@@ThePedalGuy Hello. Because of my age I don't trust my hearing anymore. At what distance from the guitar should I keep the tape recorder? I also have an AKG 1000 microphone, if I insert it into the TASCAM will the quality be better?
I have a dslr with no mic jack. So I bought the Tascam DR-05x to record externally. I found a company called Movo that has a shock mount that came with a cold shoe and adapter for a camera & tripod. I use the shock mount with the camera and on the table if using my computer with a Manfrotto tripod. . I do have a 128gig card for storage. I have an iPhone 7, that came with a 3.5mm to lightning. So I also have a lav mic which can be used with the Tascam. It’s a great unit. Lots of options for recording, and external connection options.the menu is really easy once you begin using it.
I'm not quite understanding the question. There are two output methods, analog/line Out and USB. If you're using the analog out as I did in this video, you should be able to adjust the output volume with the data selector on the top of the DR05X.
Thanks for the review it was very helpful. I have just purchased one of these to record vocals and was wondering what would you say is best settings in effects? For example Hall, Studio, etc and would you set it to Input or Monitor? Thanks.
Personally I love hall type reverbs on vocals, but it's a little powerful so easy does it. If you're going to record into a DAW via USB, I would monitor rather than record the effect onto the DAW.
Question; When you push the reverse button to hear the track you just recorded does it have to always go back to the beginning of that track or can you control how far back in the track you want to listen to?
This tutorial is very well done -- but I wish there was a way to begin/pause recording from a distance -- with a wired remote switch you can use to begin and pause recording -- while you are 10 feet away from the recorder.
Thank you for these very useful tips. If I have to change the batteries will I need to reprogram the new settings again? Also what is the stand you are using and where did you get it? Thanks
Do you have any suggestion about owering the recorder. For example.. If I already have the alkaline batteries inside and I connect the power bank via USB connector, which power source the recorder will be using? And when it finishes that power source, will systematically jumps on the other available? Thank you very much for your suporr! Matej
Hi, it's COVID season. I still use my old DR-05--screaming quality for the price--but may want a replacement. Is there a wireless version of this that will work for live TH-cam recording? I'm guessing "no".
Does your DR-05X have any white noise when recording silence? Any white noise on the line out when the unit is on and has earbuds plugged in? My unit has these issues and was wondering if others have it too, maybe it's normal, idk.
Great Video, one Question: When you record the stereo line Signal(from the 2 mics) from the tascam to your Interface and Daw with cables, is it as good Quality as if you record it to the sd card and put it then into your daw??!! Sry for my english
Thanks for the question and I'm glad you liked the video. I'm trying to introduce technology into the vids going forward as it plays a crucial part in the creative process. I haven't used the DR-05X as an audio IO quite yet. Truth be told, I picked up my inventory yesterday, sat down with the DR-05X, and shot the video 2 hours later, so I haven't gotten around to that yet. I will cover it for sure. I think you're already subscribed to the channel but if not, please sub so you can be notified when I release that vid.
@@ThePedalGuy Thx for the detailed reply. The Tascam used as a second mic with my audio Interface would be great when paired with a large condenser mic for a acoustic i think....of course i subscribed Greetings from Austria;)
I think what you got is this task amp thing I think it's cost I think it's well worth the $79.99 that you're asking for it I'm gonna get one myself I'm sure I'll be pleased with a record myself playing the drums you know
When trying to record voice at 1 foot distance using the built-in microphones, I need to set input level at around 70 to keep levels at -12db. Is this normal with Tascam DR-05x? In the same situation, with input level at 50, levels move around -30db. I don't know if mine works well.
why does it say its a two-line recorder? There is only one line in. I'm trying to record from a device that has a speaker output into this device, will this mic input also act as line-in input?
What the Hell is the deal with your headshot video ? Is it one of those 1970's Vaseline lens effects ? Or are you using a VGA Webcam ? At least the audio was good ! ;-/
The second you played the first chord this thing went into my shopping cart on amazon
Very kind of you
I'm blown away by how lush and sweet the guitar sounds. I'm sold
Cool

Quality of your guitar playing sounds so nice!! Thank you.

Have you got a tutorial on recording singing please through tascam via mixer

@@ThePedalGuy Sorry just seen this thanks a lot for the reply and advice it's much appreciated👍🏻
Perfect tutorial ! Thxs ☺️👍🏻

Thanks for the review - what kind of tripod are you using there? It was difficult to see on the video how it was actually set up.
It was a pretty standard little off the shelf tripod

What settings should I set my TASCAM DR-05X to record outside nature sounds ?

Good point. Some recorders do have a remote option but most times it’s a wired remote which can be just as disappointing.
Just record and edit out what you don't want.... Record it all ... sort and edit it later. That's what I've learned.
any experience using this for an electric guitar on the inputs? or as an audio interface for an electric guitar specifically?
I messed around with using it as an audio io. Worked pretty well.
@@ThePedalGuy thanks!
Thank you for these very useful tips. If I have to change the batteries will I need to reprogram the new settings again? Also what is the stand you are using and where did you get it? Thanks
As far as I know, it should remember your settings. The stand was a pretty generic small form tripod that you can pick up on Amazon.
Any info on overwrite and punch in function??
What about overright and punch in ? Can i overdub or ping pong? Thanx!🪜

When I start recording with my Tascam DR-7X, it's recorded for only 7sec.,
Why is it so?
Thank you for your time.
Do you have the memory card installed and formatted?
Can I take a line out from the mic input and put it in the headphone jack from the soundboard and direct record?
Hi, it's COVID season. I still use my old DR-05--screaming quality for the price--but may want a replacement. Is there a wireless version of this that will work for live TH-cam recording? I'm guessing "no".
Not that I'm aware of.
Are you using a direct line in to the tascam?
For the guitar? No that was the mics.
Does your DR-05X have any white noise when recording silence? Any white noise on the line out when the unit is on and has earbuds plugged in? My unit has these issues and was wondering if others have it too, maybe it's normal, idk.
I don't recall any white noise issues on my end.

dumb question- what does the tuner function do? I play violin.
It's a chromatic tuner so it should work fine on your violin.

I'll have to look into that.
How do you get rid of beep between recordings during playback
Not sure. Have you reached out to tascam
Having trouble accessing. Files and losing them. No info.in. the manuel
Have you reformatted the card? Have you contacted tascam?
When I press record twice, it starts recording. But if I stop talking for few seconds, it stops recording! Why is that? How do I keep it recording?
Está grabando desde la salida de auriculares??? Porque???
That's how I captured the audio for the video.
What's the difference between the dr 05 and the Dr 05X ?
Not sure
Hi can you sing using this setup
Yes absolutely
is recording with 24bit 96 khz possible? can i record and monitor it with headphones at the same time?
How do you delete files?
There’s a delete option in the menu directory I believe.
@@ThePedalGuy Thanks mate
Small point but it would of been better to make the whole review using the Tascam.
Thanks for the feedback
Is there a speaker on the devise?
yes
Thank you how do I get it work ? I can hear with headphones
@@rondandodge8027 check the settings on it.
Sorry can I get an external speaker for it . My 85 year old dad wants to record his guitar playing?
@@rondandodge8027 sure. Just get a passive speaker that plugs into the headphone jack

It is a TRS Stereo input, so that should work.
How big of a memory card will it take? Great video for a cave man ;>)
Supports up to 128gb depending on the brand of sd memory
i have same tascam but record only 5 sec and stop

No line input.. Next!
Ok
Yeah. Too bad that IT picks up a lot of interference.
So, zero power. Unfortunately.
Cheap sound.
Ok
