Praise the Lord for confirming my understanding of speaking in tongues. No one teaches about this in church which I don’t understand because it unlocks our spiritual treasures. I just spoke and prayed in tongues on 8/11 and I prayed for it for a while. It changed my spiritual life forever! The enemy has really deceived the church to stop people from speaking in tongues. It gives me so much authority and power in the mighty name of Jesus!

Greetings from Colorado! I had never tried speaking in tongues before! I was baptized in 1991. Never in ALL these years was I told this is a tool in my tool box for thwarting Satan and speaking in a secret language to God! What a shame this powerful blessing is hidden from believers! THANK YOU FOR GETTING THE WORD OUT! I use this daily now and I feel things are really shifting and gaining momentum for my Divine Purpose!

I've been praying in what I believe is tounges but the enemy has me wondering.
To make it more complex to my mind its a language I don't recognize.
I was an Opera singer & have sung in over 10 languages. So not recognizing it is a door the enemy is using to alow me down.
It could also be a goft that it's far away from any I know so my mind doesn't get involved.
I find sometimes I have to play loud praise music to speak any more than just the same few things over & over.
I have prayed " Mind, submit to the Holy Spirit & Spirit take me to the Father. " Love any advice ❤️
Also in church we should just follow the rule set down in Paul's writings. Someone speaks or prays in tounges & 2-3 "judge" the one doing it.
The gentleman that with God’s help took out the church of Satan said serpents & scorpions are the most common unclean Spirits.
Church of Glad Tidings is his church, they KNOW spiritual warfare! Not only against the church of satan but witches too. 25:57

I don't think they do it to interrupt, so preachers can always go on with their preaching. Because we are in control of how and when we use the gifts (1 Corinthians 14:32). Plus people wouldn't just stand and start shouting in tongues, they are most likely going to be mumbling it to themselves. Or out loud when everyone is praying as well

Actually, this did happen in our church. After a few weeks of attending our services, a woman stood during the sermon & started speaking in tongues .. very loudly. The pastor stopped preaching & called for an interpretation. There was no response from the congregation. He then said that this action was out of order & respectfully told her to sit down. It was awkward, but necessary. Never occurred again.

So what's the weirdness about it? You must mean the fakeness of it. When people fake a touch of God. There's NOTHING weird about the Holy Spirit or how He manifests in different people's lives and how He breaks chains

I praise and thank God for you guys because as you were praying I felt exactly word for word what you were praying in the lunchroom cafeteria at my school. God recently set me free from a church that appeared "spiritual" for God but it was really it was a mock of what God really does (if that makes sense) and He re- established me in a church that is truly filled with and led by the Holy Spirit, I could tell the difference once God opened up my eyes. And ever since then, I've just been so hungry for God and I want to see more of what He can do in my life and in this world like it started off in the book of Acts and God definitely spoke to me through your message today and just wanted to say thank you for your obedience to Him all these years

Many years I tarried and asked God for tongues, I purchased books on to gues, I consulted with others in the Faith about tongues. Some in Faith said tongues are no longer necessary we have the Bible, others in other Faith's said yes, they Do have tongues and they advise me me and try to assist me to speak in tongues. I even got a revelation that many in the Penecostal church don't actually have the gift of tongues but they have a great desire to have tongues and say that they do speak. It's clear in the Bible where Paul asks ' do all speak with tongues, No. This means a measure is given to some people but not all people have this gifting. We are told to pray and ask so I encourage all who desire this not to be discouraged and feel like a failure in the spiritual gifts of tongue , some of us have stronger gifting in other operations of the BODY of Christ. I have tongues now, and it was about four years of intense investment in efforts because I was not going to fake it with saying words, like word salad repetively, just to fit in or to have a office in mans church but hey if that's what it takes for some then right on. God knows the heart. Many violate the principle in the Bible that requires if the tongue is used publicly there should be those who stand and Interpret what has been spoken in that tongue if that were enforced as the Bible instructs there would be less confusion upon use of tongues 👅.

Thank you for speaking about this these last couple of months Ive been feeling the holy spirit work in me & its been an overwhelming feeling. When you prayed I cried but tears of joy since I know God slowly peeling the onion in my life & taking away spirtual blindness like he stated in the gospels & reminding me that the thief only comes to steal and kill and destory but I come to that they have a full life. When I read that scripture I knew in my spirit that he wants me to lay down the cross at his feet so I could feel fulfilled by him. Also Love that you spoke about corinthians since thats what my pastor recommended since I read all 4 gospels. Thank you for this beautiful message being servants of God. ❤

In advance, I know my only need is to meditate on the word of God. However, as discussed in your conversation, there’s something about the gifts working together and so I say to you that I need to meditate on the examples you shared here to build up my faith even more so that it prepares for the imprinting that my heart and soul needs.
One question though, and perhaps it has something to do with why I haven’t “felt” the things like warmth or trembling. Is that the (only?) way we know Holy Spirit is with us - by “feeling”? I am a person who is sensitive and feels(senses) most things with the people around me. A lot of the times, my feelings about myself are or can be deceptive and I often hear that we “shouldn’t go by feelings”. So as you were describing the nuances in the speaking of tongues, what are the nuances concerning feelings?

I think it’s beautiful. They both interject in the middle of each others sentences to add to each others points. I grew up in the north, where this is common- it’s just the way people flow in conversation. Being military, we have traveled and lived all over. In the same way people speak different languages in different places, people also flow in conversation differently and use body language differently. I’ve had to adjust because this type of conversational flow is not common where I live now. It’s actually refreshing when I see people flow like this in conversation, since I grew up with it. As long as people’s hearts aren’t critical toward one another, I always try to honor and know it’s okay that they flow in conversation in the way it’s common for their culture or subculture. All the different kinds are beautiful in their own way :-)

There is absolutely nothing mysterious about Biblical "tongues" - and there is only one type - when referring to something spoken, they are nothing more than real, rational language(s); usually, but not always, unknown to those listening to them, but always known by the speaker(s) - it’s their native language (in some cases, it is a language the speaker has learned).
In contrast, the “tongues” Pentecostal and Charismatic Christians are producing today is an entirely self-created phenomenon. It is non-cognitive non-language utterance; random free vocalization based upon a subset of the existing underlying sounds (called phonemes) of the speaker’s native language, and any other language(s) the speaker may be familiar with or have had contact with.
It is, in part, typically characterized by repetitive syllables, plays on sound patterns, alliteration, assonance, and over-simplification of syllable structure. The "nail in the coffin", so-to-speak, is that _any and all_ phonological rules (rules governing how sounds are put together in a given language - what is allowed and what is disallowed) governing a speaker's native language, will _also_ govern their tongues-speech. That fact alone negates anything that can be construed as 'divine' in nature and cements that fact that it is a self-created phenomenon. Further, this subset of phonemes mentioned above typically contains only those sounds which are easiest to produce physiologically.
Occasionally some speakers will use two or more subsets of phonemes to generate glossolalia, producing what, to them, sounds like two (or more) distinct “tongues languages”, thus claiming to be able to speak in “divers tongues”.
There is absolutely _nothing_ that “tongues-speakers” are producing that cannot be explained in relatively simple linguistic terms.
Conversely, when it comes to something spoken, there are absolutely _no_ Biblical references to “tongues” that do not refer to, and cannot be explained in light of, real rational language(s), though it may not be the explanation you want to hear, and it may be one which is radically different from what you believe, or were taught. _Nowhere_ in the Bible is modern tongues-speech advocated or evidenced.
“Praying in the Spirit” does _not_ refer to the words one is saying. Rather, it refers to how one is praying. In the three places it is used (Corinthians, Ephesians, and Jude), there is absolutely zero reference to 'languages' in connection with this phrase. “Praying in the Spirit” should be understood as praying in the power of the Spirit, by the leading of the Spirit, and according to His will.

I'm not doubting or questioning the 'tongues experience'; glossolalia as the spiritual tool that it is, can be very powerful and, for many people, the experience is profound. As one commenter put it, “Speaking in tongues distracts the ego/analytical/conscious mind while leaving the subconscious (the heart) wide open to import the divine." Both the spiritual and physical benefits of using this tool are also well documented. Again though, it is important to note that this same statement can be made for virtually _any_ other culture that practices glossolalia. Religious and cultural differences aside, the glossolalia an Evenki Shaman in Siberia, a vodoun priestess in Togo and a Christian tongues-speaker in Alabama are producing are in no way different from each other. They’re all producing their glossolalia in the exact same way; they just have different explanations and beliefs as to why they’re doing it, and where it comes from. It is only in certain Christian denominations where is it construed as something it never was.
“Tongues” is to some Christian believers a very real and spiritually meaningful experience but consisting of emotional release via non-linguistic ‘free vocalizations’ at best; non-cognitive non language utterance - the subconscious playing with sounds to create what is perceived and interpreted as actual, meaningful speech. In _some_ cases, I would argue that it is clearly a self/mass delusion prompted by such a strong desire to “experience God” that one creates that experience via “tongues”.

‘Tongues’ (read, *‘languages’* ) - the divine gift, is the God given ability to effortlessly learn to speak and be understood through real-language barriers. It is not xenoglossy, nor is it modern tongues-speech.
As a point of note, I’m a Linguist, and let me also add here that I am neither a so-called ‘cessationist’ nor a ‘continuationist’ - I do not identify with either term; in fact, I had never heard the two terms until just late in 2016. As far as I’m concerned, quite frankly, since the Biblical reference of “tongues” is to real, rational languages, obviously “tongues” haven’t “ceased”.
With respect to the phrases “divers kinds of tongues” and “diversities of tongues” (1 Cor. 12:10 and 28), one needs to look at what was actually written. First, in v. 10, there is no “various” or “different” here; the passage from the Greek is literally “to another, kinds of languages”. Verse 28 is more straightforward; “kinds of languages”. What is pertinent is that Paul renders ‘kinds’ with the word “genos”. It’s the same root as in our English ‘genus, genetics, genealogy’. It refers specifically to ‘kind(s)’ in the sense of belonging to a ‘family’, ‘race’, ‘people’. A more accurate understanding of “kinds of languages” would be “kinds of languages [belonging to a language family]”. A clear indication that real, rational languages are being referred to here.
Paul was the apostle to the Gentiles - it stands to reason he would use his knowledge of foreign languages more than the average person to spread the Gospel, and thanked God for giving him the ability to do so. A frequent use of foreign languages was sort of part of his “job description”.
It also stands to reason that he wished others were able to do the same - would make his job a lot easier and the message could be better spread to all corners of the known world. Paul is not speaking about, nor is he advocating here for, modern tongues-speech.

I love this episode. I was blessed with some gifts as a teen and then I found the weird people and was almost pushed away, but thankfully God helped me develop discernment. It breaks my heart that so many have been pushed away by doctrines that are super polarizing - they run away from the weird stuff but end up completely neglecting the Spirit’s power today. As a single millennial I wish there were more men that believe in and pursue the power of the Holy Spirit.

I believe there is a spirit in our home.
There is a continuous tension almost as if I have developed an aversion to my husband. (Nonbeliever and narcissistic). When I walk into the house my spirit just drops. (My son 44yrs) mentioned the same thing to me other day.

Brother I say to you this is a minor gift be careful this is why I am going to Orthodox for doctrines I am not judging but saying 2000 years ago there was a church not 400 years ago it was in hiding or reformed by a monk that wanted to take books out of the new testament this caused division and we all need to seek Christ and what is the real church the bride and groom I wish that we all came back into the church from the beginning and stop. Devision speaking about a gift that Paul said was minor yes it is a gift given by God but Paul was addressing the corith who accepted Christ but were called babes by Paul and followed pagan rituals and had sexual immorality amongst them I'm not calling you anything or judging you nothing bad but what did the early recognized saints act like before Martin Luther and how did Christ work through them

  • @ronald1317
    @ronald1317 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

When Peter speaks he speaks specifically to the Jews not the Jews and everyone else
Interpretation is the person who speaks the foreign language
Prayer language is just prayer same with the Holy Spirit interceding on our behalf, it is basically the Holy Spirit at the side of God speaking to Him on our behalf
    1. Reason we know this in Romans and mark the word for tongues is inaudible not unintelligible, but also in Romans right before it talks about this it mentions when we are so distressed we don't know what to say and we can't speak
Also praying in the spirit is the same as prayer for it is by the presence of the Holy Spirit that prayer is possible
But also if you read all of the verses in completion in 2 Corinthians on this topic we see no contradictions with the understanding of acts tongues, we actually see it works together completely and the contradictions only come up when you take the verses one by one
We must remember that the verses in scriptures are not meant to be examined that way
    Think about it this way
My day at work was great and it was horrible these are a contradictions but we automatically understand we must be missing something and it is the missing information that makes it clearly understood why is was great and horrible
Things like I got promoted and a huge raise and I was very productive but about 1hour and 20min before we were done for the day we had a bad accident at work and several people got hurt
So yes individually it was great and horrible is a contradiction but the details complete the information to state it is not a contradiction
So the bible does not give us 4 gifts of tongues just 1 and prayer expressed in a different term to express that the Holy Spirit is at the right hand of God speaking for us
No speech/inaudible would include a language we speak in any form including but obviously not limited to a special spirit language
Also God is a God of order why would he give 4 different languages with no real explanation of them in 1 passege of text when a simple understanding in full context of 1 language and prayer already established and well known of fits perfectly
We have to come up with the missing information by taking it verse by verse to even see a issue
And again when Peter stands and addresses the crowd in acts 2 he is speaking directly to the Jews and the Bible makes this clear so to see a universal language her you need to explain that away or completely look over it which by my experiences most have just over looked that the bible states that Peter is talking directly to the Jews explaining the prophecy from Joel
The other people have already been addressed

Even William Seymour the Pentecostal revivalist teaches that we pentecostals should not focus in pursuing 'gift of tongue' but rather in being baptized and 'continually 'filled by the Holy Spirit ... the gift of tongue and other gifts will follow after being filled with Holy Spirit , some might 'utilize' the gift slowly and not right away but if one is truly baptized by Holy Spirit then surely he has the gift of tongue either he utilizes it or not . Many people are truly baptized by Holy Spirit such as Reformed preacher Paul Washer, he describes his encounter with the Holy Spirit in the woods after spending quite a period of prayer and fasting where the manifestation of the TANGIBLE holy presence of God is so overwhelming that he literally bend himself in fetal position even to the point thinking he would've died , he said in that moment his mouth started 'automatically' pouring out flow of (understandable) words of praise like the book of psalms I believe Paul Washer definitely has the gift of tongue but unfortunately his theology 'suppresses' this gift from being utilized . The primary sign of being baptized by Holy Spirit is the TANGIBLE overwhelming passion to commune worshiping God in holiness of His Love , the gift(s) will follow especially when our theology don't block them .

It's more controversial that people do not believe the gifts are for today (we're still in the church age). Some pastors from China took a tour of mega churches in america and were asked what they were most surprised at concerning the american church. They said it was incredible how much americans can do without the leading of the Holy Spirit.

I know it was said to bring back the gifts back without the weirdness, but those with the gifts in the old testament operated with weirdness sometimes. Like Elisha laying on that child in 2 Kings 4 and even in the new testament Jesus spat on the blind mans eyes in Mark 8:22-26.If that happened today we would say it's weird, but those were methods people with the gifts used to heal people. Some girl recently shared that God told her to randomly do a back flip in a supermarket. Weird right? But her obedience blessed someone who requested that back flip as confirmation form God. another testimony is one where God told someone to say a certain word to random folks and that word actually ended up blessing the couple and being what they needed to hear. All this to say, how do we discern which "weirdness" is from God and which isn't? And is it weirdness if it's coming from God?

I agree… weirdness is also so subjective. If we are so concerned about what someone might consider weird, we may end up stifling the gifts of the Spirit. The key thing as the Beveres said is to submit to the Lord and obey what He says, and not what the flesh says.

You can pray for the gift of interpretation, God will give it to you if you ask in faith and sincerity. It’s not about what the tongues sound like to you in your natural understanding. Tongues are a spiritual gift - the Lord understands them and He alone can give you understanding if you ask Him.

This is hogwash. First of all you don’t ask for the spirit. You receive the spirit when you are baptized. “Tongues” in scripture are just languages. They aren’t some animal noises with zero meaning. The spirit interceding for us in prayer isn’t tongues. It’s the spirit hearing our thoughts that we don’t have words for. These spiritual gifts were given to those at that time for the spreading of the gospel. No one today has the gift of unlearned languages.

I can so relate and both my wife and I could write a book on what we’ve encountered over the years in the Pentecostal churches due to lack of discernment and wisdom in the spiritual gifts. I went through a season of doubting and being afraid to operate in them because of what we saw abused by the flesh. This teaching is so refreshing and timely for the church today. We need that power of the gifts in operation over the body NOW more than ever! Lord bless you folks for your obedience and teaching truth.

John and Lisa, I commented recently after your podcast on joy vs. blessings. The date of that broadcast was September 5, 2023. Two days before that, in a 'home meeting', I was anointed and prayed for regarding numerous physical needs. A brother had earlier affirmed that he had heard me speaking in a heavenly language. Those ministering that night affirmed that indeed I had spoken in my heavenly language. So I am "growing in that aspect of my spiritual life. Having served in Russia, I know the language, and have occasionally prayed in Russian.

The church is a mess people leaving all over the place. People like you and Brian Houston don't want people speaking in tongues because it will do them out of a job. If leaders across the world started in unity to get people to speak in tongues 1 hour every days you wouldn't be able to contain the harvest. There is no evidence anywhere on earth that anyone is really serious. For 50 years the Charismatic movement has failed to promote true Pentecost
