I will make a video in my interview series to explain the many different ways in which programs will reach out to you to give you invites - the most common way is usually ERAS, through the portal itself and direct email. Stay tuned, my interview video series will be posted later in the year after my residency app series is over (anticipating around August-September)! Good luck :)

    Thank you very much for this video.Was very detailed and helpful. Please quick questions: 1) For the MSPE, am I supposed to contact my school to inform them about my application or is there a link to follow on the ERAS application to notify my school? 2) For LORs am I supposed to get the letters from my recommenders and upload on ERAS or is there a segment to fill in my recommenders’ emails so the links for the LORs are automatically sent to them to upload the letters?
    Looking forward to your response.
    Thanks

    • @vaibhavisolankivm.d.5987
      @vaibhavisolankivm.d.5987  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! Glad you liked it - answering your questions:
      1) Yes your medical school should release the MSPE to ERAS, if they don't already know this, then I would get in touch with someone directly from your school to confirm. I'm not aware of any ERAS links that notify your school, best to get the answer from your school yourself.
      2) When you fill out the LOR request on the ERAS portal, you will get a letter ID pdf that you can send to your letter writers (via email) who will upload the letter for you using a seperate portal.
      Good luck!

    This is helpful ! Do you know or have any experience with how to upload 2 separate LoRs from the same person for 2 separate specialties? Will we get 2 different LoR numbers? Also I would appreciate if you can do a video about the program search. Thanks a lot for the video.

    • @vaibhavisolankivm.d.5987
      @vaibhavisolankivm.d.5987  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! If your letter writer is okay with writing two different letters for two specialties, that is great - you can make two separate LOR requests on your ERAS profile, one for each specialty - yes that will give you two different LOR numbers. Yes, program search video will be coming soon, stay tuned! Good luck

    Hey! Thanks the vedio is very helpful. Where do we have to add the away rotations done in USA. And if one has done pediatric rotations and want to apply for IM as well. Where to add the away rotations! ? Thnx

    • @vaibhavisolankivm.d.5987
      @vaibhavisolankivm.d.5987  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! If you have done rotations during medical school in the USA being an IMG, your MSPE should include this information - check with your medical school for this information. If you have done rotations in the USA post-graduation, then there isn't a specific location for this in the ERAS application but I have read that some people add these "observerships" under the experiences section - I don't have personal experience with this as SGU has all their clinical rotations in USA - try researching more about this, perhaps using reddit. If you are applying to IM, try to get more IM specific rotations and specialty-specific experiences. Good luck!

    Thank you so much for the video, I have 2 questions: 1) Even if we our IMGs, our school uploads MSPE? What happens if they don't know about this or how to write it? and...
    2) Is there a section to upload documents to confirm our work experiences, for example, I was working in a primary care office and when I left I asked for a document to confirm I was working there but they have me a kinda unprofessional looking letter that didn't even specify how many months I worked there.

    • @vaibhavisolankivm.d.5987
      @vaibhavisolankivm.d.5987  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! Happy to help :)
      1) Yes your school should uplaod the MSPE as per my knowledge, unless they let you upload one yourself? Not sure how this would work. Someone from your school should reach out to ERAS and ask them on what the requirements are for the MSPE. I went to SGU(carribean) and they did it for us.
      2) No, there is no section for this as "evidence" of your expeirences but write it detailed in the eras section about what you did and stuff. It's good to have these documents with you though, incase someone asks you during the interviews, BUT honestly during my interviews no one asks for "proof" on what you did, you are expected to be truthful.

      Hey! The CV should be saved as a PDF on your computer once completed and yes, manually uploaded onto the portal. The PS will be "copy and paste" into the portal PS section, this is not the case for the CV. The pdf CV will be uploaded as a whole file into the portal and from there you have to assign it individually to each program. If you need more CV help, check out my video: th-cam.com/video/kyTnnJS1pQY/w-d-xo.html GOOD LUCK!

    Hi Dr. V, thank you so much for doing this! I have a quick question, if I'm currently out of state, what should I do for the phone number?
    Do you get a lot of phone calls from programs, or the majority of it is through ERAS and email? The programs are probably not gonna call overseas number, should I put a reliable colleague's number or international number? thank you so much!

    • @vaibhavisolankivm.d.5987
      @vaibhavisolankivm.d.5987  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! The majority is definitely through ERAS/email and some of the other platforms that I talk about in my video called "Residency Interview Invitations" (check it out on my page) - but I did get 1 phone call for an interview invite and 1 phone call to confirm for another interview during my season last year - that being said, it is possible but not as popular of an option for programs. If you use someone else's ph number, just be sure to really trust them! Good luck :)

      In my personal experience, certain specialties like IM or other competitive fields, research is a must - atleast one or two experiences since research is a big part of medicine as a whole. I know it can be hard to gain these experiences depending on a ton of factors (where you are, what school you went to, if you got USCE, etc.) -BUT I would say try and be a part of remote research opportunities (i.e. online stuff) OR EVEN BETTER - make your own reserach if you are currently working in a hospital or reach out to hosp/programs near you to see if you can part-take in something. Try your best to get what you can. Try even other unis or something! Good luck.
