I understood that Coleman never actually said that specifically it was Chris B doing spitting image character that started it similar to some other people who were given catch phrases they never said from that show...."and why not?"
The thing about when Rimmer gets stuck in the door is that that's the take they used. It was such a dramatic scene and with Chris nailing the tension of the moment so well that, if you notice, they cut just after he kicks the door; so that was the one they kept in.
3:30 I wish they'd left that in. Even in a dramatic scene, it could have worked. Robert Llewellyn had a TH-cam series, which is still up, called Carpool, in which he interviews celebs in his car (basically Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee but Robert did it first. I don't know if you reacted to them on Patreon but there are also the two Red Dwarf U.S. pilots and the documentary about them, Dwarfing USA.
You guys should start watching the web series Carpool with Robert Llewelyn (who plays Kryten). He's a really good at casual interviews, plus all the episodes are free on TH-cam.
When the VHS was released of the Smeg Ups, it was presented by Kryten with some setups to all the out takes. It’s a shame that footage never made it onto digital media.
Thanks for this. :) I loved the delight at hearing Robert's real voice. That always impressed me about him, how he usually keeps up the accent even after a mistake has been made.
Gals, if you really want to hear more of Robert’s real voice you could try watching some of his other work, such as his work as the main presenter of the series “Scrapheap Challenge “, a channel 4 series that was copied by an American company. They also made at least one series that pitched winning team’s from both sides of the Atlantic, against one another, again presented by Robert.
The Smeg ups I find are just as funny and enjoyable as the main show! The bottle bursting smeg up always makes me laugh, Robert's reaction make it! Also how have I only just noticed the Mr Flibble prompted up there behind you both! 😳
Not sure if anyone has mentioned it but Danny John Jules is in another series called "Death in Paradise" that while it's not sci-fi it's still worth a watch.
It would be amazing if they redid the opening Gallifrey Gals song at the beginning. To Gals from the dwarf instead for the red dwarf reactions that would be brilliant would only need to change the words. Gals from the dwarf 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Im sure someones mentioned this before but Robert Llewellyn aka Kryten has his own TH-cam channel named "Fully Charged" it covers all things green energy with a focus on EVs.
The old Smeg-ups tape was the first piece of Red Dwarf media I consumed, and I can't for the life of me find the additional bits where they had Robert Llewellyn as Kryten
The 4-year wait idea was a funny goof - don't mind the change in schedule this week, glad y'all feel able to switch things up when needed rather than being stuck in an ironclad schedule
Its a good way to gauge a shows true greatness when the out takes and muck ups are as funny if not even more so than the show itself. Ive mentioned it before, there's Robs YT series from 14 years back called Car Pool (kinda ahead of its time when you think of it), where he takes actors to the BBC and interviews them while on the car ride there, 3 of them are with his fellow RD actors and he's also got one with Rob Grant (co creator of RD) If you want a funny and insightful listen to Robs and Dannys (Cats) real voices its a fun way to pass 10 minutes or so, also nice to just see the actors being themselves in real life settings... audio though is ear breaking lol and your left ear will attempt to divorce you.
You are the first reactors I've ever seen doing Red Dwarf. I used to talk about this show with people at work and I'd get the strangest expressions. In fact, I've never met anyone whose even seen the show. I also remember how long it took me to click to Danny John-Jules being on another great little show called Death in Paradise.
Fully understand, and no need to apologise for uploading this rather than the regular stuff (besides, seeing you watch this is delightful) If you want to hear Robert's normal (and singing!) voice in a comedic context, I've mentioned this before but prior to Red Dwarf he was part of a stage sketch group, The Joeys, of which a handful of sketches exist on youtube. (Why so small? Prior to ubiquitous recording tech so you've only got the stuff that was recorded for television). If you want him in a non-comedic, more modern, context, he was the presenter of the UK Scrapheap Challenge, which is the UK version of... I think it was called Junkyard Wars in the US? And has been on a bunch of youtube videos across various channels talking mostly about electric vehicles and low-emission tech which he's really into.
The bullets falling in frame reminded me of a moment in Supernatural (S2 I think) that was mentioned in a commentary of an episode. Jared Padelecki's character Sam was visiting someone in a hospital and found them dead, the scene called for him dropping his coffee cup in frame in slow motion while he raced to their bedside. They had to shoot so many dropped cups that when they finally nailed it Padelecki was so happy he couldn't help but smile, even though his character (who you could see in the background of the same shot) was supposed to be heartbroken. I think for the final edit they cut around his smile. Also, in the movie Fight Club where "Jack" comes home to find the crew have just carried out Project Mayhem, they are all watching the news and one member throws a beer can to another, who catches it and smiles despite being a stressful moment - because they had to shoot that throw and catch so many times that the actor was finally happy to have caught it.
This is a small clip from the smeg ups video. I've got it some where and one day I'll put it onto my computer and share it with you gals! th-cam.com/video/ntHWn6qp9o4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Ol1WRtkghKwAW21U

I don't know if you can get hold of it ( or maybe you've done the night for patrons) but Universe Challenge ( a University Challenge style quiz between the cast and fans ) is a lot of fun and you should be able to have a go at all the answers .
Might make sense for Kat and Paula to wait until after series 8 for that then they could have a proper good try at answering the questions at the same time as watching it as well. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

As an aside, are you two aware of Robert Llewellyn's youtube channel where he did interviews in his electric cars back when those were a novelty? Chris Barrie also did a pilot + one more or two episodes of a car centric panel show that has one of the single greatest lines from a guest on British television (it's a posh spice joke). Both are mid 2000s fare.
13:30 Chicken; 'What's going on? Why am I here? What's my motivation?😆 🐔 Glad you are not following our advice to wait 4 years like we did 🤣 See you at the next reaction. 👍

Having a week off doing the normal stuff to address other stuff that needs doing, or just for a break isn't anything to apologise for. That's just good management 😁 (Also I'm excited to get this bonus episode!)
Gals from the dwarf give us some brilliant extra stuff series 6 smeg ups there a brilliant watch the smeg up are brilliant 👍👍👍👍👍👍. @@Lukas-ld3vx The first two episodes of Series VII are great but afterwards starting from the third episode that's where it all gets down hill from there in my opinion.
Seven does have some great moments after episode two , but it is a bit of a shock and things do change a lot . I think given the circumstances it wasn't that bad .
Craig Charles yelling, "what do I do now dad" never fails to crack me up.
The group saying 'extraordinary' together is a reference to British sports presenter David Coleman who used the word a LOT.
It’s funny how Chris isn’t the one who starts it, considering he voiced Coleman in ‘Spitting Image’.
"Extraordinary" and "Remarkable"
I understood that Coleman never actually said that specifically it was Chris B doing spitting image character that started it similar to some other people who were given catch phrases they never said from that show...."and why not?"

honestly, the series 6 smeg ups are probably the funniest of the entire history of the show, so glad this made it to youtube!
"At least Mr. Guitar survived intact."
