete. is there a reasonable model I should look for. that plays sound? what is something that I could look for that will let me know it plays sound? I i ow there will be a speaker somewhere but is there a certain knob or something I could look for that will allow me to know that it plays sound? in going to go to some stores and look around to see if I can pick up another projector for a reasonable price. thanks
@FrankieT666 In the late 1960s B&H had a system called Filmosound 8 (the name deriving from B&H's famous line of 16 mm sound projectors), which used a dedicated camera, cassette recorder, and projector. The recorder was always used, connected to either the camera or the projector by dedicated cables. I don't think it lasted very long.
My grandpa left this and old war tapes thank you

wow thanks for making this. I just found one of these and couldn't make sense of how to load some old 8mm film i have.

THAT WAS EXCELLENT! Thanks for sharing your passion, well done.
That's just like the ones that I used to see when I was in grade school.
I love your. Cat
Ha! That was a great video. I'm just getting to know my Bell and Howell, so this video helped a lot. Thanks!
Bell and Howell should have made film machines that could both record and project
Thank You for posting this. Helped me a lot.
Hi What new bulb can you get to replace the old one
Unfortunately Eatons went out of business years ago. I assume these simply aren't made anymore. I was lucky enough to find this locally on Kijiji.
Thanks so much you saved the day!!
Is this the same company that made the taclight
@william campos This projector does not play sound. But the reels do not have sound on them either. Video only.
NOt in the least helpful when you state HOW TO. Which way does the film go in, what about the loop bars, what happens when there is a jam, how to adjust, etc etc.
I inherited one of these projectors. The take up reel does not automatically spin when the motor is turned on. Any suggestions?
Good stuff!
Thanks!

from the instruction on mine the back wheel go in front and yes i have the exact same one so any tips by any chance.. ?
You say "sold at Eatons" - are you implying they still sell them? If so can you post a link please because there are millions of Eatons on google.

Ya, got this one for $30! Works awesome. My dad was over the moon when I gave it to him.
Projectors, they practically give away, wait till you buy a projection bulb, that's where the cost is.

Thak you so much saved the day!
My film is wadding up right after it goes in. Do you know what might be causing this? Thanks
How do you roll movie. Is there a play button or switch?

E-bay, $5.00
What to do if I have to manual feel rear reel?

Hi Tammy! I’m sorry, I’m really not sure.
Does this work with both Super 8 and 8mm?
can you watch 16mm films on a dual 8mm super 8 projector?
I love you so much.
thanks
Not sure how much they're really worth, I bought mine on Kijjiji for $35 bucks!
@omacias4 Sorry, I wish I knew, but I'm not quite sure.
@BTBattlefronTV thanks
do the projectors play sound?
William Campos no

How much do these go for?
I got mine for $30 online. They range all over the place
Tyler, i live in South Africa and i have a DEKKO 118A 1947 projector.I want to sell it,are you interested?
No thanks!
iconic
Ah, okay, thanks.
It's, not called a wheel, it's called a reel !!
SOURCERY! WITCHCRAFT!!
You didn't show anything. Your hand was in the way and I don't even know which side the sprocket hole go. Useless video.
You should focus more on how to load it rather than having your cat in the film I'm surprised you have as many thumbs up as you do
Here's how this works: Make a better video yourself, or piss off.
Awwww... Your defending your daddy. So cute. You must have been the black sheep of the family because you are so pathetic. That is all.
Is that supposed to be a comeback? You might as well have typed the alphabet! lol
If wit was shit, you'd smell like roses.
