- After returning from his 3-year coma, Archer is no longer the Alpha at work. Instead, the usually uncertain Cyril Figgis has become a real alpha. Archer is not happy with this, and at one point he works out a hilarious plan to sabotage Cyril
The reveal at the end of the season was so worth it. Archer didn’t bring out the worst in people, he is who he is which allows others to be who they are….for better or worse.
I dunno. That kinda felt like a cop out to me. Like with Cyril and Lana, Archer was actively trying to screw with their lives and then they spiraled downward on their own. It just came off to me as "we are goibg to set up these new struggles for Archer, but then revert them to status quo afterwards. " i know that isn't accurate and is reductive but that is kinda how the whole him being disabled and losing his niche as top dog came off to me. Just him whining about the problems until he Archers them away
@@bluecanine3374 but see that’s the issue though, really growing and maturing would mean being able to be above the whining and complaining but none of them are because his bellyaching means they can use him as a scape goat to revert to their old ways because no matter how bad they are, archer will always appear worse.

While I agree for Cyril, Archer doesn't really goad the others on, in fact, they were all kind of avoiding him for a while when he got back and then just slipped back into their old ways which they clearly liked more than the new versions, it was just easy to pretend like Archer was the problem

Idk I think the series shows through flashbacks and stuff that they always had these problems even before meeting Archer, I mean Cherly was a psycho since childhood, Lana's insecurities came from her upbringing and Cyril is a loser

Cyril's problem is that he knows he works in a stressful environment and that dealing with Archer has never gone pleasantly for him. He should have quit working for the Agency, found work in a less stressful career, and gotten psychological help.
They touched on that during the Archer Vice season. Cyril said working anywhere else would be too boring. He likes the excitement and everything that comes with it.
@@memyselfi9576 not to mention, after everything they’ve done under Mallory’s employ, they’re basically all FELONS who probably can’t get work anywhere else. They couldn’t even sell coke in Archer Vice🤦🏾♂️.

Cyril didn't wanna be an agent and only did it because he had no choice. He even said he doesn't wanna be an agent and is comfortable with his accounting job.

That was BULLSHIT and disrespectful AF to Lana, who was said to be the best agent at ISIS and that wasn't self proclaimed. Literally anyone else would have been a better choice the Cyril Figgis. He made Stormtroopers look like marksmen.
I found Cyril the embodiment of pretending to be competent and good. Archer doesn't pretend he is there with his flaws and all.

I honestly don’t believe Cyril wanted to be a team leader. It just seemed more like it was forced on him. When you have to keep forcing people to accept you as leader, it just makes you less convincing. Cyril’s always been the type that hates confrontation and would rather work from the sidelines. But once Archer was in a coma, he probably felt he had to change in order for the agency to survive. If he really wanted to be a leader, he could’ve just challenged Archer to a fight for supremacy. Archer was fresh out of a coma, walking on a cane, and unable to fight at full capacity. If Cyril fought him, he would’ve won. I think having him back allowed Cyril to return to who he was comfortable being by using Archer as a scapegoat for his cowardice.
He tried to be the bigger man but was wasted as that is not how you deal with archer
It doesn’t take much for everyone to agree with Archer.

@@Brehbei Honestly wish his disability was a more focal point in the show. would've been interesting to see him deal with an obstacle instead of it just going away and it only limiting him like 3 times in the season.
and by deal with i mean go into the emotional weight and frustration one has to overcome when faced with a disability. And also the Cyril and mostly everyone didnt go back to status quo

I'm bummed they reverted him. It would have made more sense for Lana to take over isis and Cyril to effectively take over her position as the straight man for Archer

Well maybe now they'll do that. Since at the end of season 13 Lana became the new boss of ISIS, Cyril could go back to being a ripped alpha agent & become the new straight man for Archer. Plus they could give him a girlfriend who actually likes & respect him.

Archer in his full power could destroy Alpha Cyril. And if Cyril beat a weakened recently post coma Archer it would just look kinda cowardly and not really compatible with Cyril's personality.

Treat it as this. Everything from season 1 or archer is kinda soft retconnect as Cherly was turned crazy by kreiger giving her acid since they dated till len had his mind surgery then she kept taking it. It isn't till season 2 everyone gets a defined personality and it isn't till season 3 we get them at their peak of what terrible people they can be. Expect Ray he raped Cyril along with Pam so like 50 50. Then in season 4 and 5 we get the evolution and taming of their personalities and then on wards including the coma seasons they become stereotypes of there personalities and then now it's a the soft reboot of their personalities. Even tho all of them had shown evidence of them changing in there own ways while working at the figgis agency before archer choose to fall for the honeypot. How tf can you be the best spy and fall for the honeypot that the writers clearly show even Veronica was manipulated.

I actually thought this was a total misstep in the series… It would’ve been way better if they became actual rivals and Cyril was worthy of the rivalry.
I hated Archer this whole season because of how effortlessly it was for him to knock Cyril down from the place he worked so hard to get to. Like it royally pissed me off that Archer essentially inserted himself into a world that was basically over him at that point and proceeded to re-inject his antics into every aspect of everyone else's life without a single care for the well being of who he's around, all just to prove he's always been the best.
Don’t you think Cyril could’ve just stood his ground against Archer? I mean, they’ve been at each other’s throats since day 1.
Archer has always been like that can’t handle change or accept people don’t really need him and can live happy lives without him and tries to make things a way that make him happy
For once he was happy with his life……then Archer woke up
This episode and one after this one I think, was somewhat depressing but interesting. Like Archer coming back to work reverted everyone to what they truly are deep.down inside. And all the pretending like some of us pretend to be in control at work was over. I could be wrong. But like I said, Archer doesn't necessarily bring the worst out of everybody, but what they are supressing deep down. You are either good or bad and / or you better from it or not.
