    Nice review man.I'm a sportbike kind of guy but I like the new Harley lineup. I'm definitely considering a Low Rider S. Perfect bike! I live in Cali as well..so, I know we have limited options as far as exhausts. I did see that Two Brother will give you a better performance hp/torque wise but S&A is solid!! great looking and sound wise as well. How tall are you? I'm 5'10 ..when I sat on it I felt a little cramped. I heard from Blockhead that the regular sit of the Low Rider will push you back about 2 inches and makes the riding position a lot better. How do you feel about it as far as comfort-wise? I'm thinking of forward controls since we have a lot of freeway riding here in Cali? Nice review~ ! I love it!

    • @furnimaker
      @furnimaker  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Remus! I think the bike is pretty comfortable for me, I'm shorter than you though(5'7"). I think a lot of people find the forward foot position comfortable, and for this bike it probably would make you feel less cramped.

    • @furnimaker

      Thanks man! It's the power cam, but the torque has improved a lot over the stock motor, probably the extra displacement helps with that. Yeah, definitely feel it really come on north of 3500, but there is also a lot of low end grunt too.

    Bad ass bike, congratulations!
    I'm in the bay area too and thinking about buying the 2021 low rider s. My only concern in the lean angle and scraping, I ride a 2015 bmw r1200rt and never scrape anything even when riding super aggressive in the mountains. I rode up and over Mt. Hamilton yesterday and didn't scrape even with extreme lean angles. Anyways I have two questions:
    How would the Lowrider s do on a road like 130 going over Mt. Hamilton, and how much did the dealership charge you to install the 117 kit?
    Thanks for your time, cheers!

    • @furnimaker
      @furnimaker  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mount Hamilton is a great ride! The Low Rider S is not really great in hairpins, the decent down Mount Hamilton after the Lick Observatory is not really ideal for this bike. 130 on the way up would be fine though. You can't lean the bike over all that far before scraping the pegs, which coming from sportier bikes, I wasn't really used to, but since changing the exhaust the pegs are the only things that scrape. I think a little more ground clearance with an upgraded rear shock would go a long way. Just responded to your other comment, can't remember the exact installation cost, but call Oakland HD and ask them, they are pretty helpful over there👍

    I don’t understand that lane splitting or whatever it is you guys do? What happens when someone opens their door to spit or something or just decides they want in the next lane because they’re going to miss the turn.
    Doesn’t seem safe at all🤷‍♂️

      Tim Miller Totally agree. I would not do it even if it was legal in my state. “An accident looking for a place to happen”

    • @furnimaker
      @furnimaker  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's why I prefer a louder exhaust, other drivers are more cognizant that you are there if they can hear you. The drivers around here are very used to seeing motorcyclists splitting lanes, and are very cool about it, especially during morning and evening rush hour. Most will go out of there way to give you a little extra room.

If you do end up getting yours dyno tuned, make sure that you put the standard tune from Screamin Eagle back on your bike before you get it serviced by a dealer or your warranty will get voided when they hook your bike up to their diagnostic tool. • @paulhorvath9784
    @paulhorvath9784 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Its exactly what I ride down to the Colour.. The Forwards will give you much more clearance so if you're limited by mids why Not have the Best of both worlds , I'm 5" 9 with a 32" inseam and find them Perfect..I scraped the mids during Demo but not the Forwards even through Canyons..I compare the lean angle to my previous 18 Roadster which had the best lean of Any HD.. Also pipes aren't just about volume But exhaust the heat from engine and thus improve efficiency and reliability.. And we here in Australia have the 143 ci kit that is 475 cc extra..Google Alpha performance engines.

    • @furnimaker
      @furnimaker  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think I'm going to more likely be upgrading the suspension components at some point rather than changing peg position. I personally like the ergos of the mids, though I imagine that I would probably get used to front controls too if I changed them, and if I was more into long distance touring they would probably be more comfortable in the long run too. There are a lot of factors that go into exhaust systems that can improve performance like scavenging and whatnot, but the biggest impact on just the joy of riding for me is sound, and for filtering I find that having more volume really makes a huge difference for me. The pipes as they are(with the baffles in) aren't offensively loud, but they definitely sound good and the traffic around me can hear me which is important to me for my commute. Being in California I was pretty limited with what I could legally put on the bike, I basically had 2 choices available from the Harley dealership, both S&S 50 state legal exhausts. I do have a full exhaust Akra exhaust on my KTM that isn't exactly legal for road use here, but just decided to keep it legal on the Harley. A 143 ci kit sounds beastly!!!! I checked A.P.E out, they were putting up some really impressive numbers! Do you have one of their kits?

    • @paulhorvath9784
      @paulhorvath9784 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@furnimaker Hey thanks for reply,,,No I don't have the big 143 kit but I'm very happy as is of the Performance of this bike,,if I was to do anything in the future it would Only be a Cam ,possibly torque cam. As for the Slip ons - they are as close to legal and sound great without being Obnoxious.. My previous VnH short shots were pretty loud and I was always a bit worried bout the law ,,the Eliminators 300 sound as close to a full system when Crack the Throttle. Totally Love Our Bikes. • @sohighfashion6450
      @sohighfashion6450 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      puts the bar shoulder height if/pulls them back a bit. alot more comfy, sat on the low rider s couple times and being only 5'6 the bars are a little forward for me

    • @eagle1hd
      @eagle1hd 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean what is the difference between using risers with same bars and using longer bars? It seems there are several ways to get lift I'm just wondering why someone would choose x over y. Thx

    • @furnimaker
      @furnimaker  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Justin Firor I think it's more of an ergonomic and aesthetic choice. Theoretically the rotational mounting point of the handlebars with risers like mine would have less leverage on it than it would if you had apes, but practically I don't think it would really make any difference unless you applied extreme force to the bars like from a crash. I have noticed that the additional leverage from the added length with these risers did seem to make a difference when counter steering over the stock setup

    Bike looks good.....I have the same silver S.... originally started off with the the Harley street pro tuner and a Bassani pipe.... nice but I needed more....so I went with the S&s 475 cam and the fuel Moto PV tune (fuel Moto utilized my wide band sensors).... thought I would do the 128 but am more than happy with just the cam.... I think you are leaving a lot on the table with the Harley tune...but it is Probably legal in CA.
    You should consider putting the Heritage shock to get the tail up a bit.... it’s about an inch. Check out the S&S mini tear drop air cleaner...
    Enjoy the ride!

    • @furnimaker
      @furnimaker  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, I think the tune could be optimized, I would like to get the bike dyno-tuned, but right now with the current tune I am legal and under warranty though. Harley has been voiding warranties if the bike has a different tune, my understanding is that when a tech attaches the Harley diagnostic tool to your bike it will automatically void the warranty, so I just haven't done anything yet. I definitely would like to address the suspension, a few other people have suggested the Heritage shock, is that what you did with yours?

    • @dp_NYC
      @dp_NYC 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      furnimaker yes, the heritage shock was exactly what I did. They show up on eBay from time to time and it’s a lot less expensive than putting an Ohlins or similar. The bike feels even more nimble with the raise. As far as a tune goes... you have the factory tune on the bike... you have the OEM SE tuner pro... if you put the PowerVision tune on the bike.. it will save the original tune that could simply be put back into place if you need service.

    • @vernlochtefeld1626
      @vernlochtefeld1626 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      furnimaker If you’re only deviation from standard 117 ci stage 4 is the 50 state legal S&S pipe you shouldn’t need to do anything to retain your warranty. Just take it for a dyno pull. I’ll take a stab at 123 HP 117 TQ at the wheel which would be good for epa tune & warranty bike.
      I just read of a LRS aftermarket cam & tune 5.5 injectors & non epa pipe did 126 / 131 at the wheel. And a built 128ci LRS that did 161 / 152. That would be hella fast.
      I know the 30/70 swap on mine made it noticeably quicker. But not something I would recommend without having & aftermarket tuner which voids warranty.

    • @furnimaker
      @furnimaker  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm currently still good with the warranty, but if I'm going to get it dyno'd I'd like to actually get it dyno tuned, but I would have to put the screaming eagle tune back on whenever it gets serviced to avoid them from voiding the warranty.

    • @vernlochtefeld1626
      @vernlochtefeld1626 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't think Harley Davidson could release a stage 4 kit based on affordability and the fact a lot of people might not want a hard charger. I'd stop at a stage 3 - S4 too lumpy, prefer to keep more of the low/mid range.

    • @furnimaker
      @furnimaker  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This stage 4 kit still has plenty of low/mid range grunt, quite an improvement over stock actually. I understand though that a lot of people would prefer the power gains lower in the rev range for around town riding and freeway cruising, but I'm really happy with how the bike feels, and personally I don't mind how it feels at higher rpms, it's exhilerating.

The seat height on my KTM is like 8 inches higher though, with that one I'm on the balls of feet, but it's still really manageable. Lower seat height will probably make you feel more confident and stable on your first bike, but once you get more comfortable with motorcycles I don't think a bike with a higher seat height will bother you much. They are not the stock ones, they are Forbidden Motorcycle bars and risers.

    Loud pipes save lives - an excuse for one's poor riding techniques and/or over-aggressive riding on public roads, not giving a damn about annoying others. Generally speaking, in my opinion, those who have loud pipes, just want/like loud pipes. My excuse for passing you, I don't want to be subjected to someone else's loud pipes. Did you lose lean angle on the RHS due to the relocation of the brake pedal? Is the S&S 2 into 1 Street 50 State legal exhaust louder or quieter than your 2 into 1 into 2 system?

    • @furnimaker
      @furnimaker  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These pipes aren't really loud, just louder than the stock exhaust(which was really quiet). They still fall under the decibal limit to be legal for road use in California. The relocated brake pedal doesn't seem to have made any noticeable difference in lean angle. The S&S 50 state legal to into 1 exhaust did seem to be a little quieter than this 2 into 1 into 2 system when I heard it, but I didn't hear them back to back so it is hard to say if it trully is quieter or not, my impression was that it is though.

      @@furnimaker When I bought my FXLR in 2018 (with Stage III to 114), the only after market exhaust available at the time was the 2B 2 into 1 and V&H slip-ons, both of which are way too loud for my liking, hence I went with the SE slip-ons. These are not very loud at all, but when I give it some on a mountain road, they purr loud enough to be just perfectly. Thks.

    Are you not supposed to take it easy for the first 50miles ?😲

    • @furnimaker
      @furnimaker  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are a few different schools of thought on how to break in engines, but the manufacturers always tell you to take it easy for like 1000 miles or so. Others advocate a hard break in, and yet others say just ride it the way you plan on riding it during the break in. Modern manufacturing methods these days allow for tighter and more consistent tolerances, and I personally think that nowadays how you break in an engine doesn't have quite the same impact on performance and longeveity as it used to. Ultimately though people seem to feel as strongly about their preferred method of breaking in as they do about what motor oil they use in their bike, it's a hot topic of debate amongst people.
