      Sadly no. He was bending the rules, having outbursts, and almost got another competitor killed.
      That said, I think WSM should have accounted for his aggressive style and accommodated that.

    Eddie Hall in 2017 would have to be my pick as strongest ever. Granted, he's only a 1x winner, but in that year, especially with the static lifting events, he was the strongest ever, by a decent margin. Had the feeling he could have blasted any lifting world record he wanted at that point. At least that's my opinion, for what it's worth.

      Strength is extremely specific, that much deadlift training would mean Eddie was doing less of other stuff so he couldnt be the best at everything. If you dont put the time in the strength in that lift vanishes very quickly. I would also rate Benni's raw deadlift record as at least as highly as Eddie's 500 suited with straps. Benni found the lift dead easy, it shot straight up and he held onto it. Eddie nearly died, had a heart attack and went blind all at once because he found it so hard. He was also at a size where even walking up a flight of stairs was unbearable, so he would have found some strength feats like "power stairs" that used to be in WSM almost impossible.

      @jackson676 5 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Gore4ever FulciLives You can’t really say that. In 2015, Thor beat the 1000 year old record of over 640kg (more or less I cannot remember) log carried on his back for 5 baby steps. No one dared even to try that up until now.... Thor’s keg toss is unbeaten and he’s also the Elephant Bar World Record Deadlift at the Arnold’s which eddie admits is somehow harder cause it’s wiggle eddie himself said that when he hosted the show. Eddie is better than Thor in regular deadlift and probably in some other things too... they kinda have specialties... strength is very very relatives

    • @traininggrounds9450
      @traininggrounds9450 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Yeah but that doesn't make him the greatest. Sustained strength is greater than a spit fire. If you don't agree, then I'll just fight a war with you for 2 years instead of 1 and win every time. It's the tortoise vs the hare and the tortoise wins every time.

    • @yesno9834

      Please highlight where I said he was the “greatest”?
      Without going all mindlessly philosophical on the subject, in terms of static strength (pure all round strength), toss another name in the hat that rivalled Eddie’s in 2017.

    • @traininggrounds9450
      @traininggrounds9450 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@yesno9834 Spit fire. If he held his title for more than 1 year then maybe he is worth mentioning. Manny Pacquiao is great for that reason. Worlds Strongest Man is a title that should stretch beyond "current champion". So when people talk about "Eddie Hall was the world's strongest man for 2 seconds in 2017" then I have to give perspective on that. I don't care that you said, "Eddie Hall 2017". That is the problem. It might be accurate but that is the problem.

    • @yesno9834
      @yesno9834 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Training Grounds
      Again I never claimed he is the greatest, I’ve stated at his peak in 2017 you could argue he was the overall strongest. It’s not just the WSM title he gained in 2017, you’ve got to take into account his Axel Press world record he set and also the deadlift world record he set, which are still currently records that don’t look to be beat any time soon. The deadlift is widely agreed on as being the main feat of pure strength, being able to lift a weight from Point A to Point B off the floor - he holds the record of a massive 500kg!
      Like I said, feel free to throw a name out who you think was stronger than Eddie Hall in 2017.

    • @traininggrounds9450
      @traininggrounds9450 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@yesno9834 Again that's the caveat every time - 2017, 2017, 2017. Not even Eddie Hall could beat Eddie Hall from 2017 and THAT'S the problem. Eddie Hall is a HAS BEEN. He's DONE. It's like saying Bobby Fischer is the greatest chess player because he spiked up higher than everyone else ever has but Kasparov held his claim to fame from 1986 until his retirement in 2005, Kasparov was ranked world No. 1 for 225 out of 228 months. Now what? Eddie Hall is the Bobby Fischer of Strong Man. Great numbers but NOT a great Strong Man and YOUR comment is about focusing on 2017 in order to make him great! So I'm countering you on that. Yes Eddie Hall 2017 was the greatest and guess what?! It's GONE. He's NOT a Strong Man anymore. He's DONE. And once those records he did gets beaten I hope so do these stupid comments of people trying to make him greater than he really is.

So many of the other strongmen don't feel that he fully earned those 5 titles. He was definitely great. He'll always be a favorite of mine. I'm just explaining why he doesn't get the recognition that many people think he should get. Regardless, he's still one of the best ever in my book.

Prime Eddie Hall 2016-2017 still lost to Thor in ESM and won WSM by 1 point (Let's not talk about the controversyl) So no, Eddie Hall is not the strongest, at one point or for a period of time. Big Z takes this one when we're talking about longevity and Thor when talking about a moment. Mid 2020 Thor is arguably the strongest man to ever live because he constantly won ASC for the past few years and then he peaked at mid 2020 which would put him above his previous self. So, Prime Thor is the strongest
