Bumper build part 2 • Coastal Offroad Dual S...
In this video I build the High Clearance Rear Bumper by Coastal Offroad for the 1st Generation Toyota Sequoia. I mainly focus on the passenger side, but both sides are identical. This is not an instructional video on how to weld, as I am still an amateur. I use a Lincoln flux-core process, but shortened and/or sped up all the welding sequences, and did not show the slag removal. I also show very little prep work, beveling, or grinding, but much of it was involved. I did not film the removal of the bumper cover, as this is easily searchable on TH-cam.
I paid full price for everything in this video. I have had a great experience with this company and feel confident recommending them. The customer service and especially the communication has been outstanding.
Great video on removing the Rear Bumper Cover (Great channel in general)

I just recently/ randomly picked up an 01 4wd sequoia & you sir got yerself a subscriber!!!
Dude I wish I coulda been at you house with a MagicMarket / cardboard & made a copy of this kit !! L😀L
Yeah they are great kits! Very well thought out and they go together really easily!
Nice. Thank you!!
You got it man!
You can use coat hangers as fill rods for welding those gaps. Lay the rod across the opening and tack it on one end. Then weld right along it, the gap will fill in nicely.
Wouldn't the plastic smoke and melt and make a mess though?
@@treehouseoffroad Is there plastic around the metal coat hangers? I think he meant the metal coat hangers not plastic ones. Either way I like the tip!
@@jamiethomas8975 Ohhhhh, the metal ones...🤦♂
lol
I tried looking for your front bumper build. I got a front bumper coming and I was hoping you had one.
I was not recording back then but if you find a 4runner video I'm sure they're very similar
Thanks for the tip on cutting those pieces to fill those gaps. Mine was exactly the same way so I was ready to take care of it after watching your video.
Glad to help, did you have to smash the bottom body corners in like me or no?
@@treehouseoffroad yes sir.
@@MidlifeAdventurer weird, I forget who it was but somebody told me they did not have to cut the corners
Can't wait for the swing out video
Just finished building it! Off to powder coating soon. So much editing to do...
Thanks for the support man!
Turned out great.. nice work.
Appreciate it man thank you
been waiting for this video! awesome work!
Thanks so much! I'm humbled I've been watching your channel for a year and a half!
@@treehouseoffroad thanks for being a loyal follower. I envious of where you’ve got your sequoia. I haven’t decided yet if we’re going to do bumpers for ourselves. Good to know you’ve got some good content on doing the job. Might come in handy later.
U rocked it ..I did front bumper need to do back with swingouts this month
Hell yeah man kill it!
Very nice!
Thanks for watching man!
Looking Good
Hey thanks man, part 2 is almost ready
Love it brother 🤙
Thanks brother!
Great video! Love the intro
Thanks brother!
Thank you for the great video, especially sharing your F* ups. We're all learning together, much appreciated.
You're welcome! I appreciate seeing the f* ups on other peoples videos too
muy bien ese trabajo
tengo que hacer lo mismo con la mia
Gracias Amigo
Hey Finn did you use a flux core welder on this bumper build and your tire swingout?
Yessir
@@treehouseoffroad Good to know. I’m getting ready to weld together a tire swing out kit for my Sequoia. Did you ever weld those Rocky Road rockslides to your frame?
Looking at 1 of these for my 1st gen tundra. I wasn't sure what type.of weilder to use. I'm a novice but have a couple of welders my dad gave me. I would have removed the bumper after taking everything to do the full welds, would have saved burning your paint!
I removed the front one for welding and it ended up distorting pretty bad. It was a PITA trying to install it. I thought this time I'd try something new, but I should've used a welding blanket.
Live and learn!
Hey phin, nice channel. You'll have to show me how. Headed to harbor freight again today. Call you later.
Thanks Adam, Harbor Freight is my second home!
the front and rear bumper come in pieces? it doesn't come on complete ready to bolt?
Correct, they come unassembled
Is the bumper built in for a tow hitch?
It does have a hitch receiver yes
it is truly sad this the only offering out there for a rear bumper
Yeah it's a bummer there's not more aftermarket support for these trucks, but I predict that will change in the near future. Brute Force Fab also makes one fyi. Thanks for watching.
@@treehouseoffroad they have a good front end model but id love to see more offerings for the rear
@@christianwolf68BFF makes a rear but you have to call to order it. th-cam.com/video/IBhZTZBD-zA/w-d-xo.html

due to the hurricanes here in louisiana every year ive been setting up a 05 sequoia to deal with all the down trees and possible storm surge flood
Do you happen to still have your stock bumper
Nope sold it
Sucks you had to cut original parts of the bumper, I feel it's lazy on the engineering by literally cutting corners.
Probably to get the best departure angle possible, hence the "high-clearance" part. I could see this being a deal breaker for some folks but I'm all in at this point so I'm cool with it.
Thanks for watching
