I think I'd much prefer it if they did like a Worldwide Fashion game pack, with a model/traveller career, and a lot of clothes (including those!) from all around the world. That would make more sense, have some gameplay aspects and wouldn't feel like a money grab.

this would be nice, i feel like it's a missed opportunity to only bring in the fashion of these places when they could have went gameplay and covered broader culture of multiple places all in one gp w it's own world maybe,,, even if they can't do the world at least a basic career like that would be nice, like the designer pack did
@@nefarioussorcery and that’s why there’s a base game update with clothing from both of these cultures. But it does make sense to pay for expanded content beyond the basics.
feels like EA is hitting a problem whit how world works in sims 4. aka there are none.
and there isn´t even enouth lots for everything (Im not sure if there are enough empty lots to build one of each lot type).
Last time I played the sims 3 years ago, I played on the Island world from that expansion pack.
and it been a tropical island limited me somewhat whit what I could build and it feelt natural and all that.
sims 4 I live out in the country side (city shopping) just as far away as going down to my local store kind of deal.
it makes the environments pointless.
there is no reason to live in a city vs living out in the country side.
Not gonna lie but every cas item that has been released since discover university has been really high quality, and much better texture. It’s almost like EA hired a new cas employee or something. TS4 in 2015 does not compare

discover uni also had one of the best cas in a while, so trendy and universal and i use it with almost every single sim. the athleisure is my fav for sleepwear and activewear...so many cute sweaters and bottoms. even if nothing fits my sim ill use those cute transparent socks on them in one outfit
Agreed! And Discover University came out in 2019 right? Wasn't Paralives first appearing in July 2019? Not saying it's related but, not sure it's just a coincidence either.
Honestly for a $5 pack you would expect them to at least convert the pants decently for the feminine frame.

@@BusyBusyPanda as the original commenter said, it's about how the clothes change the sims' body shape and how the shadowing translates between masculine and feminine frames. some clothes in the game actually change the shape of the hips or chest area which is not realistic. :)

I wish CAS kits also included hairs as well as clothes. CAS kits are the biggest ripoff because of CC creators. At least hairs would make it more worth the value.
I would buy a kit focused on hairstyles. For example, 10 for women and 10 for men, with some of them converted for kids and toddlers. I think many people would like it.
Nah, I don't really agree as there are some really good CC hair creators out there. Yet I have never seen any MaxisMatch cultural fashion.

I feel like several of these pieces are not so drastically different than things we have to be worth the price. They look nice, I like them, I like variety and culture, but I would buy them for like $2, not $5 apiece.
CaS kits aren't worth it bc they don't have enough content to be worth buying it. It's just like the Moschino collab, a fashion asset with not a lot of fashion involved... At the end of the day it's either the Team lower the cost or find a way to make it worth the price!

@@heehohaw Yeah in Canada that super pricy. I always wait for the sold of 50% that come at different time during the year. At the black friday or before the holiday the kits will for sure be on sale!

Oh is this a roast? Though it was just the mildest of criticism. Simmers should start looking at what criticism looks life for other games, with huge dissatisfaction in the community. In the past EA even had such backlash from gamers, loot boxes became a political issue and they were made to stop their shady tactics for once. This is what other communities do instead of saying: "I don't like kits", and then still buying them like sheep.
Is this what gamechangers critic looks like? Even if they get the kit for free they buy it with their own money to make a video in time. It's not only lilsimsie who did this.

I feel like the clothes were already outdated when the game was launched. Too much of early 2000's vibes idk, things don't match and most swatches are just impossible to wear.

I bought the Incheon Arrival and as someone who lives in Korea, I really appreciate it. They did a nice job on representing the fashion you’ll definitely find at the airport or in Seoul’s street. 😇
I'd rather spend $5 on a cc creators patreon. More stuff, better quality, supports an individual instead of a greedy corporation.

@Wazowski Thanks for bringing that up. I think that's so interesting, just wrote an essay about something similar in another fan culture. Modding and CC creation was originally a labor of love, a participatory culture born from both love for the franchise and frustration with its issues that are being ignored by the corporation that holds it.
I get that people who dedicate lots of time and effort to this eventually want to make a profit from it too because we're living in a capitalist society where time = money = rent but depending on who's catering to who and what's their business model, it kinda rubs me the wrong way.
sims 4 cc creators can be just as greedy sadly. saw a person recolor EA furniture and expected TWENTY freaking dollars for it.

That is a really valid point to address. Imagine in other countries, where the currency is deeply affected by dollar price. In Brazil, expansion packs are costing R$200, and kits are R$29 each. So it is in fact only affordable for those who have it to spare. I really like the game, but even when they are on sale it's a splurge.

They added some more India inspired clothing to the base game when they announced these packs, so that isn’t just locked behind money anymore. And IMO the other one is very standard and not really a culture thing. Don’t get me wrong they’re great basics, but that’s all they are.

I honestly think all the packs are overpriced, with kits being especially egregious considering they're half the price of a stuff pack with way less than half the content. I'm interested in Korean culture so I was kind of excited to see what would be in the Incheon Arrivals kit but I'm still hesitant to actually buy it, I mean there's already a lot of good Korean fashion CC. I do hope that The Sims continues to work with people from different cultures to bring content from their cultures to the game.

I just wish they would, instead of contant release of kits, focus on making packs (and the update) actually playable... instead of glitchy mess they have been.
They are, the kits are just something we can play with while they take time to develop new packs and EP's.
theory on the drawings: they got in so much trouble with the incorrect render for the industrial loft kit that they simply didn't show renders this time because they weren't yet accurate representations of what would come out on the actual release day
ALSO this is my official petition for bracelets to zoom in the same as fingernails in cas x
that would mean that they don't have the item finalized up until they actual launch. that seems super unlikely. it shouldn't be a problem to create a cover art that is like an in-game screenshot in one day for example. having actual sims on the cover for the launch/release would have made so much sense to me! the cute illustrations they chose would have felt like teasers.

I just buy everytime off G2A, I have a majority of the DLC and I've spent around $330 at max, pretty good deals! But yeah it's wayyy too expensive

Not that bad compared to other games or compared to monthly Patreon subscribtion! Lets say you subscribe to 3-4 5$ Patreon per months you pay 20$ per months thats 240$ per year ! How long has the sims been out! At least 7 years 240x7 = way more than just buying the packs!

The fucking elevators in apartments have been broken since university so i cant have dogs or toddlers in them without it being insanely annoying to get them back inside. Its like painting over a fucked up wall. Yeah its nice new coat but i can still see all the holes in the wall and all the paint pealing up from before is glaringly obvious
Yes PLEASE! I would much rather have gameplay than cas and build, i use cc anyway, and yeah there are some good mods out there, but they are restricted within the game while EA gameplay stuff is not that restricted… We need more gameplay, bust the dust isnt enough
As a console player, the idea of kits makes sense since I don't have access to cc. That being said, the price point is high. I only own certain packs and almost all were on sale so I wouldn't be able to justify buying kits just for one or two specific items that I like. I don't even do that with packs. With console, more packs means slower loading times and more game crashes so I try to be strategic about which ones I purchase. The only kit I own is country kitchen as I'm learning to build and I adore the style, but I'd rather own a single fully flushed out pack with non glitchy game play and enough items to furnish an entire house. Impress me with a build kit as good as country kitchen and maybe I'll make another exception.

@@michaelajw_ not on the cover exactly, but one of the renders used as a teaser showed a window that was not included in the pack. EA has said they will update the kit to include the second window, but so far it hasn't happened yet.
@@michaelajw_ before launching the industrial kit, the Sims team put up an image on their twitter - i can't recall what it's called, a preview? Pre-release? Anyway - with the new bed and other decor items AND a window that was not featured in the pack. The window design was a bit different, enough so people accused ea of false advertising, malice etc

I loved the clothes on the kits, but kits are so incredibly overpriced in Brazil it's unthinkable to buy them. It's a shame, bc I'm obsessed with the oasis kit, and would probably buy the Korean kit if the price was more reasonable

making an illustration from scratch is definitely more time consuming than just using an in-game render... EA's choices really baffle me sometimes

I won't either on principle. It's never enough content to justify the price. I'm not against the idea of a fashion pack (Sims 1 H&M is still one of my most used), but this isn't enough.

I love the Incheon kit, from living in Korea I can tell you that I see these looks all over Seoul. Especially the light beige long skirt with the over sized hoodie and matching Balenciaga tennis shoes. You see it everywhere! I love it :D
I just feel like If I want new fashion I would rather download CC as they end up way better. I won't be buying those. I'd rather have build n buy items or game play or idk them focus on glitches so I can play some of my expansions again. Guess sims just has me frustrated and down lately 🤷♀️😔

The only pack I care about being released in the sims 4 anymore is Generations, so to finally get the Autumn roadmap and seeing 4 kits and no Generations after teasing it for almost 2 years ticked me off. At the very least I hope that the “new ways to play” and “dimension to our sims lives” is attraction and personality based, but this is the sims 4 so trying not to get my hopes high.
I just really hope kits (and every other type of pack) get a 50% off for Black Friday or Christmas, then I will consider buying them.

I’m gonna buy these kits just to support the idea of EA supporting Own Voices content. Like not a lot of people talk about the fact that all of the lots for Snowy escape were created by non-Asian influencers (in contrast they internally sought out British youtubers for Cottage living) so these kits in general are a good step in the right direction for representation.

If they want to support them, they shouldn't half-ass it and put a miniscule amount of their work into kits that are loathed by the community. How about instead letting them partake in expansion packs from now on. Right now it shows that those talented voices are only good for the left over content and for EPs they will use the more appreciated influencers who are not familiar with the culture again.
I was not at all interested in these kits, but after seeing the South Korean fashion kit I really want it. I’ll wait to figure out if I really want it long term but I may actually buy it. Edit: I will say that if the kit was half the price I would definitely buy it. If it goes on sale for half off I will definitely buy it.
I really love these two kits, I love that they collaborated with people actually from the cultures, I think the swatches are beautiful, I think there's a nice variety of items, and I think that the amount of items for masculine and feminine sims is really well balanced

in Canada with tax, the kit comes to $7.90 I bought in incheon arrivals, but not the other one
Kayla, I know you had an issue with the cover art on these kits, but since they worked with actual designers, is it possible these were the design drawings done by them to give to EA? Maybe that's why they used them.
it's unrealistic that they would be in the same style though. even if they are based on a drawing that each designer did, they translated it into a different style, which also means they could have just showed the clothing on actual sims. it's weird
I don’t mind kits honestly, I mind their frequency. They should be special and targeted, like this was. Or the release. But like, Country Kitchen was a cash grab… Hello, Cottage Living. As for these, I love them! The skirt and jacket set in red is SO young adult Cassie. And I can’t wait to update City Living and Snowy Escape townies with this stuff. Also, finally interesting men’s stuff!
i’m definitely more of a cas person. most of the time when i’m buying a pack i have to look at the cas to see if i like it. like i’m not a builder so i definitely prioritize cas over anything. so i’m very excited for these kits & im def gonna get them

As someone who has a disabled sibling, I never want to see it in Sims 4 as it would just end up being a "happy disabled people" fantasy or would stick out like a sore thumb in a game that even considers burglars or house fires not being family-friendly^^
@@fynnh5459 and as a disabled person I would love to see myself represented in video games. Especially a game that is meant to be a “simulation” of life. To think they’d class disabled Sims as not family friendly is complete speculation especially since Sims can be gender and sexually diverse.
@@ranisundays4204 I'm not saying adding people in a wheelchair for example wouldn't be family friendly. But being disabled isn't only being in a wheelchair or needing crutches. It often times is accompanied by a lot of pain, fatigue, etc. Not adding that would only serve the twisted way many people view disabilities. Adding that would make disabled Sims be the only Sims with any "weaknesses" and true problems in a game that doesn't even contain common illnesses or the true consequences of a heartbreak (instead of being sad for 5h). So I just don't see any way they could add it.
I've participated in the survey of Paralives regarding adding disabled people and I would be glad if they added the option. It just seems like a much more diverse and realistic game. I'm not against adding disabled people in general. I just don't think it could be done well with Sims 4 at the stage the game is now.
The only kit I actually like was the dust buster kit.

I'd love to see a Jewellery Kit or have more jewellery as part of a stuff pack. Maybe a Jeweller skill where you can craft new jewellery at a table, unlocking new designs as you progress. You could craft gemstones that you find into necklaces, earrings, rings and bracelets - giving more gameplay features to collectables. You could even get different buffs and moodlets when you wear them. E.g. you might get a +3 Confident Moodlet from wearing a rare sapphire necklace etc.

the other kit is beautiful too, but it doesn’t mesh with my style as well.
I think they made the covers illustrations because of the areas they’re in. If they put a fake render of the areas, they could get caught for false advertising again like with the fake window in the Industrial Loft Kit.
That being said, it would still just make more sense to just add a disclaimer or illustrate the background and add models on top.

*sigh* At this point in time, I just can't justify spending $10 on clothes for my Sims, especially when there isn't any children or toddler clothes. I understand that making stuff for a game isn't easy, but it's just too much right now considering how much the Sims 4 is if you were to buy it all.
They could've included at least one personality trait in these kits, I think that would've helped their reputation and made the pack more interesting, and not just "I'm gonna get this instead of CC so my game doesn't lag as much"

These are beautiful, and I would've loved to see them come out in a larger context (stuff pack, expansion, etc) but as a kit it's a solid no from me. It's just not worth it to spend the money.
I think a lot of people (ahem non Asians) don't consider the fact that these kits aren't "cultural" clothings, but current, contempory fashion styles in Seoul and Mumbai, and made by designers who are Asian. I would feel worse if the items were free base game items and the Asian designers didn't get appropriately paid. Representation should also mean that the represented people are paid, you know
When she was talking about Polly it made me so happy, I have sims that I get really attached to and get sad when they die lmao. The generational family I am working on now, the first gen mom (Stevie) I played her for almost a year before I got her married and pregnant by I another sim I also played for a long time. They hit it off and were so cute together, they went to college together and I had them move around a ton and travel I had them try all of the jobs. Then I built them a home, they got married and had a family, all girls. I had all of the kids stay at home until they either finished college or reached level 10 of their careers. Just before one of the daughters graduation, the mom died and the house felt so damn empty it made me so sad and I continued my game play but I miss her so much lol!!! The oldest daughter had a baby with her wife and named the baby girl Stevie after her mom.

i think the reason all the swatches look good is bc EA didn’t design them, most of their watches are horrendous, but when they bring in someone else they finally look good
not related to these kits, but i feel like along with the spa day update, they should add a moodlet for the sims with the ‘high maintenance’ trait about like breaking a nail or chipping it. i feel like it really suits it and i love the idea of them being fussy and stuff. keep up the good work kayla
Just a second, but can we appreciate the fact that the Incheon skirt came up for the male Sims while the “masculine” tag was on???? Like I feel like this might be the first time that I’ve personally ever seen EA officially acknowledge that traditionally-female styles can be worn by male Sims, without taking of the “masculine” tag.

I mean you can put your male sims in skirts. The tag is for organization. Its not like they are saying men cant wear skirts. They are definitely more open about gender and gender expression than other games. I recently found out you can have a male sim with a feminine frame

My issue is that I get anxious if I don’t have all of the packs. Like if I had just bought base game and nothing else, I would be fine. But since I’ve bought more, not having all of them makes me anxious. Which is annoying bc it’s expensive af.
i love kits that include more cultures, i just hope this fandom won´t get triggered if someone decides to do a little of cultural mix, like it happened in animal crossing.

I am excited to buy them myself (just need to go get a steam card later) and I don't think 5$ is to expensive but I do have the packs I want already and have bought most of them on sale. I also am very happy to support these 2 lovely ladies who helped design these clothes for us. I enjoyed hearing them talk about the clothes. Also one of my best friends online I met in an mmo years ago is from India so I am very interested in having more clothing for that reason alone.
Yeah, I think the fact that they worked with people from those countries and cultures makes me more comfortable w spending the $ on them.

I look at the kits the same way I do custom content and supporting Patreon creators. We can spend just as much for a creator that only release a few items a month. Do I think EA is trying to get as much money as they can, yes! Will I buy it, also yes! Lol
I feel like the main difference is that EA is a huge corporation and CC creators are just regular people making cool content.
and this is y nothing will change , cuz ppl continue to buy and EA doesn’t feel the need to listen to their consumers as long as they are still making money.
@@jadeykg123 I agree. I support Patreon creators I guess for me it’s the same cost to get extra content that doesn’t come with the game. Should it come with the game if EA releases it yes but it’s a business that’s why all additional content is not base game. $5 to me isn’t bad and for those people who do spend money for custom content like myself I think getting the kits is the same thing.

I think the covers being drawings are tributes to fashion sketches given the style of them.
I must admit I like the clothes in the pack. I think they actually did a good job on this! I just personally don't want to spend 5$ for one kit. Maybe some day, or maybe when they are on sale.
