- hen you think of people in a hip hop dance class, an elderly white gentleman is probably the last person to come to mind, but this is what makes this dancing granddaddy so awesome! I'm a lot younger than this man and I can't do most of these moves like he can. He's killing it! I feel so inspired after watching this. I want to get up and dance!

My grandparents were practically in wheel chairs when they were 70. I'm 68 now, and I do HIIT and core 2 x week, weights and plyo 2 x week, and a 1 hour power walk with sprints once a week. Plus I dance as often as I can. Use it or lose it! :-)

I'm impressed, not so much by the moves, cuz I could do the same thing (I'm 70 also). What impresses me most is that this is a long dance routine and I'd have a whole lotta trouble remembering the steps. Ummm.. what's my name again?
Ole Nielson I agree. Idk why people want to put a 70 year old in a category like any small feat for them is a miracle. There are many very active 70 year olds. 70 is the new 60, 50 the new 40, etc. I plan on doing this and more at 70. I'm 51.
Terri Boyd I think the point is (besides the invitation to enjoy the video) that although there are *many* active people his age, *most* 70 year olds are not *that* active and *cannot* do it like that - to deny such a fact is ridiculous..and even if most people of *all* ages are not fantastic dancers there is at least the higher chance that the energy is available to try when a person is within a certain age range..and i say: why not celebrate his talent?? it's an awesome thing to watch him get down like that - inspiring!
***** Unfortunately in this day and age I think you're wrong. My mothers active lifestyle puts me to shame. Why can't people make a positive statement about life and aging without somebody coming along and trying to knock it down. 50's are the new 30's and 70's are the new 50's. People are living longer and living more active lifestyles. This is a GOOD thing and not something anybody needs to argue or try to dispute. What purpose does that serve? Sometimes trying to be right really serves no purpose at all.
I'm 62 years old, the mind and is willing, but the arthritis is saying I don't think so.
P. Wilder Find something to do that brings you joy and energy and embrace it. If you can't move much that's okay. Plenty hobbies still to do. You may also want to consider an anti inflammatory diet. That will do wonders for the pain. You don't have to embrace immobility until it takes you kicking and screaming.👍🏽😁

No please don't underestimate us. I am 65 and will be 66 next month (December 2015) and I sill have my moves. In my late teens, twenties and thirties I was 95% the bell of the ball on the dance floor. I had a slim beautiful model's figure and danced like I was professionally trained with that natural soul that comes with being an American of African and Native American heritage. That combined with the great since of rhythm as trained musician.
You do your thing. Age is only in the mind.

I read about this man . He was the instructor in the class. That's why he's so good. I was in an assisted living facility last summer visiting my mother and went to a dance they held there. Most of the residents were in wheelchairs but one man in his 90's would get up and dance and HE WAS FABULOUS!! I tried to get him on video but my camera battery died. I'll always be sorry I didn't catch him in action! If ya got it, ya got it - forever.

just cos you get old, doesnt mean you stop being YOU! so dont fall into the trap of telling yourself that you are old - and do wot you love! im 50 and i aint stopping for no one! ps that guy was probably teaching these dance moves in the 1970s....where do you think these moves came from? lol

A lot of folks think that if one is over 50, then don't know how to dance. Believe it or not, the older generation invented dance moves. We did the Hustle, the Bump, disco, you name it, we did it. I bet that 70 year old man was The John Travolta of his time. Don't dismiss us and think we can't boogie. You'd be surprised.
