    Since I know many will ask: yes, I'm aware HiFiMan just recently announced the Ananda Nano and Arya Organic. I have requested that my rep send them to me ASAP. It is likely only a matter of time before they end up here. I will give them thorough comparisons to their appropriate models as well. Stay tuned!

      And hopefully the ZMF Caldera too, quite a few folks are saying its a junior Susvara (like the HekSE) but without the amplification needs.

      @@daniluzzu doubtful, it is aimed at the same $1299 price, they wouldn't auto sabotage their line up with a better sounding headphone than the HEK V2 Stealth for less money. From Hifiman description it sounds like it is a warmer tilted Arya Stealth but with the wider spacial presentation of the Arya V1 and V2.

    I purchased the Hifiman HE1000SE and the HE1000v2 Stealth at the same time two months ago. I auditioned them side by side daily for two weeks before deciding to return one pair. I was honestly at a stalemate for quite some time. They certainly sound different. The V2 Stealth has a signature to it that is just relaxing and pleasing to a level I have never before heard. The SE has the absolute most realistic and clear audio reveal imaginable. It is unexplainable. You simply must hear it. But yet, it is simply less pleasing in your average listen than the V2 Stealth, while being more impressive at the same time. So the question comes down to this: Do you want to melt into the music or do you want to be in awe of the music? Now do you understand why I was at a stalemate? So which one did I return? The HE1000v2. Reluctantly. To my taste and audible understanding, these two headphones are THE PERFECT compliment to each other. They both made me want to immediately sell my long beloved Hifiman Ananda Stealth, which prior to hearing these two headphones had me in a state of "this is as good as I need music to sound". I loved them. Now I like them a lot. But they truly don't have a place in the conversation of audio excellence once the two higher ends sets come into play. Sigh. So I returned the HE1000v2. I still wish I could have kept them. Their bass was more loose than the SE, but in a way you could appreciate. It hit just right. And the quantity was perfect. The quantity on the SE is less, but the quality is more. Depending on the day, my taste swings between these two and I am 100% sure that when the sting of the cost of the SE wears off, I will one day buy the V2 again and keep both. I want to note before I end this long comment that the SE have notably better slam. Kick drums snap with more authority and sound noticeably tighter and cleaner than the V2. Vocals on the SE sound 100% transparent and realistic. You would think the singer was right there in the room with you, auditioning the song that is playing for you. The SE is "that" good. The only caveat to that level of audio fidelity is that it literally wows you so much that you spend the time in awe, with your attention actively engaged... in a good way of course. But you don't get serenaded by the overall sound and emotion of the track like you do with the V2. And that is why I believe that owning these two, together, or possibly just owning the Susvara (possibly my end game headphones?), is the final frontier in audio enjoyment. Thanks for reading.

      Exactly this. I'm listening to the HE1000v2 Stealth for two weeks now, and today the HE1000SE arrived. My plan was to only keep one, and I was expecting the HE1000SE to be "better", but it's not, it's just… "different". There's no clear winner here. These are two cans that complement each other perfectly, but you've already said that. It's a matter of daily changing moods and the production you're listening to. I'm in a dilemma now. (Fun fact: I enjoy the Hifimans more on my Schiit Asgard 2 than on the Hifiman EF400).

      This was fantastic to read. I want to buy audiophile headphones, and I only want one. I was interested in the Ananda Nano, but then I found how much better the Arya Organic is, but the HE1000 V2 Stealth was just a bit more expensive, or even cheaper if I bought refurbished. My question then was: what about the SE? I didn't want to spend that much, but if I am only going to buy one pair, let be this my end game. Thanks a lot for your sharing your opinions 👍🏻

    • @basQDE
      @basQDE 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@geekatari4391 That's a question only you can answer. Honestly, I strongly suggest you to find a possibility to try out these cans for yourself, at least for a week, the longer, the better - maybe by using the return policies of available vendors? In the end, I kept the HE1000SE, since it was the more revealing and "honest" one to my ears. It even opened new genres to me, as I "understood" classical music for the first time listening to the HE1000SE's presentation! Yes, the HE1000SE didn't sound as pleasing (or engaging!) as the V2 Stealth on some occasions (I remember being really disappointed when listening to Michael Jacksons "Off the Wall" on vinyl), but the Stealth in comparison were a bit disconnected to me in situations where I had the impression that the bass regions were not well connected to their sparkling heigh counter parts. Your mileage may, of course, differ totally… Now I'm looking for an engaging, potentially technically less perfect pair of cans to accompany my HE1000SE when I'm in a different mood, which makes me doubt that there's really something like an "endgame" headphone. Usually it'll be the budget that restricts… 😂

    I own the HE1000V2 Stealth and I had the chance to thoroughly compare them to the borrowed SE of my uncle (Were both Hifi-Heads). And I really dont undertstand your points at all. The V2 Stealth clearly has better resolution and more transparency. The SE has a more mellow (Not veiled!) and organic sound. Its also a super resolving but the V2 Stealth produces even more precise details. I like my headphones as sharp as possible without inducing fatigue. And the V2 Stealth are perfect in that regard. They go to the absolute maximum of treble but still never overshoot. Some might call it fatiguing but I find them simply "precise". The SE is a fantastic sounding, very organic and very laidback. The midrange is also slightly more engaging. But his points about the SE being better on every metric is simply false. Thats not true at all and you can verify it with other reviewers here on youtube...

      Everyone hears differently. That's the beauty of watching so many different opinions on items and then finally getting your hands on one to see how it stacks up. Once your views are in line with another's then you know you can "trust" their source of information better.

      Well that's what your ears (or brain really) tells you about the experience and there is nothing wrong with that. There are obviously going to be people like you who share your opinion, and there are going to be others who agree with no one. I, for one, do not agree with your assessment. To me, the SE is quite obviously the more technically proficient headphone of the two. However, the difference is hardly jaw dropping, but it is clearly there. Just for the sake of disclosure, I do EQ my headphones. And there is no way to EQ a V2 to perform like an SE. Trust me, I did try.

    I just bought the HEKv2 Stealths and am slowly burning them in. When I listened to them out of the box, the bass was almost overpowering and the treble was bright. However, after letting them play over a few nights with both pink noise and my dedicated burn-in playlist, they've settled in very nicely. Bass that was sort of everywhere and lacking in finesse has turned into a very textured but still very present type of presentation. Treble that was a bit too "cutting" has now mellowed to be just enough while still being very detailed. The overall presentation of music has gotten much more spacious and enveloping - while being much more textured than when fresh out of the box. I think I'm going to keep them alongside my Arya Stealths - that is, until I get ready to sell the Aryas.....

    Just pulled the trigger on the HE1000 Stealth (i’m upgrading from the arya stealth), i mostly got there by logic watching where the Arya v2 vs the HE1000v2 were (they got the same impedance and sensitivity) and seeing that the HE1000 Stealth had the same impedance and sensitivity (almost) of the Arya Stealth.
    Considering the HE1000 Stealth open box directly from hifiman store goes for 1400 dollars… it’s a no brainer.

    • @AndreaDiLiddo
      @AndreaDiLiddo ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Jacky1994 Yeah, it actually arrived early and I had some time with it. In the end I'm going to keep the HE1000 stealth and trade the Arya, as they are pretty similar but the HE1000 just evolve the best Arya characteristics. It has more details, a better stage (more in front of you, deeper and wider), it is a bit dryer in comparison tho. The Arya is warmer, less incisive and more laid back.
      I could see owning them both, as they are not identical, but to see they are not different enough.

    • @Jacky1994
      @Jacky1994 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AndreaDiLiddo Thanks! I personally find the Arya Stealth quite bright in some songs // nearly hurting bright. Is the HE1000 stealth a bit less bright in that regard?
      Also how do you compare the bass? Same as Arya Stealth?

    • @AndreaDiLiddo
      @AndreaDiLiddo ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Jacky1994 I think the HE1000 Stealth might be a bit brighter, for sure it's not darker. I perceive their highs more or less on the same level, in the sense I don't have to adjust the volume I'm listening to when I switch one to the other.
      Bass-wise, the Arya feels like more mid-bass focused while the HE1000 has a more punch and it's tighter (maybe more sub-bass?).
      After comparing and listening the Arya to other HP like the Focal Clear and the ZMF Aeolus I just understand that those Hifiman needs to be used at lower listening volume, that's where they shine.
      Also, consider that brightness might be perceived in relation to the upper mids vs the lower treble, which to me seems like the case of the HE1000.
      Many time I feel like I want less highs, I want darker sounding headphones, but in the end I always come back to the Hifimans. Just at a lower listening volume! :P

    About a week ago, I owned two pairs of headphones: the HE1000 v2 and the Arya Stealth. Compared to the Arya Stealth, the HE1000 v2 exhibited a higher level of resolution, but lost out in the midrange and bass, making vocals seem distant and lacking warmth.
    Subsequently, I made the decision to sell the HE1000 v2 and purchase the HE1000 Stealth (v3). In a direct comparison between the HE1000 Stealth and the Arya Stealth, it became apparent that the HE1000 Stealth had similar sound quality to the Arya Stealth, but with improved resolution and detail. In addition, the midrange and bass on the HE1000 Stealth sound just as warm as on the Arya, with the bass being more pronounced in the He1000 Stealth, reducing my need to use EQ. The opposite is true for some acoustic tracks, where I tend to reduce the bass frequencies while the Arya Stealth requires a boost.
    When comparing the HE1000 v2 and the HE1000 Stealth, it can be stated that the latter model provides a more engaging and coherent listening experience, while the HE1000 v2, despite its advantage in spatiality, sounds relatively thinner and does not bring the same depth and enjoyment to the listening experience.
    For the time being, I have decided to keep both the Arya Stealth and the HE1000 Stealth in my collection to provide a collaborative music listening experience.

    • @wavetheorysound
      @wavetheorysound  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      D8kpro has some of the most realistic sounding bass I've ever heard and is pretty good in the staging department too. It has too much energy in the 2-3khz range for me though and I found it hollow sounding with lots of shouty vocals. So on bass accuracy and maybe spatial holography (been awhile since I heard it) it's the superior to HekV2se. But in sounding natural through the mids but still having great spatial presentation and bass accuracy, I overall prefer the HekV2se.

    Hey man, I must admit that since I heard about your collaboration with Hifiman I wasn't sure if you'd be able to stay (as) objective (as a reviewer can be); however, as an owner of the HEKse who's got temporary access to the HEK Stealth I'm happy to report that your comparison of the two is pretty much spot-on. The Stealth is a lovely headphone, a little V- or U-shaped with a soundstage that to my ears is a bit HD800-like. It is quite bright and unlike the HEKse, the Stealth sounds more like it's got peaks at particular frequencies as opposed to an elevation of the entire region, which to my ears is more fatiguing and not necessarily more convincing.
    The HEKse is more laid-back where the entire frequency range appears to be more cohesive - I think that this is what you meant by the HEKse being more natural overall. Its soundstage is also closer to me, without the artificial HD800-like effect, and embraces me much more, with the sounds coming from seemingly more sources around me - which matches your description of the sound. There is more space around each note with the HEKse whereas the Stealth, although the overall soundstage is huge, comes across as if there was limited holography for each sound, not allowing them to fully spread their wings.
    The HEKse is not perfect, though - its lovely airiness makes certain sounds come out a bit too thin and sounding a little "off". It's usually a trade-off worth paying for the lovely soundstage and presentation but some tracks do sound more right and "together" on the Stealth due to its different tuning.
    I also feel that the HEKse brings me much closer to the individual sounds, making me feel like there's less between me and the music (transparency) whereas the Stealth makes me feel as if I was listening to a loudspeaker system. Still, the HEKse is not quite capable of making me feel the same connection with each individual sound that I have with the Utopia (OG). I'm wondering if it's due to the planar driver and the inherent timbre of it which just doesn't quite convince me as much as the Utopia's tactility does.
    Would you say that the Susvara does in fact get rid of all obstacles between me and the sound, matching or surpassing the Utopia, or is it too ethereal-sounding to be capable of convincing the listener that the sounds are real? In other words, I'm wondering if the Susvara in your experience is basically the HEKse but with better mids, less bass and a smaller soundstage, or if it manages to escape the "planar trap" (highly detailed but not really believable sound) and thus be a very significant improvement on the HEKse in this regard.
    Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

      @@wavetheorysound I've got a Burson 3XP which has lots of power and I've made it sound much better than in stock form by putting it in power-amp mode (volume control is bypassed which makes a big difference) and by adding the Super Charger (also, surprisingly, made a big difference). My Utopia is very good at telling me what changes have taken place, hence I'm quite confident that it's a good quality amp, sound-wise (especially compared to my previous Topping A90).

      I've been on the fence between the Stealth and the HEKse for a long time now. Normally I'd get the HEKse (I'm looking for an ethereal and immediate kind of sound, mainly), but the thing is that I'm on a mid-tier system with a Gustard H16 which I'm pretty sure won't take advantage of the HEKse's capabilities and will likely make it sound on the thin and maybe even on brittle side. I'm thinking that the HE1000 Stealth might be a reasonable concession considering the tuning tends more towards the warmer side of things and that it'll work with my system better and sound better with a wider range of genres.

      @@yamato1420 I think that your observations make a lot of sense. What DAC are you using? And what's your current headphones or what headphones have you heard so far and what do you like and dislike about them?

    • @yamato1420

      @@MistaLova-Lova Well, I have a somewhat weird setup where I take dongle DACs and run them through a small USB power isolator which cleans up junk from the USB connection of my PC. Then I have a 4.4 to dual XLR cable which goes from the dongle DAC to the H16. These dongle DACs punch way above the price once you clean up their power supply, as they don't have the filtering and clocking abilities of normal desktop units. Anyway, I'm using the Cayin RU7 right now, wonderful 1-Bit DAC which is similar to an R2R in a lot of ways, but more technical than most R2R's.
      I've had the majority of Hifiman's lineup under $1K. Right now I'm using the Ananda Nano and Arya Stealth. The Arya Stealth is more refined than the Nano in some specific ways, but I prefer the sound of the Nano. It's more direct and forward and it also punches way harder than the Arya. I do like the way the Arya does air frequencies, although the Arya is a bit too tame for me. One thing is that the Nano is a bit too dry for me. When I put on vocals or tracks with fun bass lines, it doesn't feel full and enveloping like the Arya can do to a certain extent. The Arya is also better at fine gradations in bass, which I think contributes to this a lot. When I had the Ananda Stealth before the Nano (I did a review of the Nano on Head-Fi, you can check it out), it was tuned beautifully with just the right amount of highs, and good amount of sweetness and warmth. But, at the same time, it sounded muted dynamically compared to the Nano or even the Stealth, and on the wrong track which required some heavier-hitting bass, it sounded thin and even brittle. I'm sure good amping alleviates this, which I guess is why some people didn't catch it. Fundamentally, I suppose I want my headphones to sound immersive. Like as if you're there, getting a feeling for whatever you're listening to.

    I'd really like to understand where my OG HE-500 fits in to the HifiMan pantheon. I've dipped my toe in to upgrading but the cans I've tried all fell flat (LCD X, GL2000, TH610, Edition XS, DCA Aeon X, DT880/990 600 Ohm, HD Zeus, Elex, etc.) - the OG 500 kills it.

You just said a few seconds ago that it is a very slight improvement in all categories... That is not worth $1500. It just seems you're saying the more you're putting in the better you're going to get from Hifiman which is not true. At the Arya SE mark you're pretty much just paying for different tunings, not really an increase in build quality or sound. Its just choosing your taste at that point.

    Anyone can answer this :
    I'm using Edition xs. I wanna upgrade. please suggest some headphones.
    My preferences are:
    1. more forward depth in the sound stage which puts the singer in front of me. (Not left and right side)
    2. Bass slam / punch.

    • @blorg8206
      @blorg8206 ปีที่แล้ว

      These are an upgrade from the Edition XS in those areas, it's very good and already 90% there though, all the Hifiman egg headphones are quite similar to each other and it's not a huge difference. But it is better, and I think does have SLIGHTLY better soundstage and SLIGHTLY more bass punchiness. Soundstage is very personal though and the Edition XS already has one of the best of any headphone, if you really want "singer in front" it's probably time to look at speakers, if the Edition XS doesn't do it for you I doubt another headphone will. It's a fundamental limitation. It's like a TINY bit better on the HE1000 Stealth, not radically different.

      These are substantially better, far more natural sounding. LCD-X 2021 is very dark and muffled comparatively. These have much better soundstage. The one thing the LCD-X 2021 maybe does better is bass impact but even that, these compete in, they are surprisingly punchy for a headphone with such big soundstage and probably have better extension. Totally different class of headphone though, I'd put this next level up from the LCD-X. It's better than the Utopia for me, I have HE1000 Stealth, LCD-X, Utopia, this is the best of them.
