- Visiting Yosemite during a Pandemic and Wildfires made for an interesting experience in our van. We found out last minute Yosemite reservations are required and when we visited in mid August we didn't plan for wildfire smoke!
We are devastated now to see that Yosemite is closed due to air quality and a portion of the ad revenue generated on this video will be donated to assist in wildfire relief.
Hopefully this video can serve as a Yosemite Travel Guide for your upcoming trip to Yosemite National Park after the wildfires and with the coronavirus restrictions.

Sgt.Pepper got really good on the paddleboard as you went along. It's wonderful you take her with you. The great part when you do hike with a backpack in Yosemite is that after 10 minutes up the trail you lose all the humans & are alone for days in the Mountains. No matter how you go to Yosemite it is such a place of Beauty and Nature! Thanks to the 3 of you for a wonderful trip!
As someone who lives next to Yosemite and has been evacuated, thanks for recognizing that the smoke put a damper on your Yosemite experience, but others have it much worse. A lot of my community works in the tourist industry and have been having to hear a lot of people complain about how their vacation was ruined while they themselves lost homes or are currently evacuated.

We were there in February. 24 degrees F with crystal clear skies and few tourists. Years ago we did the 9-hour mule ride to Glacier Pt. Breathtakingly beautiful going up; absolutely terrifying going down. We love Yosemite.
Wish you could have seen the park on a crystal clear day however, your amazement when you saw half dome actually brought tears to my eyes. I have seen that expression many times Thanks for the donations. So much loss this year. Record breaking fires...

Visited Yosemite in Dec 1987 and it was almost empty of tourists. No wildfires and no snow blocking roads. Very nice time to visit. We didn't have any reservations for accommodations and my mother was worried about that. We stayed in the cabins in the village in the valley and it was no problem.
I actually live and work in Yosemite National Park. 🤗🏞 I live in Yosemite Valley. I'm going on 5 years now. So this is my backyard, and I get to experience it everyday. I really enjoyed your video and your true raw excitement, being here for a while sometimes you take it for granted. Thank you guys for being so respectable to our park. I loved how you vlogged and got video content. Some Vloggers come here and fly drones *which is illegal 🚫 and they don't respect the park and it's beauty. It's all about getting that "great photp op" or "good content" this was one of the best Vlogs I've seen. Come back when the wildfires are gone you will not regret it! it's a truly different experience. ❤
PS: Loved the "hydroflask waterfall scene" 😂 March, April, and May are the best times to come and see the waterfalls actually falling lol. Next time check out Vernal and Nevada falls hike its called the mist trail that's in yosemite valley.🤗

I was in Yosemite just 10 days ago. I did a backpacking trip from the Bishop area into Yosemite along the John Muir Trail. The Creek Fire broke out the day I started my hike and my visibility in Yosemite was even worse than yours when I finally made it there. It really was a bummer, especially because it was my first time there. I do understand your disappointment, but also you feeling like you have to explain that you don't forget about the actual impact of those fires. I felt the same way, every time I mentioned that "my hike was ruined".
Glad you were able to enjoy the park despite our horrific wildfire season this year. Just one thing though in case you had not checked you are prohibited from camping in your vehicle unless you are parked in an actual campsite (i.e. upper pines, lower pines campgrounds). The parking lot at Curry Village (where you had your tent cabin) is not a campsite. Just an FYI in case any of your viewers might want to try the same. Our favorite time to visit the park in in winter. It's amazing and I suggest a visit then if you can.
My wife is planning a trip there with her mom next month. This was SO helpful and super fun. Been there many times, it was a total delight to watch your vid and “go” with you. Thank you!

Yosemite was the last stop on my month-long National Park camping trip but didn’t end up happening due to the fires closing the park (Sept 10-14). So glad you posted this video so I can still experience the views! The blue packing cubes were so useful on my trip! 💜

This was great. We actually arrived in Yosemite about 3 days after you did and it was relatively clear. We waffled about going because of the fires, but as you noted, it got progressively worse after our days there so we are grateful for the time. VERY glad you went up the 120. Tioga Rd was one of our favorite days in the park. I think your itinerary was perfect with or without poochie for just a few days. I think people rush to check boxes and down linger to enjoy...

I worked at Camp Curry back in '78. I could write a short book about all the adventures I had there. I did maintenance on those tent cabins and had various other duties. Hasn't changed much in 42 years...except for the price for a tent cabin...160 bucks a night! You have got to be kidding me!

I went to Yosemite in July. Was there on the 4th. Such a great time to go do to Covid. Hardly any people. Especially in the morning!!! Probably not so great when there's a lot more people. Yosemite was gorgeous. Thanks for sharing your video. Made me feel like I was there again.

Started watching this video, made it 3 minutes in, panicked that I didn’t have a reservation and am going to Yosemite on august 13th, panicked booked an available campsite, refreshed the day passes for a half hour, one opened up on the 13th, booked it, cancelled the campsite, now 2 hours later I’m here to watch the rest of the video. FYI, there ARE outlets in the tent cabins that have heaters in them. Also, sleeping overnight in your vehicle can get you banned from the park as well as fined. Lol

Great video as always. It's so difficult to capture the magic of Yosemite. Still my favorite place on earth. You guys HAVE to visit in late spring. Very few visitors, plenty of campsites, and the waterfalls are insane. I "accidentally" stayed 18 days in the valley in 2018 lol

Just came back from the Yosemite and unfortunately we weren’t able to see much cuz of the smoke ...it is such a tragedy to see this corner of paradise engulfed in such devastation from the fires....even though the park was still open I would not recommend to go until all this gets cleared ...I was waiting for quite along time to come and visit and planned for the trip way ahead of time to be so unlucky witnessing all this tragedy ....kudos to the firefighters and to all the park members/volunteers for doing mega efforts to contain all this situation and making it safe for everyone
Wow.. THANK YOU so much for posting this video of Yosemite.. I was lucky enough to visit Yosemite with my new wife on our honeymoon 6 years ago, and I really hope to visit again some day, who knows when. You visited many places we visited, and showed views I don’t think I’ll ever forget.. but was so nice to see them again.. I still can’t believe those views from Glacier Point.. I have a photo of me standing looking out across the distance.. luckily smoke free, and it’s hard believe that view exists even though I was there.
Those cabins are crazy.. I think the camper van was a better option 😂

At Yosemite falls normally you get soaked just standing by the platform. You hit a really dry year. Even bridal veil falls which is usually super full and you have to use rain gear to get close. Not this year. The stelars jays are so cheeky. Very used to humans and adept at stealing food. The woodpeckers are everywhere. Yosemite is magical, in any season. Tuoloumne meadows is fantastic. So is Olmsted point. At least the Merced and tuolumne rivers are full.

Have visited Yosemite since I was a kid. Season pass holder and lived 2 hours away. Miss that place since I escaped CA. The waterfalls were depressing to see dry. My favorite time to visit is winter.
How lucky to live so close! It would be such a neat perspective now to visit at a different time of year after this unique trip

Welcome to California. The falls in Yosimite are usually running during the spring time they are snow melt waters. You were lucky to have the place so quiet and open. I have never been so lucky. Lol. I am glad you are enjoying yourselves. 😄

The Valley on most days can be a little hazy. It is really only blue skies after some rain or in the cooler months.
I love Yosemite! I got married there this past August, it’s such a beautiful place and visiting it during the pandemic was honestly a great time, hikes that were normally packed were soooo empty!

Tunnel view is breath taking if it was not smokey and when the falls are full. I wish u guys were able to visit between late May and early aAugust. You must do yosemite again i tell ya. Miss watching your videos Tim and Fin! The first segment where Finn was scaling the rock was quite hilarious. Sucks that you guys didn't get to see Lower Yosemite Falls with actual water. The view at Sentinel Dome is absolutely stunning. Highly recommend going back there during the mid summer
