I think my dog is a Christian too. She has unconditional love. Greets me every morning before work and every evening when I get home. I've even told her Jesus loves you & she makes special noises of contentment. The only problems we've had in our relationship is invading my space when I get a midnight snack.

I appreciate this conversation today and the banter between John and Lisa. As a Christian woman, I can only recall a few different men who knew how to model healthy, Biblical leadership that I would want to submit to in that way. Many people who talk about submission see it as one sided, but dying to yourself everyday for your spouse like Christ died for the church is no small calling or responsibility.

Fascinating video, Let's stop taking relationship and family for granted. I have battled depression since my wife left me. I have tried all I can to make her see that I love her with everything I am made of but she has insisted on leaving. This has made me so empty, and I do not know what to do. I can barely function properly at work. I am frustrated and miserable. I really miss her.

I find myself at a crossroads, feeling a deep yearning for marriage yet an even stronger pull towards the pursuit of God. This balance between my desire for companionship and my commitment to my faith creates a unique harmony. While I dream of sharing a life-long love with one particular woman, I know that my love for God transcends everything else. My heart is set on following Him, trusting that if it's His will, He might one day bless me with a partner. But until then, I'm content in my devotion to God, leaving all else in His hands.

What’s “good-looking?” What I find attractive someone else won’t. Dating for Christians is a battle between the flesh and the Spirit (Holy Spirit). What we want for us, isn’t necessarily what God wants for us. All is not lost! Because if we seek the Will of God, He Will line up someone fantastic for us, a life long companion. And it will be a pleasant surprise!

I’m glad their testimony gave you strength. In my case, any advice rings hollow when given by someone who’s never lived it. It would’ve been more impactful to bring on a widow/er and let that person say the same thing. I’m an immigrant and appreciate when locals give me advice but there’s certain type of advice that’s more meaningful when a local who’s lived overseas gives it because that person has a deeper understanding of my situation. All the more so with spiritual advice.

@@sushimamba4281to be honest, the church elevates marriage too much... it seems like people in the church don't think you can have a whole, loving, Godly life unless you are married.

I've come to learn that dating is not Gods intention for us anyway. Even though it can be done without premarital sex, you still get your heart broken one way or another. No man or woman is an "option"; we are special and God truley is the ultimate matchmaker if we'd only listen to Him.

Even with sex off the table, there's still an incredible amount of intimacy and "unifying" that happens in the dating process, and most people dont even know what to look for to build a lasting relationship. But I didn’t click to hear marriage advice. I came to get perspective on why Christian dating can seem weird. (I appreciate your ministry. IV enjoyed this video so much, I appreciate how you love each other and IV been taken back to a place of the idea of pure love. Being a divorcee and trying to date again ( mostly my fellow divorcees), I realize that most of us are so injured that we don't know how to be selfless anymore, we are looking for our benefit mostly than look for wat we can give to others. Most of us are so corrupted with anger and hurt from our past marriages and divorce processes...it's just so refreshing and heavenly to see you two go over each other on how you do things to please the other more than self. Bless your hearts.

Your podcast has been one of my healing place to listen to. I pray you can make more episode about everything. And also can you make an episode about women being symbol of sin? I figure it's a perfect episode since it's women's month. ❤ I really wanna hear some insight from the holy spirit.

Thank you, John & Lisa, for the authenticity you bring in being yourselves and coming together to share common sense wisdom from above regarding relationships of marriage and singlehood. Your message definitely resonated with me. And thank you for your prayer at the end, John. Going through some challenging times in my marriage. I am thankful for the "tuition" and coursework that the Lord has taken me on during this season of trial and growth. Blessings to you both and to your family and your ministry!

Mabuhay from the Philippines! I am a widow now for 11 years and at times, I feel the loneliness of having no partner to joke with or go out with since I was blessed to have a husband who was both my best friend, my lover and my partner in missions. But I love the way you mentioned how we should enjoy each season given to us. And by God's grace, I am enjoying my singleness and trying to focus on how the Lord would still use me more in my senior years. (I am 68) 🙏. God bless you both and I won't ever forget Affabel: Window of Eternity, because it was the 1st time we knew about you and my husband and I listened to it before bedtime when we had our mission in Malta. And we were both affected by it that I saw my husband cried. Then we made sure we shared this with our small church when we went back to the Philippines .Thank God for you both. 🙏🙏🙏

My favourite quote from this: "If a guy called me and said 'do you want to go out?' I'd say, 'and do what?'' and if he's say, 'I dunno, just hang out' I'd say 'Why don't you call me back when you've thought out the evening?'" Gold, haha. God's been teaching me this exact thing in the last year, if they're not giving their best, don't make it easy for them. Call them higher.

Me too. Thankfully, it's been a season of growth like no other for me, through all the struggles I'm relying on Him more than ever and He's teaching me so much. I'm "content" to continue in this vein for now and let the season be what it is, although it's sometimes difficult to acknowledge the difference between what I want and what I need in this time. Wishing you strength and an open heart to God for you.

Quite a long time ago I was attending a well known large church in my city. One evening they were letting the congregation know about an upcoming event for single Christians at the church. I still remember the woman pastor admonishing us along the lines of "DO NOT come to the meeting with the idea of expecting to meet a partner or potential spouse..." She made it sound so wrong, so taboo, just the idea of adult believers meeting and wanting to to talk and maybe get to know other believers of the opposite sex.

Hi John and Lisa! This is isn’t related to the episode but I wanted to ask if it would be possible for you tackle the topic of cults vs religion. I recently had a friend who turned away from Christianity and got baptized into a big cult here in the Philippines which so many people sadly consider as a “religion” and I’d really love to hear your thoughts on this ☺️

There is the antidote about the girl. Praying to God, asking God to send her, her husband.
God answers her and tells her,
“I did send him to you, but you told him you wanted to be, ‘just friends.’”

I grew up in church and never had girls that had a crush on me. My college group and single's group were the same. I never had a chance. Finally, one day I watched a TV show called " Two and a half men". It was a perfect description of my college and single's group in church. The handsome jerks had all the girls, meanwhile, sincere, mature Christians didn't have a chance. I saw many good Christian guys marrying outside the church because they were not jerk enough to attract the girls in church. What an amazing TV series, they really show how things are.

Don't give up!!! You can't wait for a girl to like you before you pursue her...what you need to do is find that one Christian girl who has her eyes on Jesus and You pursue Her!!! And don't quit. When I say pursue, first pursue friendship!!!! Is this a person you enjoy hanging out with this person? Do you see her reactions to people? Is she truly pursuing God? ( Also be looking at yourself. Are you putting God first in everything? Are you willing to put her needs before your own? Are you wanting a relationship purely for selfish reasons???) Just some things to ponder. Good luck!

Hi John and Lisa, what a blessing you have been through this podcast. I've listened to almost every episode at this point. One question remains that I'm hoping could be addressed is that of Christian dating with children after divorce. How to approach this, what resources are available, what the Bible says regarding this when each of the ex-spouses have lost their way. Thank you so much for all that you do! Take care.

    • @daughterofthemosthigh3366
      @daughterofthemosthigh3366 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

If your marriage was a first marriage for both you and your wife, the two of you remain in covenant. The one flesh covenant is for life. Only death breaks the covenant. Divorce is in this realm. But in the spirit realm you remain in one/covenant. So there should be no dating following divorce. Remarriage is adultery. The Bible says in first Corinthians chapter 7 verse 11 that we are to reconcile or stay single following separation or divorce. Anyone who dates you and gets involved with you is violating the covenant you have with your covenant partner. If you date someone that is divorced you are violating that persons covenant as well as your own.

So, if he’s 30 and his life span is another 50 years;he has to remain single and alone for the rest of his life?
Or since you believe that Evan after 10 years of divorce he can show up at his ex wife home anytime and expect her to treat him as she did when they were married?

The Bible does NOT say that the man is the head of the house, it’s says the head of the wife in respect to the verses preceding it-the man is to love his wife as Christ loved the church. 20:14
