  • Our Grand Cherokee WK was making a knocking sound under the dash and only blowing heat. See me troubleshoot and replace defective part. The Heat/AC Blend Door Actuator.
    It turned out to be the plastic gear mechanism and not the Actuator that was bad so be sure and check the gear mechanism!

    At 15:30 he shows you the real part that was broken, he just didn't notice it. The old actuator in this video was fine but the coupler that the actuator gear goes into was broken. Again, don't buy the actuator before checking the coupler that is sitting on the blend door shaft. Push 1 white pin in gently as you pull on the coupler and it comes right out. That coupler was not sold separate by Jeep but a guy now makes them and they are beefier. Blenddoorrepair.com is where you can purchase it.

    Dam mechanic got my mother for $850 to replace those he said he had to take the entire dash out but now I see they didn't do that at all only popped the panel under the steering wheel. That explains why they called her after 1 hour said it was done. Someone asked me a few months ago if I knew an honest mechanic I told them I have never met one.

    Thank you for your vids, i own a jeep GC 05 3.7L. I wanted to change the thermostat but had no idea where the housing was until your vid. You do great with the camera and explaining everything. My ac blows cold on driver side vents but luke cold to warm on pass side. Could that be some kind of door not opening all the way. A mechanic said that system needed to be charged but why would it be ice cold on driver side and not passenger side? Back seat vent is also warm too. I also get an oil light, pic of an oil can, the round solid red light doesnt come on but oil can one will come on 50percent time. If i shut off jeep and restart light is off. But the last week, when i went to restart my RPMs went from 500 to 2000, sounding like it was goin to stahl. A little research i did said the sensor near the oil filter is whats causing that light to come on. Also in the last week my jeep has been runnin hot. Gauge goes to half way and fan kicks on, sometimes goes to 3/4 to hot then seems like thermostat opens and brings back to half way. But fan still kicks on. Im leaning towards getting rid of if its goin to have problem after problem. So please dont spend lots of time if u dont know the answers to my problems. But any feed back is appreciated. Started to look at 2015 Durango 3.6l. What kind of reviews have you heard about the Durango?

      Thank you John, that means a lot! I'm glad they help. Mine does the same thing, colder on the driver side and I did charge it to no avail. When I get some time again I will figure that out and post a video. As far as the other problems, is it giving you any codes? You can take it to an Autozone or another parts store and they will check codes for free. I'm betting the oil light is a sensor issue. A bad PCV or PCV hose can cause the idle to go crazy. Here is my video on that: th-cam.com/video/qVj8INH8NtY/w-d-xo.html
      As far as running Hot the first thing I would check is coolant level then thermostat (make sure it wasn't put in backwards check my video on that) Take it and have them check for any codes. I hope this helped and let me know how it goes. If you haven't already give us a follow & Subscribe. Thanks John!

      I dont think its a vacuum line. Only does the bouncing idle for about 10sec then runs normal.
      The temp problem. I did top off the coolant. Still runs hot. Thermostat will be my next easy fix to see if that helps. I have 154k miles. Ran like a top up until a week ago. Have a feel its goin to regularly have issues now. I read a lot of negative reports on the newer jeep GC. Specially 2012ish 3.6l engine. I really like the Dodge Durango. But the 1 i drove had 35k miles and drove rougher then my 05jeep. Dealer said its been sitting and need air in tires. Was a good amount of vibrations to the touch on the steering wheel. Like it tires need serious balancing and alignment. But once again. Thank you for your time.

    Great video man. My 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee is making a noise in the climate control. Or exactly right behind it. I seen one behind it. Like behind and beside it. And then there's one behind the glove box. And there's one under the steering column . But none of these are making noises. I only hear the noise in or behind the climate control. It's a ticking noise when I change stuff on the climate control . Like defrost or regular. What do you think? Does the climate control make a ticking noise before it goes out?

      It is probably the Blend Door Actuator not just the door.

    I liked the video but what was the SPECIFIC problem that u had? Was it a broken piece on the gear that make it keep spinning? Or was your actuator not performing right because of something else? From what I see your actuator still worked and still could spin fine... I think I even saw it stop like it is supposed to..

    • @OurSimpleAdventures
      @OurSimpleAdventures  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi yes you are right. The actuator turned out to be fine and yes I'm trying to find that gear that is broken. I'm having trouble finding it. I suppose I'll have to go to the Jeep dealer which I've been trying to avoid. I will post an addendum video when I go back in and actually fix the issue. Good call, I was waiting for someone to ask! • @kwarfieldjr
      @kwarfieldjr 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Our Simple Adventures yup .. I am. lol. smh I can't find that little shaft plastic piece that connects from the actuator to the blend door.. it doesn't come with a actuator. I went to buy a actuator just to see if the plastic piece came with it and it didn't, so there was no need to buy a actuator. there's a place I turn to when I can't find parts.... CRAZY RAYS! yup...next stop crazy Ray's.. can't go wrong because it's not an electrical piece ,it's just plastic so u can easily remove it from another vehicle just like yours and just swap out...well in THIS case it's a good idea and MUCH cheaper. I honestly couldn't even find the name of the plastic piece. Even auto stores didn't know and tried to get me to buy a bunch of useless parts..smh. But go find your exact vehicle at a salvage yard like crazy Ray's and take all u need from there. I'm going tomorrow morning. Good luck.

    • @kwarfieldjr
      @kwarfieldjr 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Our Simple Adventures let's not let these dealers overcharge us.. Salvage yards is the way to go.. especially for that specific small non electrical piece.. it will probably only cost 2 dollars...I'll also post back when I go to the yard and get the piece. I don't know how to load videos on TH-cam but maybe I'll start one day

    • @OurSimpleAdventures
      @OurSimpleAdventures  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So that gear looking piece that is broken on mine just slides off the shaft? I was worried that it is permanently attached to the blend door itself and I would have to tear the dash a part to get to it. I haven't had time to get back in there since. Thankfully it's winter so I don't mind the constant heat on too much.
