So good to hear from BALANCED dog trainers. I have been training for over 35 years and instructing at a club level for over 20 years. I have moved with the times, however hold strong to the Operant Conditioning whilst others around me have fallen for positive only.

Michael giving honor to those responsible adults, who weren’t dogcrafters proper or at all, that influenced Micheal’s epistemological development (for his later autodidactic growth in his vocational calling) and his pedagogy, which has self-evidentially grew him up into the greatest dog trainer’s trainer of ours, if not all time! His humility is astounding, not least in his regular deference to Ivan. While we should all be grateful for our historical situatedness, allowing us the many blessings of technology, especially Ed’s and Cindy’s contributions, leaving our future trainers an Alexandrian-sized library of Michael’s knowledge, understanding and wisdom in digital formats. However, how great it would be to have the same content in a hubbed-spined, highland goatskin leather bound series (like volumes I, II, III, IV…through infinity!?! Thanks guys for your work bringing Michael’s and so many others (Tyler is the supreme canine philosopher, eh!?!) for us all! Blessing to y’all!

GREAT JOB GUYS. Been training for over 15 years and still hold Ellis as the standard for "learning" about dog handling. 👏

I live in South Africa...when internet shopping became possible we bought Michael's DVD from Leerburg....It changed the world for us. We had trainers visit from the States and Germany .... but only after watching Michael and listening to his explinations did it all make sense. I really love the fact that Michael never takes out frustration on the dog....always observing and adapting. Definitely on my list of favourite trainers. Great talk....loved it

Just found you guys and this interview is gold. I’m an Az based Pet Dog trainer and even though Michael trains things I never will, I always learn something when I hear him speak. You both made excellent points so as well. The hardest thing I find to teach is the Owner in timing, leash handling , and most of all Patience! We have to be mindful that they are a making a substantial financial commitment for a family dog, but also not promise too much too fast. Setting expectations as “may take 8 weekly sessions or might take 12 or more, depending on your dog and YOUR commitment “ has helped. The dogs are generally easy… it’s the owners I slow things down for most often. Lol. Great stuff.. will keep listening to your other posts. Thx! Dave
