Same to me, maybe the APi channel is my favorite , prefer the preamp even more than the neve one, but, top 5 it will be sound city , its not only room and chamber, the Dolby A FX section is f.great. h.mention to LA3A, Manley eq is great
1176 COLLECTION, SSL E channel strip (I like to use on vocals before the 1176 wit fast attack dynamics and dynamic eq to taming dees the signal subtly, before the 1176 etc) TRIDENT EQ (I like it after ssl eq; sometimes ill start off with 1 ssl e channel strip that only does dynamic eq then follow it with another ssl e channel strip just for eq, but then the trident after that s great for the high end I like it!) Elysis ALPHA compressor (I use it on busses) KORG delay (I love this thing on vocals automated delay controls!) Plate .
Id like 10 essential picks but it's only 5!
API 2500 does the trick on drums everytime for any genre

The API vsion channel strip specially with unision gives you everything you need for vocals, just add the reverb and you have a great setup.
You really can’t go wrong with UAD and I love your top 5 must haves. My top 5 that I have to have are: DBX 160, Avalon 737, Fairchild, Studer A800, Pure Plate Reverb. These are always in my vocal templates.

that gets me 3 distinct spaces, a never sound bad eq, and a killer comp. I love the anniversary 1176 in 2:1 mode running the threshold really low so it digs in deep. That plus the modifies slow attack is such a great sound for certain buses

Nice demo. So you put the Pultec eq after compressor?
Do you also add corrective eq before compression? Isn’t that a pretty common method?
I just use fabfilter c2 for compression or a transient designer or saturn for tape. the differences of the uad tape are too subtile, i don't think you need that. i use the 1073, it has character, i use the pultec and the 1176, la2a, but in the end its all about saturation to add harmonics and about different compression, and i think you don't need tons of channelstrips or compressors just for a veeery subtile change of sound,. its difficult to hear a difference.

My go to UAD plugins are their keyboard Virtual instrument, Their organ virtual instrument, their Pultec EQ, their MoTown reverb and their Studder A800 tape ( I prefer that over their Ampex 102 tape)

My secret weapon is the neve 2254, but I prefer the lindell 80 cause I have it included in a channelstrip.
Matty. Just got the pure plate. .
Now if the wet solo is ON ..there is a wash of reverb on my vocals. ... even if ii turn down the decay n reverb time. can't get around this. ? .
I then turn ithe wet solo off. And i can work on it. ..

To me the Arturia Rev Plate 140 sounds eerily similar to the Pure Plate, is it just me?
The 1176 AE is sonicially more similar to the api 2500 style, where it allows the upper midrange to pass through seemingly unobstructed. Its very "Clear"

Yeah man 5 is tough to limit down. I’m gonna go with the most bang for your buck cause I feel softube or PA is a better option on channels and I got the seventh heaven on sale that covers most verbs UA has besides digital better deal. I got 76 and Ampex also good call. Gonna go with Rock City studios on drums and guitars or even vox I run it on an aux to blend not reverb but the replication sounds fucking amazing.
The Softube guitar amp because softube way too cpu heavy. Sick on distortion and presence . And go c Vox 5th.
