    The Rocky Road Outfitters rock sliders have failed me. They were great until I actually put them to work sliding on rocks. They bent upwards and now I can barely open my doors.
    The worst part is that Rocky Road will not honor their lifetime guarantee. I've been in phone and email communication with them since Nov 12 2022, and they have yet to offer a solution. If you want nice looking sidesteps they are fine, but if you want sliders make sure you go with a weld-on product.

      I gotta say it’s a crazy coincidence I’m watching this video again and your update on the rock sliders came up. Regardless your a man of your word and thanks for letting others know as I was actually curious about them and if they would actually hold up. But with that said is there any other brand/company you recommend? Or is it just best to fabricate your own.

      @@treehouseoffroad I’d agree with Scott. I owned an 05 Sequoia from 2016-2018 and there wasn’t any inspiration like this out there.

      @@rmracer527 Thank you bro! The quick-disconnect sway bar links work great for a few months but the ball joints ultimately bend and distort just enough to make them difficult to remove by hand (which was the whole point). With the total chaos long travel kit it eliminates the so I don't have a sway bar now. And it still handles amazingly. I kept breaking those links every time I would go off road. And I believe it does give you a little more travel articulation. I got the metal pick stringers lower control arms for the rear. This is the third time I've watched this video. Lol
    You did an amazing job.

    Wow. This is a properly built truck. I love all your high quality custom fabrication and the excellent detail in this video.
    I just bought an 05 Sequoia limited 4x4 with 179k miles for $8500. One colorado owner and very well maintained. I am very familiar with 4runners, but the 1st gen Sequoia/Tundra world is less familiar to me. Ive been researching suspension options for quite a while now. Im planning on building a very basic overland/camping truck with no added weight. I'll be driving off road in the rockies a lot, but no crazy rock crawling. So I really only want like 1.5" lift, as i dont need more and want to maintain good road manners.
    Im consudering a bunch of options right now. Dobinsons twin tubes, Dobinsons IMS, Bilstein 6112, Eibach pro lift, Fox 2.0, OME. I really don't know what to go with. I tend to like a softer more floaty ride in a truck over stiff or "sporty". My biggest concern is small bump compliance at slow speeds, mainly rocks and washboards, as that will make up the majority of my off road driving. No crazy crawling, no hugh speed desert stuff, no jumping the 6000lb sequoia. 🤯 I moslty want something that isnt teeth shattering on washboards. Ive read that Fox is probably the best for that as a progressive valved shock. But i dont want something that needs to be pulled off the truck and rebuilt roughly every 50k miles either. Not sure what to do for suspension

      Yes, very little info out there on these trucks, part of the reason I started my channel. With most of the Landcruisers and 4runners having over 300k miles and/or priced through the roof, I foresee a surge in people buying the Sequoia/Tundra to build out. Tire size video isn't a bad idea at all thanks

    TO TREEHOUSE OVERLAND: I really enjoyed your video, learned a lot about the Sequoia as you modified it. Good video production, good narration, good views using your camera, nice pacing, good content tips, etc. I am also impressed by your total Overlanding rig (as shown in still photos showing the tent, awning, etc.). And, while I enjoyed the technical stuff, I was also impressed (pleased) to see a bunch of kids enjoying the camping adventures your family are taking. I love to camp too, did so in a similar tent with my parents when i was a boy, and think its great when a family does it together. Good job sir! I liked the video and your presentation so much I subscribed and hope to learn more from you. I don't own a Sequoia yet, but hope to in a year or two.

      Yes some of my best childhood memories are of camping with my family. My kids really love the rooftop tent (as much of a pain in the ass it is to setup/teardown) so I figure we better use it before they're too big to sleep up there! Thanks for your kind words.

    “Gotta let ‘‘em know I’m not a 4Runner” lol I can’t tell you how many times the black monster gets called a 4runner on a daily basis. But the shock on peoples faces when I let them know it’s sequoia is worth it. I wish I was able to get it to Michigan for the summer so I could continue my build but I’ll get back to it eventually. Blowing up the rear diff showing off at the end of the trail that day hurt but my friend sold his rubicon that fallowing week after getting schooled by the monster only running 2wd (no front cv’s) on all the same obstacles he was using lockers and 4lo for so I considered it a win.

    • @treehouseoffroad
      @treehouseoffroad  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah for real. It only happens with people that don't really know trucks though so whatever.
      How did you blow your rear diff? I been pondering throwing in an '07 tundra rear with the monstrous 10.5" ring gear, but I just re-geared to 529's and added an E-locker so I'll see how it holds up.

    • @theclan4adventures
      @theclan4adventures 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@treehouseoffroad e locker will solve the problem the stock diff holds up fine under normal circumstances..my friends talked me into taking the truck out with no front shafts and after wheeling all day schooling everyone on how bad ass a sequoia really is even with just 2wd on the last obstacle of the day my buddy in his rubicon tries a hard line in 2wd gets stuck switches to 4wd lo 4:1 transfer case by the way 35’s on teraflex kit turns lockers on and finishes the obstacle. In a foolish attempt to show him up I take the hardest line possible and fail the first attempt at crawl speed so I back up switch to 4lo (no front shafts though) to use the reduction and against my better judgment I floored it in drive …truck clicked at least 4 gears and up we went… all 7 people and a full load of gear.. hit the top step on a bounce and the spider gears let go twisting the driver shaft at the splines too lol hence my age old physically of if you can’t crawl up you don’t belong up .. but in my defense I made it up and he sold his Jeep the following week lol

    I’ve saved your video for a lot of references, I like your approach to things! I’m stuck in a dilemma, wanted to know what your thoughts are? I need a new vehicle and ran into it really good deal for a tundra with 90k miles 06 in really good condition and couldn’t pass up for the money The issue with it it’s that it’s 2wd. We camp quite a bit, but I would like to do more of Overlanding, i’ve dropped some money on the truck leveled it out with 6112’s put a midrise shell on it with roof rack and awnings on both sides and build a carpet kit with a pull out kitchen set up, Long story to try to make it shorter I’m not a rock crawler, but do you think rebuilding the limited slip on the truck or lock in the back would be enough to try to be a little more adventurous ?? And would more articulation on the front, help my traction on the rear?

    • @treehouseoffroad
      @treehouseoffroad  ปีที่แล้ว

      A rear locker would definitely make the truck more capable, but nothing like a 4x4. And yes in my experience more articulation = keeping tires on the ground = more traction. You might get more into this off-road thing and end up buying a 4x4 down the line though 😂
