He isn't lying when he says you can get the best of both the HE1000v2 Stealth and Arya Organic by jumping up to the Hifiman HE1000SE (37:34). I've auditioned all of the above, and the SE is in another category altogether. In fact, it not only gives you the best of both of the other headsets, it gives you a lot more, especially... ESPECIALLY in CLARITY and resolution. It is the clarity king. It is the pin point accurate sound placement king. I bought all 3. I returned all but the HE1000SE. $2000 was more than I intended to spend. But why settle for less than the very best when listening to music literally removes stress from my body? I put it on a credit card and paid $1000 two months in a row. Worth it 100 times over. Excellent review!
Thanks for sharing your opinion. May i ask you how would you rank soundstage and dynamics/impact between Organic and HEKSE ? Is the SE still giving more in those areas ? Or maybe they're just on par ? And is one noticeably brighter than his brother ?
Agreed. But... i'll admit if I owned a 2,499.99 USD Burson Audio Soloist 3X GT Amplifier + Conductor 3X GT DAC combination which has an insane combined frequency response from 1hz to 1mhz then I would go for the 5,999.99 USD Hifiman Susvara because I would finally have equipment strong enough to drive its unreal detail retrieval. Because a $300.00 DAC will only make the Susvara purr...

I have a request, respectfully. These videos are perfect content for listening (rather than watching) during various activities. However, it's impossible to follow your comparisons without intently watching -- you tend to refer to every headphone/amp as "this one." "This one has better low end, but this one stages better, while this one has almost as much clarity as this one. And this one has more upper mids, whereas this one has a very sharp treble spike. This one is a little better than this one at technicalities, but this one is better than this one in terms of value." I can't follow anything that's happening. I've even had trouble when watching, in cases where the headphones looked similar on my small screen and I forgot which was which. I'd love it if you'd refer to the headphones or amps by name when comparing them.
Thanks for the detailed review. The Arya Organic is at the top of my list, the HEDDphone TWO also looks very interesting but I think it is aimed more at the pro audio market.
I just ordered these and just watched your video to justify my purchase. Ha! Anyway thanks for the review, great job, you give off a trustworthy and intelligent vibe. Also I’m a glasses wearer as well, which can be troublesome with headphones.

I wonder how much better the organic is over an edition XS? The reason I’m asking is because I’m thinking of “upgrading” to the organic. Is it a no brainer decision?
Thank you for the comparisons. I think this review for the first time makes it much more clear what the treble differences are between Arya Stealth and Organic. Many said Organic has more, others said less, so you helped clarify how they're both true for different reasons.
Great and thorough review as always. I love the clear cut between the HE1000 stealth and the Arya Organic. Would love to know how these two work with tube amps.

Hey there, I have currently Hifiman Sundara, paired with the iFi Zen Dac and Zen Can combo, right now this sound so so amazing. Using this for gaming and movie watching. But I have been looking for something better, I love how you have stated that the sound stage is massive and many other things, like Bass, that I feel would be massive improvement from the Sundara. Do you think the iFi Combo would work well with the Arya Organic? - I do plan on upgrading the combo in the future, just cannot afford both the Arya and better amplification at the same time.
Hi, I am using the zen dac HFM combo with my organics and they work really well together with no gain applied on the amp and volume around 12 o'clock. I have the Dekoni elite hybrid pads fitted and a moondrop line w balanced cable. Incredible clarity and detail in the music. Am loving my organics!!
Do the Arya Organic and the HE1000SE both use plastic connectors/hinge parts where the metal parts connect with each other? Or is everything, even the mechanical parts, all metal? I have the Ananda v3 and my main issue with it is that the plastic parts that keep the headband together with the ear cup connectors have broken apart. Any headset I've had over the years with the exception of Sennheiser's HD599 has had this issue, where the plastic bits that keep the headband together are the first to fall apart. And I take care of my stuff too, so it's really disappointing for the amount of money spent on these. I think I have a large head, and I definitely think I need headphones that are metal entirely on the headband connection points.
While not expensive I think the ifi Zen DAC/CAN stack sounds pretty good for what it is and better than Topping offerings. I wonder how the Aryas sound on that little entry level stack?
Hey, did the soundstage open up after burn-in because im not hearing that huge soundstage you're talking about. I would say the soundstage width and depth is just about on the same level as my lcdx 2021. But the hifiman arya organic is fairly new so im wondering will the stage get bigger over time. I have the arya organics paird with the ef400 using balanced xlr cables.
Usually it takes some time for the drivers to open up. The trebles will smoothen a bit, the bass will fully extend and the soundstage will widen. I always play some bassy tracks and pink noise or frequency sweeps at medium level for some days... you can wrap them in a towel to dampen the noise
35:25 I remembered trying ZMF Auteur on a topping E50+L50 combo and it is amazing how the Auteur could sound great even with topping, it is a great achievement of ZMF to make their headphone be able to sound great even when the source is far from great. Amazing detailed reviews as always. While I don't really like HiFiMans, a detailed honest review is something I really appreciate!
yeah was waiting for your review but bought it anyway 3 weeks ago, they are are just exceptional and coming from the ARYA stealth. I am on the EF400 and will wait for your opinion on the Serende, thanks for the review.
Thanks for the review and the detailed comparison. I have an Arya v2 non stealth which I chose over the Arya stealth after comparison because I while I liked the Arya stealth's tonality better, I personally preferred the bigger sound stage of the non stealth more. I'm looking to make an 'upgrade' now. How would you say the Arya V2 non stealth compares to the HE1000v2s and Arya Organic when it comes to sound stage and detail?
Got the Organics and I have to say I never heard such impact and slam on any other headphones yet (apart from the HE1000SE). I tried the Focal Clear MG and didn't really like it's dynamics, I don't know why people say dynamic headphones have more dynamics and slam. Do you have some (dynamic) headphone suggestions to listen to? Oh and the LCD-X has in fact more dynamics than the Organic but only a little and you still (literally) feel the bass more on the Hifimans.
I find that to be the opposite for me. The lcdx has a bit more impact then my organics, you actually feel the bass on the lcdx. You feel it on the organics but not as much as the lcdx
Interesting! Thanks for doing this. I do have a question- how do you think a JDS Element II would handle these headphones? I've been looking into the Arya Organic/HE1000 V2 Stealth Edition, but I am wondering if I'd need to upgrade my AMP/DAC. Thanks again, and have a nice day!
@@jkteddy77 Thanks! An additional question- I'm coming from an HD 6XX (which pairs beautifully with my Element II) that I love to pieces. Of the two options (Arya Organic/HE 1000 V2 Stealth), which one do you think would be a better "upgrade"? (I know you don't have an Organic, but hopefully your experience with Aryas would help fill in the gap) The only way I'd have to try both is to order both through amazon and return one, which I'd prefer not to do if at all possible... Thanks again, and have a wonderful day!
So how was v281 with those hifimans, I was waiting for the punch line... It's gotta be one of the best amplifiers for them? Thank you for your videos. Cheers
Great review! Would you recommend Arya Organic over HE1000V2Stealth for mainly rock/metal/edm music if i have Sennheiser HDVD800 amp/dac to pair them with?
I am planning to buy arya orgainc. What's sources do you recommend with these to make treble more smooth and relax.? My music preferences is pop and electronic.also play gaming.
Would love to know your thoughts on original HE-400 and HE-500 from Hifiman, if you can get hands on them. They won’t have latest tech but they were super fun cans
I would like these in the future for composing, mixing and mastering my own orchestral music. I use an MAudio Air interface and a JDS Labs Atom Amp+. What amp & dac would you recommend in order to power these well enough on a budget? Thanks!
That was the best concise review I've seen on the organic. Would the organic and/or the HE 1000 stealth work well with a Schiit bifrost 2 dac and a singxer sa-1 amp? I'm looking to replace my HD 650 headphones, and I want to make sure that my current dac/amp combo is a good match for either of those hifiman headphones.
thanks for the review. i use the AO for 6 weeks now. I like it alot but the treble is sometimes a bit to harsh. It also depends on the day, sometimes it doesnt borrow me, the other day its quite annoying. I m using the Ifi go bar with my Mac book pro. Do you have any recommendation for loweing the treble just by a little? Maybe a copper cable or another portable Dac/Amp? Thanks
The problem is build quality. I bought an Arya V2 in mid 2020. Since I bought a used HD800 I have been using that more. A couple weeks ago I plugged in the Arya and didn't even have my amp turned up halfway and the left channel died...........I have a used Sennheiser HD590 made in like 2001 and it still works fine. I doubt anything Hifiman makes is going to still work in 20 years.
These sound like damn near endgame cans for movies. The bass seems especially deep and tremble sounds extra spicy, maybe more "U" shaped tuning🤔 I think I need the HE1K stealths to round out my collection a bit. Between the LCD-X and Focal Radiance I've got bassy, "fun" tuning pretty well covered. Neutrality, clarity and smoothness sound spot on for that final third of music genres like classical and jazz.
I don't know how to answer these questions TBH. I don't know how big each person's % is and thus don't know how to interpret it when someone says headphone x is 90% of headphone y. I will say that the HE1000se is a clear step up from AO HekStealth and to my ear justifies its price increase over those.
Mostly agree with most reviews you give, but I’m bucking the trend in this one. I thoroughly demo’d the stealth and organic at the same time and same price at the time. The organics had just come out a few weeks prior. I also listened to the 1000 stealth and the 1000SE at the same time. The 1000SE is on another level all together and will be my next purchase. But of the other three I actually liked (and Bought) the Arya stealth the most. It sounded the closest to the SE to my ears. The other two just had to much treble shelf for my liking and I don’t find the Arya stealths peaky at all through my Violectric DHA 380
Help please , I bought the he1000se and the treble is to much for my ears , I'm using bitfrost 2/64 and I use non filter to try to cut some bite off and my amp is schiit jotunheim 2 . How can I tame this if I can't which hifiman headphone would be better if I return them ? I see more money doesn't always mean better , maybe he1000 stealth ?
I've never listened to the HekSE but I do have that exact signal chain: HEK Stealth + Bifrost 2/64 + Jot 2 and I don't have any trouble at all with the treble even after listening for hours at higher volumes. Treble sensitivity is so individual though that you just have to try for yourself.
@nullvektor9922 my headphones and setup now sounds awesome , maybe the new headphones needed time to break in or my amp or dac needed more time but all is well and happy
Totally agree with your assessment here. I had originally auditioned them and sent them back but they blew me away when i listened to them. I recently acquired them again for a great deal and my opinion hasn't changed. They are spectacular in the imaging and soundstage. My only issue is the build quality is nowhere near ZMF and for that reason only I may sell them and get an auteur classic or a verite open in the used market.
@@random-internet-dude actually no lul, but not by a large margin especially considering its price point. He1000se excels in vibrancy. Still, for $800? Nothing beats nan7, solid built and an all around package, no brainer.
@@sierre00 Thanks for the quick reply. Indeed for this price it looks like a no brainer in someone collection. I've only started recently looking at them and my only concern is how to get them without any hassle lol. Did you get it from Taobao for this price ?
Great comprehensive review! (As always) I was really looking forward to your take on the Organic. Thank you! Which of the two cables was your favorite for the Hifiman sound?
I have these and I love them. However, I have the Topping D90SE and the A90 and find the treble peaks. So I got a ifi USB noise filter and I got to say, the DAC and Amp combo sounds even better. Especially with my Focal Clear MG and HD800s. But the pesky treble peaks are still there not as biting without the USB filter but there nonetheless. I’m also going to try a warmer cable with the Organic but what DAC amp combo do you suggest for the organic to level out the pesky highs?
37:34 Golden opportunity to make a joke about the Shangri-La being an option, and you missed it. 😭 Good on Hifiman though. They continue to find ways to improve their already quite good line-up.
@@wavetheorysound Right - I just rewatched your Meze 109 Pro review though, and the head band is closer to your head and the space is "even"; which seems better to me. I got a killer deal via a distributor in my country and paid a equivalence of just $1050 for my Organic. That’s insane value for money. After a week of burn-in, my unit sounds so good. This should be my end-game headphone for quite some time.
@@RealSteveEyes It depends on the source. Stay away from dry or clinical sounding sources like those from Topping. I really enjoy the sound of the Organic being driven by Schiit Asgard 3 or Aune S9C Pro. The stock cable makes treble sound a little bit sharp-edged and hash. Thus I also changed the cable.
Those genres are usually intentionally recorded somewhat poorly. It helps with their sound from an artistic presentation standpoint. These are likely just revealing that reality to you.

@@stevendavis1135 Oh really? Any particular song, or frequency? Did you boost the bass?
THANK U!
Do an aria organic vs stax l700
Thanks Rob
(I know you don't have an Organic, but hopefully your experience with Aryas would help fill in the gap)
The only way I'd have to try both is to order both through amazon and return one, which I'd prefer not to do if at all possible...
Thanks again, and have a wonderful day!
So how was v281 with those hifimans, I was waiting for the punch line...
It's gotta be one of the best amplifiers for them?
Thank you for your videos. Cheers
It is. The new Hifiman Prelude also sounds great with them.
pretty nice and natural, astell is better surprisingly
Great review! Would you recommend Arya Organic over HE1000V2Stealth for mainly rock/metal/edm music if i have Sennheiser HDVD800 amp/dac to pair them with?
With mid-fi source gear, probably. If your source gear is higher end, more difficult to say.
Modhouse Tungsten when!?
I would like these in the future for composing, mixing and mastering my own orchestral music. I use an MAudio Air interface and a JDS Labs Atom Amp+. What amp & dac would you recommend in order to power these well enough on a budget? Thanks!
That was the best concise review I've seen on the organic. Would the organic and/or the HE 1000 stealth work well with a Schiit bifrost 2 dac and a singxer sa-1 amp? I'm looking to replace my HD 650 headphones, and I want to make sure that my current dac/amp combo is a good match for either of those hifiman headphones.
I don't recall the SA-1 having issues with Hifimans back when I reviewed it. But I haven't had it around to check the Arya or HE1000 series on it.
thanks for the review. i use the AO for 6 weeks now.
Thanks
If you're willing to drop the $$$ the Plussound X8 square weave OFC cable has tamed the HiFiMan highs for me on most units.
@@wavetheorysoundthanks for the answer. Do you have cheaper recommendations?
Does another portable Dac is an option? Like the Mojo 2?
@@ilovecoldplayyyy I've heard good things about Audiophile Ninja, but haven't actually heard one yet. I think they have copper conductors.
How is the Arya Organic vs the Focal Utopia?
The problem is build quality. I bought an Arya V2 in mid 2020. Since I bought a used HD800 I have been using that more. A couple weeks ago I plugged in the Arya and didn't even have my amp turned up halfway and the left channel died...........I have a used Sennheiser HD590 made in like 2001 and it still works fine. I doubt anything Hifiman makes is going to still work in 20 years.
Wave Theory - have you identified any DACs or Headphone amplifiers that are able to inject warmth/tonal density to thw lower and upper midrange?
Hi Waves iam getting really bad sound when i am using aryas with piano repertoire. I want to ask if the same thing is happening to you
30:40 HE1000 stealth comparison
Which is better for gaming ( detecting enemy footsteps for example ) ? So imaging/sound seperation
Nice review. I'm tempted by these. My only fear is like most HIFIMAN HP's they can become fatiguing with Metal and Rock
I found them less so than HiFiMans past, but it still won't work for everyone.
@WaveTheory If you don't have any other headphones and you are to choose only between Arya Organic and HE1000 V2 (OG) which one will you go with.
Probably the Hek. I still like it a lot for rock/metal but would ultimately miss its higher resolution.
I'm sold. Trying to figure out how to build my credit so I can buy them.
How does it sound on Hugo2?
Thank you so much for schooling us 'til you're tired.
Which do you prefer between the Hek Stealth and Arya Organic?!
8:52 - the moiment HiFiMan should understand that they need to replace the cable supplier or do something with that cable, - is not usable like that!
The HE1000SE is about 50% more expensive than the Arya Organic. Is the HE1000SE at least 25% better than the Arya Organic?
Just buy the Schiit Lokius and bring down the 6 kHz a bit
I've never listened to the HekSE but I do have that exact signal chain: HEK Stealth + Bifrost 2/64 + Jot 2 and I don't have any trouble at all with the treble even after listening for hours at higher volumes. Treble sensitivity is so individual though that you just have to try for yourself.
@nullvektor9922 my headphones and setup now sounds awesome , maybe the new headphones needed time to break in or my amp or dac needed more time but all is well and happy
@@Angel-AbC9 Good to hear man. I bet it sounds amazing.
Which one do you recommend to use with the mojo 2?
Can't say with certainty without hearing Mojo 2. Odds are in favor of AO tho
@@wavetheorysoundwhen are you going to review mojo 2?
looks like it's designed to work better (than the other ones) with portable DACs
Sounds like it could be overpowering in sheer size of sound. A bit too much maybe? But with slightly recessed mids, Idk.
For some that is likely true and music genre will also be a factor here.
@wavetheorysound Appreciate your response, and your in-depth reviews.
which one have more depth hek or organic?
Hek. It's not a huge difference on mid-fi source chains, but the delta gets bigger as source gear quality increases.
The hype may be well founded...
I think so
@@wavetheorysound thanks for the review !
Totally agree with your assessment here. I had originally auditioned them and sent them back but they blew me away when i listened to them. I recently acquired them again for a great deal and my opinion hasn't changed. They are spectacular in the imaging and soundstage. My only issue is the build quality is nowhere near ZMF and for that reason only I may sell them and get an auteur classic or a verite open in the used market.
yea I also would prefer auteur classic
Never would have guessed an organic headphone can be produced
I have the he1000se, amazing, holds its ground against the mighty heddphone. Try nan7. Another tremendous headphones
Curious, does the Nan-7 takes the cake for dynamics/impact/slam against those two giants ?
The Gladiator matched the AO well. It may not work as well for some of their other models.
Good on Hifiman though. They continue to find ways to improve their already quite good line-up.
Wow - the headband sticks way up above your head! And the flatter top on the headband looks more awkward, in my opinion.
I tend to like them to sit higher on my head so I keep the head size adjustment toward the smaller end.
@@wavetheorysound Right - I just rewatched your Meze 109 Pro review though, and the head band is closer to your head and the space is "even"; which seems better to me.
On the other end of the range on how far the head band sits away from the user's head, is the Dan Clark / Drop Aeon et al - these sit really close(r) to my head. I do have a very large noggin - 8 7/8" - and some headphones (like the Thieaudio Ghost) that *barely* fit me. My Monolith M570 headphones keep (slowly) bending outward as I wear them ...
What tracks would you recommend to demonstrate it's capability.
I choose many from this list plus some new ones that come along in time: WaveTheory's Test Tracks: th-cam.com/play/PLAXqplOP0XrZQhuHtEA01DWeymu9guJUm.html
@@wavetheorysounddoes anyone have these in a playlist somewhere?
Wow the headphone game is confusing! Ive never heard a planar, currently have hd650. Listen to a bit of everything.
I wish there was 1 headphone that was recommended under say 2k.
Maybe instead of making 50 models, they should concentrate on 1 or 2
The Focals are the most anemic sounding headphones in terms of bass .
😂😂 maybe your amp is anemic
I got a killer deal via a distributor in my country and paid a equivalence of just $1050 for my Organic. That’s insane value for money. After a week of burn-in, my unit sounds so good. This should be my end-game headphone for quite some time.
You don't find them too bright?
@@RealSteveEyes It depends on the source. Stay away from dry or clinical sounding sources like those from Topping. I really enjoy the sound of the Organic being driven by Schiit Asgard 3 or Aune S9C Pro. The stock cable makes treble sound a little bit sharp-edged and hash. Thus I also changed the cable.
Something about hifiman that throws me off when I heard it. But tbh I was listening to blk metal and tech death.
Those genres are usually intentionally recorded somewhat poorly. It helps with their sound from an artistic presentation standpoint. These are likely just revealing that reality to you.
This guy could sell snakes to oil
2k for theadphones+ 2k for amp? just get speakers if you want that soundstage at this point. It's absurd.
Why? Not everyone is in a living situation where speakers make sense. And some just prefer headphones. That may not make sense to you, but it not making sense to you doesn't make it absurd.
Give us a break when it comes to the cable. Just uncoil, it straighten it out, and the coiling is gone. Terrible thing to gripe about.
I am tempted, but that headband is SOOOOOoo ugly... I could alter that I guess and get a different headband. Why couldn't they just round that out?
You can't see it when it's on your head.
HD800S still got the biggest soundstage..
Widest *maybe*. It has been surpassed by hifiman in height and depth a couple Arya generations ago.
@@wavetheorysound i can see many reviewers say that xD
not on my HP's and amp. testet many times with friends. HD800S beats my old arya and my HE1000V2 stealth in soundstage width, height, and depth :D i can hear when arya/he1000v2 ends special in the width and height! HD800s feels like it never stop sometime, in the right song.
The saying no use, why not put a demo? I don’t think it worth 1300$ after listen. We need to understand why and how?
