    I was actually hoping that you would paint without toning the canvass because I use acrylics. Your tutorials are really great and informative. I am just a trying hard to learn😊. You're one of the best tutors online. Thank you.

    Very useful tutorial on keeping your palette simplified in order to yield a cohesive painting. (I have yellow oxide and didn't think to incorporate it into blues, greens and greys as you've shown us, here, Sam.) I don't have quin crimson & wonder if another colour would fit in with this palette; I suppose I should experiment more and find out. Thanks.

    • @SamuelEarpArtist
      @SamuelEarpArtist  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad it was helpful! You can use alizarin crimson, the only reason I am not using it is because the brand of paint I use don't make it, so I use quinacridone crimson instead 😊

    • @ClariceAust
      @ClariceAust 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SamuelEarpArtist Wonderful; I certainly do have alizarin crimson and will use that along with the other colours. Thank you. :)

    Hi Sam just came across your tutorial, you are so clear& pricise,I really enjoy watching you.As I am still trying to master techniques, thank you for great tips,I am improving by watching you.
    Question.
    I have trouble painting rocks,, should I use knife always,or both ...what colour is is best??

    • @SamuelEarpArtist
      @SamuelEarpArtist  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Margaret. I normally paint rocks with brushes and I find flat brushes are best. Yellow ochre, burnt sienna, ultramarine blue, alizarin crimson and titanium white are great colours to use for rocks 😊

    Hi Sam, loved this video, I'm trying to use less colour too. I use blue, yellow, red white titanium white, but use burnt under too, is there a reason you don't use burnt umber? Just curious.. Thanks Alan 👍

    • @SamuelEarpArtist
      @SamuelEarpArtist  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Alan, the reason I haven't been using burnt umber is mainly because I haven't needed to but also because it's too easy to muddy colours with it. You can make a similar colour to burnt umber by combining ultramarine blue and burnt sienna. Burnt sienna is a dark orange and orange is opposite to blue on the colour wheel. Burnt umber is a very dark yellow. 😊

    • @ABE64
      @ABE64 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SamuelEarpArtist thanks for that. Useful info too. Is there a way to achieve a yellow ochre by mixing? I'm trying to paint with less colours, I'm trying to go for harmony and less is more I think 🤔
