Actually genuine kudos to SNL, you've made a Muslim sketch that didn't resort to low-hanging fruit, and was genuinely hilarious. Nicely done, whoever wrote this.
The special guest was Ramy, a guy who made a whole show about intellectual jokes about being Muslim.
If they make christian sketch its gonna be mocking😂
Uncle Tom. This sketch was insensitive and disgusting.
@@azriel29-yl5xf I guess that's one way to say you've never watched SNL without saying you've never watched SNL.
@@azriel29-yl5xf All their previous Muslim sketches have been about xtrem ists. Finally one that's normal! The Christian sketches have been a mix.
In all my years, I never thought I'd see a Ramadan themed skit on SNL and as a Muslim, I feel so seen :) Thank you Ramy!!
I'm glad it's being taken in the spirit it's meant. Jokes are so much more funny when we can all laugh with each other and at ourselves. No punching down necessary.
I was looking for the words to describe this or the comment. Yes.. I feel seen and it feels good!!!!!❤❤❤❤😂
@@user-ro4kr4ij7y I was worried it would cause outrage
I sent this to my muslim friend but she told me that you shouldn’t joke about Ramadan, so now I feel bad.

"I've always loved hearing my cab drivers angrily yell in Arabic and it really made me want to convert to Islam" is an all timer line 🤣
I feel like that line came about from writers saying "What can we have the convert say as a reason for converting that will be funny but also not get us in trouble?" They nailed it
That was hilarious 😂
Why did you add "angrily" 🤔
@@emuccino well spotted. I suppose because some people think that speaking loudly/yelling equals being angry! Whereas it can mean many different things! Unconscious bias innit?
The implication that being Muslim means you can speak Arabic

Such a great touch
🤣🤣🤣 Almost dropped my phone! Hilarious
Right next to two tubs of hummus, as well 😂
As a lifelong American Muslim I’m glad to see SNL satirizing our lifestyle without the typical overused terrorist “jokes”. I love how they showed different ethnicities & backstories of Muslims. Really enjoyed this! 😂
@Zenithx3 Is this what you wanna be caught doing when your God looks at you? The Bible is pretty brutal too, are you also spamming Christians and Jews online?

I used to think (when I was a kid) that Muslims couldn't eat at all for an entire month during Ramadan, lol. Turns out, they only eat at night, instead.
😂 That's funny. It's not at all about torturing ourselves. Some Muslims even gain weight during Ramadan.
And they eat a lot at night. From what I understand.
They eat breakfast too

Crazy to see Muslim humor on mainstream TV in the United States. Progress takes time.
The US is starving two million people. I don’t think SNL is the marker of progress
We dont need this bs, 2 million people are starving and being klled, and SNL made a joke abt it using that twinky son of kylie jenner, SNL constantly hires z1on1sts and we arent here for that, thats no progress
@@kiranmkota The reality of progress within humanity is how slow its actual pace, and how it trickles in small steps, not taking big strides.

This was a good use of Ramy's comic timing, and a take on a current fad that didn't feel overdone. I wonder if Lorne was backstage saying they need to find a way to work Andrew doing weird dancing into at least two pieces that week.

They said "halal", not "Allah" lmao
SNL's commercial skits are always awesome and hilarious! They always find new things to crack us up!
I just wish they hadn't sold out on the first commercial after the monologue. It was THE fake funny dynamic ad, and about.....30.....? Years ago they sold out to advertisers for their real ad to take it's spot. Must have gotten top dollar, but ruined a tradition. 😮

Ok, if I'm laughing on the way to work in a Monday morning, that means you did a good job👏🏼😂
1:45 Breaking the fast is rewarded. When the time to eat arrives, you must not delay. After Ramadan ends, you can fast 6 days within the next month to get credit for a continuous uninterrupted fast for the entire year. Also, fasting is made easy to endure in Ramadan, more so than at any other time. Fasting Muslims generally find they have plenty of energy, and as the month progresses it gets easier.
I hear the same thing from people who do intermittent fasting for health reasons. It makes sense, really.
@@kristinazubic9669 I imagine your body adjusts. I don't think average humans have ever lived with the abundance of food just a short walk away, as we do now, with the invention of refrigeration and canning.

That wasn't a PC defense. It was a direct hit on another mythology group that thinks they are better than everyone else. Cue the usual accusations...
It is a PC defense. They're making fun of corporations who rebrand products to make money off specific demographics and then act like any criticism of the product is a criticism of the demographic. It’s crazy how different peoples sense of humor can be. I didn’t crack a smile at this. And I can show you so many skits in the past couple years that are 10x better than this, but like I said everyone has a different view, crazy. I think about it all the time how different humans can be
@@Andrew-dd3yt it’s true. Everyone’s got a different taste. I respect that you didn’t try to needlessly insult me enjoying this one, even though you may not have. I personally enjoy the SNL that existed 8-9 years ago, and I guess this is small reminder of it (to me at least).
Happy Ramadhan y'all! fasting is good.
@Zenithx3you quote Qur’an 9:5 out of context just to deceive people. Here is 9:6
“And if anyone from the polytheists asks for your protection ˹O Prophet˺, grant it to them so they may hear the Word of Allah, then escort them to a place of safety, for they are a people who have no knowledge.”
This is clearly showing that the verses are contextual. And even when Muslims are in war , if anyone among the enemies seek protection, it must be given to them.
The verse before 9:5 reads:
“Excepted are those with whom you made a treaty among the polytheists and then they have not been deficient toward you in anything or supported anyone against you; so complete for them their treaty until their term [has ended]. Indeed, Allah loves the righteous [who fear Him].”
The verses are instructing Muslims to be keeping promises and treaties when enemies do the same and act accordingly when enemies change.
That's hilarious. I love how they just managed to make a Muslim themed sketch without stereotyping.
You see, that's why I like that Ramy Youssef was hosting. (I still feel like him playing a Scottish character in Poor Things was revenge for Anthony Quinn in Lawrence of Arabia.)
Internationally the average list price for Ozempic is around $100.
Did you know that the typical list price for Ozempic in the USA is $900 to $1500?
