I went to the A Lange store yesterday. Everything except the Datograph is there. They are happy to take orders for the Datograph for anyone. I then went to Rolex store to ask for the Daytona. You can't take orders as they now have a preferred client list. To be honest with the same kind of money I would rather spend it on A Lange. You can also get a second hand good conditioned A Lange for a great decent price. Something for people to actually consider.
David B I would put Omega up beside Rolex , if you want bling then Rolex if you want a movement you go with Omega , Omega doesn’t keep their price as a Rolex does but that’s just to down to ignorance Thanks

I think even a blue suede strap especially in a rough out suede to complement the minute and hour hands would do a great job in making this piece look contemporary and casual for ensembles other than a tailored jackets and elegant accessories such as dress shoes.
To me a perfect watch is one that’s comfortable, keeps good time, durable, known brand, holds value, waterproof, works in every situation. That’s Rolex.
Great review AB. Such a beautiful watch although I could never afford one it doesn't hurt to look at admire such craftsmanship. I di wish it were smaller like 36mm which for me is the perfect size. 6:45 someone has twisted the upper left screw to hard that it have changed form. Just a notice from a watchmaker ;) Other-vice I love the 1815, I am in a difficult situation, I have a Rolex Day Date 18038 as my more dressier watch but I sometimes get the feeling that I should sell it and get a PP Calatrava, Lange 1815, VC Patrimony. But then again I love the DD.

See if you can get that in for review; after you hold one of those in your hand, you will most likely never look at high-end watchmaking the same way again! 😂

You say the current base 1815 (with the L051.1 Calibre movement) has a case diameter of 40 mm. You are wrong. According to Lange itself, the diameter is 38.5 mm. The more expensive “Homage to Walter Lange” has a case diameter of 40.5 mm. My own 1815 Up Down (latest edition) is 39 mm.
