Some strongmen I enjoy watching for their personality and some I enjoy for their intensity. Bill is definitely the latter. Legend. The only man banned from WSM for being too strong.
@Ignacio Peñafiel Urzúa he also completely walked over the rest of the competitors, the only one who was close was Geoff Capes in 81 with 88 points compared to Bill at 96. WSM at the time thought it wasn't fair if Bill was there to compete because he was just to damn dominant.
Fun fact: In the clip at 4:02 The weight on the bar was nearly 500kg. And the bar was a freaking SQUARE. The mad lad stood there and held it forever. And they STILL didn't give him the lift. 😡😤
If he was allowed to compete in worlds strongest mans whilst he was dominating the sport they wouldve all still been trying to beat his 6 or 7 wsm titles. 💪🏼😎
True and the 4 5 6 and 7th woulda been a hell of a showing because capes got bigger and Jon Paul and even Mcgee and the events were changing too. Would have been an amazing competition
If he would have had the same tools at his disposal that modern strongmen do such as proper strict diet and training regimens, knowledge of all the physio and recovery methods and all the enhancements of modern athletes, god only knows what limits Kaz would have been pushed to given such aid. He was benching 300kg with pure brute strength decades before what our current understanding of sports science and nutrition is today. Not only would he more than likely be a 5x plus wsm champion if he wasn’t banned, if he had the same availability of resources that Brian Shaw and Hafthor had a 400 plus lb modernized Kaz would no question be benching almost 800 raw.
Don’t get me wrong modern strongman is amazing and the contestants are incredible to watch, but having a competitor that is Kaz level crazy makes everything so much more fun

Back in the early eighties Kaz owned a gym in Auburn, AL and one day I walked in while he was checking memberships at the front desk. He got out his list and asked me my name. My last name being somewhat uncommon, he asked me to spell it. Being a somewhat autonomic smartass I replied by spelling out my first name " E - D - ...". I immediately saw him smile and then look up at me with a "I could crush your head with my thumb and forefinger" kind of look. I blurted out the letters of my last name, shakily wrote out my check and proceeded to go to the furthest corner of the gym to slap myself for acting like such a jagoff.

Deliberately slowing that 2nd deadlift was such a fucking alpha move
and a great reply to an absurd rule. Who the fuck cares what you do with the bar after you lift it.

Alpha as Fuck!
Or baby move. He basically threw a temper tantrum because the judges called him on the rules
