Reminds me of another game. If you've ever played rogue spear, then you will know that the enemy combatants shoot with their eyes. Meaning, when they stand behind a container and spot you, they will shoot you without even raising their weapon above the container. You will just see their eyes, top of head and fire coming your way.
Just out of curisoity I looked up the manufacturer of the depth gauge, they still exist today. Sadly, no longer in hamburg, my hometown, but, they are still in business. Just a neat side note.
If you're going into the med expecting any kind of stable weather and/or wave conditions, you're in the wrong damn ocean. It looks nice and small and friendly on a map or a tourist resort postcard but can get extremely erratic thanks to heavy influence from nearby land. It'll never have the _intensity_ of weather you can get in e.g. the north atlantic or the indian ocean but it can flip on you within minutes.

Reading some of the comments on here and it never ceases to amaze me how many dumb questions get asked 😂, must give Wolfpack a headache reading some of em.
Depends on the ammo used. As someone else has said, that was not 20mm but rifle/MG ammo - the Brits have long held that the best way to shoot down German planes is to weight them down with so much .303 bullets that they get to heavy to fly. :)
Wolfpack, your production and editing skills are top notch as usual. I would also compliment you on your ability to mod SH3 so skillfully. Modding SH3 is never without its bugs and takes a good deal of tinkering to get it right. Bravo and keep up the good work!
Hey man I'm a new subscriber to your vids and maybe this is going to show my age (52) a little bit, but I continue to be amazed at how realistic video games have become. Think about it... pretty dang far beyond Silent Service on the NES, and Ace Combat on the PS2!! LOL. But to get to my point, I don't want to take up a lot of your time I'm sure you have lots of these questions and comments to read and maybe respond to.. I've been fascinated with submarines and how to truly utilize them well, and fight the boat and get back to port somewhat intact just to refuel, rearm, and restock the boat and go do it again made this era of submarine/U-Boat technology almost an art form. You con your boat well in my opinion btw..I did think you were too aggressive for opposing forces and shallow water in episode 3, no offense... kinda lucky to get away with it I thought but luck absolutely has its own place in warfare and very skilled dodging the depth charges until they finally ran out played a big part in your luck! Anyway I will finish up by telling you I'm really enjoying the show so far and I'm pretty much already hooked on this I'm serious!! LOL like I said submarines have always fascinated me and your ability to operate the game is equally fascinating Herr Captain! I'll be watching 👍

Hey wolfpack, when you encounter destroyers, try not to immediately go to great depths and wait for them to approach and try to hit them with torpedoes when they approach around 1000m and only then go deeper because you have a chance to hit them and I say from my own experience because I won many battles in this way! By the way I love your content keep it up!❤
I sometimes do this with a stern electric torpedo at magnetic pistol. Though I'd reckon me doing that would be worthy of mutiny if the subsim could do so 😅

Also, what mods are you using, where did the engine and torpedo rooms comw from, and your free roaming camera? I should love those features in my game. @@_R-Ri got a Revell 1:350 mark VII uboot for less than £10. Makes for a great little sidekick next to my 1:350 OHP, Oscar-2 and 688i class. Really gives a sense of scale, and you can probably make it in a weekend if you wish.
There's a lot of really nice little things to this mod, though it can be a real b***h keeping yourself alive. Which is fine, brings it closer to what things would actually be like. But the game is still holding up really well despite its age. Largely due to the modders, but also because the core gameplay is about as good as it gets.

For some reason i cant seem to activate the tools to calculate the torpedo solution, i have the same mod but it keeps calculating like in vainilla, do i need to install something else besides gwx onealex edition?
Something I don’t get is, why not attack the destroyer first, remove the threat, and then engage the freighter ? Is there a reason you do things the other way around ?
The freighter is probably about three times the mass of the destroyer and torpedoes are limited, even more so considering the failure rate. Also you wear out an enemy by hitting logistics, not war machines. And then considering he was in some pretty deep waters the destroyers themselves aren't really that great of a threat. It'll most likely be an airplane that will be the end of Wolfpack :)
You can do that, but the tonnage war was exactly that. The freighter is slow and keeps a constant course: easy to hit. The destroyer is shallow drafted, fast(er) and bound to bob and weave, all of which makes the shot more difficult. And unless you cripple the destroyer you poke the bear. Also, they tend to have and use ASDIC and may “see” you before you get into shooting position. So your choice is: get the tonnage and get away while the DD has to pick up your trail or *maybe* get the DD and: Get it, sink the freighter (using 2 torpedoes instead of one) Miss it and get hunted with the DD already on your trail, while you still are shallow … and no chance of getting the freighter.
These vids are awesome man! So awesome that I decided to download the game and try to master it like you have! I downloaded the onealex mod pack and installed everything correctly like the tutorial video says, but whenever I try to start the first mission the game gets stuck on the loading screen for ages. Have you ever experienced this issue? Is there any way you could point me in the right direction or someone that could help me fix this issue? Thanks for all the cool naval videos!
Just an FYI Wolfpack - the new UBOAT updates make it AMAZING for storytelling :) You get to know what ship you sunk where it was registered what it carried as well as if it had a false flag (last ship I sunk was a US transport with fuel traveling with a false Portuguese flag) Gotta love SH III though one of the best sims out there.
Example: War Pindari sunk! Our sources inform us that the ship was headed from Halifax to Liverpool with oil in the cargo holds the ship's GRT was 6077 tons. It was a registered ship of Great Britain but it flies a false flag of Portugal. Note to self: Normally Swiss flags are not fake...but hey sinking 5 Swiss ships didn't feel too bad 😏
@@KermitTheGamer21 yes, you can train the crew after getting experience (has to be specialized crew members you promote) They compare the info vs where the ship is etc and you can tell. However, in my case I check the notes after I sink the ships 😏
I don't get how a hurricane went that far. In 1941 there isn't a hurricane capable of flying that far. You were in the midpoint between Malta, and tobruk. That is a mistake in the game.
Historically the lead escort ship in a task force/convoy always zigzags to prevent a torpedo attack on itself, it’s represented by the ai in this as well

you got lucky those were hurricanes mk 1/L, that model has 8 0.308 mgs (rifle caliber guns); 20mm hispanos would have done way more damage
